Ramana Maharshi's 'Self Enquiry', Teaching in his own words. David Godman, Robert Adams, Krishnamurti just a few names here

      And, the avatar tag? It's been seriously bastardized by the Hollywood movie [albeit a very good flick!].

    Your expectation of something unique and dramatic, of some wonderful explosion, is merely hindering and delaying your Self Realization. You are not to expect an explosion, for the explosion has already happened - at the moment when you were born, when you realized yourself as Being-Knowing-Feeling. There is only one mistake you are making: you take the inner for the outer and the outer for the inner. What is in you, you take to be outside you and what is outside, you take to be in you. The mind and feelings are external, but you take them to be intimate. You believe the world to be objective, while it is entirely a projection of your psyche. That is the basic confusion and no new explosion will set it right! You have to think yourself out of it. There is no other way. - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

    Some people calling him aggressive . His body language and speaking style is very common and usual for general Indian people, especially people from his generation . And also marathi language sounds more powerful and strong than hindi language.
    A gyaani cannot be identified from his looks and behaviour. He/she may look like most common people. In india many siddhas have lived like beggars and ate with dogs. This kind of gyanis are called unmattavat siddhas. Many of India's ancient siddhas are even known for their arrogant and aggressive behaviour. Outer behaviour is based on the upbringing and social/cultural programing. Never judge a gyani from his outer appearance.

    Strange are the universal laws but how consistent they all are in similarity, across the board. You are nothing , so you are everything- compare that to "When you give away all , you get all" Giving has never made anyone poor in entire mankind's history. Retaining things for one self has indeed turned millions into paupers and admitted into hospitals finally. All saints say "Give, Give Give" and how close to that is this earlier theory of "When you are nothing, you are everything" ! Adding it all , it does make sense now to me.

    I will try and parse something he said to help people digest it in perhaps a clearer way.
    When he spoke that consciousness has no prior being or no being, what he means is this: there was no you as a fixed self carried as something prior to what you are now *and* that there was no you added to what you are now. In a sense, this means there is no reincarnation - this is how you can be a prior being as an entity - and also that the monotheistic views are false, for in there is where you can only had something added to the body as a separate self. What this would mean, in scientific terms, is your consciousness is nearly a wave in the ocean of reality, to be emergent phenomena, with no surfer, no soul, no self, no ego, either carried between the waves or added and taken away from them.
    Nothing will make sense only when one has a glimpse of no-thing, which is to say no state of divisions and disconnections we make conceptually. This is what fuels the illusions of dualism, after all. By looking at the cosmos as things, we begin to conceptualize the story of "me", and in turn, fuel the story of "not-me". Is this not how we become scared of death, too? The me will vanish into the not-me, and this is only bad because the "me" somehow exists separate from it until death. It was never separate, for it is only a story, a symbolism. It's like saying you are a rock, but are only smoke. You think you are fixed and static, yet you flow and change, even as you read these words.
    This is what may also be meant by the concept known as "the unborn". This doesn't mean an eternal soul, but when we think of life and death, we think of addition and subtraction; something *added* to reality, and something *taken* away by death. Yet matter itself cannot be created or destroyed, and only ever changed. Death is merely the cessation of form and process, not the taking away of substance from reality. In death, other patterns of life emerge. Can we really then say there is something subtracted, something taken away from the 'sum' of the cosmos? Even with the expansion of the universe, the Conservation of Mass theory is still true. Yet, do we realize this when they think of death?

    In Carlos Castaneda's books, Don jaun was a brujo and his mission to Castaneda was to reveal the 'Nagual'. The Nagual is what has been described in this video. It is that part of ourselves that is wild, free and beyond the natural. I see it like the Spirit in us but there can be no nouns to describe this so it will always remain out of reach for those that require order and the organisation of language. I guess it like a self that exists at a quantum level of reality and its cave is the orderly every day world. The Nagual is the power behind the wheel for it allows a person to have strength in life and carry out their limited ambitions, this is why it has been associated with shamanism or magical practices. The Nagual is the big Spirit part of ourselves that remains always hidden.
    The reason for its hiding is to do with what is called the 'Tonal'., the Tonal is everything that would be considered real, it is our illusion of the physical world. The tonal is our thoughts and ideas that have formed our our reality. Many millions of beings/lives adding to the hologram of what we perceive as our individual world. We are born into order where we are trained in the natural perceptual way to form agreement and consensus. We all see 'tulips' and only a few see alien things that have no description.
    Perception and memory are the abilities of this world that help it make sense., when the body and the world we know fades out there is no-longer an anchor to keep our memories, our identity in order. Our human identity, our mind, our furniture that makes up consciousness fades leaving only awareness of the Nagual, that no-thing that can be every-thing while being nothing every where and at the same time nowhere, with or with out time.

    If you too want to know what is the state of Maharaj. Here is a tip. You try to Understand what is this sense of "I" in you, which is why you feel yourself an individual being in the world. Is this sense "I" not based of all mental suffering. Is this sense "I" is not illusionary and created due to conditioning by which individual body-mind organism start thinking itself as individual one who is having a body and certain experiences in its living environment. Try to sense your beingness (in silence) without bring your body and its experience into picture.

    He spoke of the seed. The seed is no thing yet all that is before it sprouts creating mind, then space (form), then time. This seed state is awareness experiencing itself only. There is no mind there, no you, no me, no time, no space, no emotion, no joy, and no love even. It just is. It is true that you are that, but it is also true that you are this. Everyone’s striving for something they don’t understand, and can only experience through being completely annihilated and merging into. Should ask yourself why you created a world and took on a form in the first place. It’s not a mistake for the ego to correct. Be happy you are alive, know yourself… Be grateful that’s there’s anything at all. God plays games, and these games will go on for eternity. He (you) has nothing else to do, and plays in form because he loves it, he loves himself so he takes form to play and explore. Why else?

      Personality can be anything brother....it has nothing to do with realisation or "I" dissolution. Since where "I" dissolves, there's already no "I". And personality or "I" could be anything according to the upbringing and the whole journey of life whatever has moulded the "I".

    Question, at 0:36 Maharaj says "you can only watch the events happen, you can't use consciousness to do or undo anything". At 2:52 he says "if this body and this sense of I am are going to vanish, why not use them while you have them". If "you" can't do anything how is it possible to "use" them? Any thoughts on this?

    • @hear-and-know
      @hear-and-know 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don't think with the mind, let events happen. If you think you can't do anything, eventually dissatisfaction will build up anyway, the life force will find a means to express itself. Ultimately things happen by themselves. It may seem contradictory to the mind. But effort and resignation are part of the play. I think this is why Maharaj emphasized earnestness, and a yearning for truth.

    • @flatearthmerchandise5979
      @flatearthmerchandise5979 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maharaj Is using words here to relay a concept to the listener for the purpose of understanding through thought (mind), I am only trying to understand in that same capacity. I don't think he is trying to communicate to us with the intent to not use the mind to understand what is being said or as you are suggesting "Don't think with the mind, let events happen".

    Deep into the labyrinth of the suspended mind, in the immanent advaitic self, beyond the language and its hefty symbols, a placeless yet pleasant void, where only the profound Apophatic theologia flows out of the hermetic paradoxical love... blissfully negating the very existence of the subjective individual who is seemingly experiencing all these... Where the individual mind becomes fully conscious of its divine non-existence and happily drowns itself into the causeless no-thingness of the absolute; out of which the infinite existence projects eternally. Contrary to what the 'waking mind' tries hard to justify, rationality is in essence nothing but irrational intuitions, only externally covered in fancy costumes. In other words, 'reason' seems fine and dandy, but is ultimately fake and unreal.

    I think Nisargadatta disliked himself very much, because he rarely if ever spoke about that which is most real: his personal experience. To hide this, he created an alibi, the utterly abstract idea of consciousness.

    • @cspace1234nz
      @cspace1234nz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Well you completely missed the point didn't you and in that sense Nisargadatta is probably the ultimate guru. You might be best sticking with a low-level, soft talking, good looking, well-behaved teacher who tells you exactly what you want to hear.

    • @michaeljacobs8920
      @michaeljacobs8920 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Or the other way around. The man is dead now - we can take an unbiased look at his teachings. Self-contempt - as consistently practiced by Nisargadatta - is not the road to happiness and self-realization, you know. Quite the opposite.

    • @cspace1234nz
      @cspace1234nz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      What do you want, 'happiness' or self-realisation ??

    • @youknewthiswascomingpete7249
      @youknewthiswascomingpete7249 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      You should take a look at "I Am That". Maharaj was not self-contemptuous, but he did disregard his own personality, which he regarded as mere conditioning, something accidental and not conducive to actual happiness. Maharaj was trying to point people to states of being deeper and more fulfilling than the personality.

    • @michaeljacobs8920
      @michaeljacobs8920 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is nothing wrong with our personality - it serves as our tool to interact with the world and thus recognize our limited beliefs and opinions. People who obsessively disregard their personality tend to be driven by unresolved feelings of guilt and shame. In all likelihood, Nisargadatta's personal agenda was to hide and run away from those sentiments.
