      You risk turning this into a form of entertainment. Most people would rather talk about it than put it into practice. The mind loves to talk about it 😊 and keeps you busy thinking about it instead of doing what is suggested: to dwell in the sense of I Amness.
      A very good video nonetheless and worth listening to a few times over. Note that Nisargadatta didn't suggest that we sit around a campfire talking about it 😅

    My teacher Ramesh Balsekar was a devotee of Nisargadatta Maharaj . His teachings are very clear. The only truth is an impersonal sense of I am everything else is a concept. His emphasis was on peace of mind in daily living. He and his devotee Gautam Sachdeva have many hours of teachings on you tube. Ramesh passed in 2009 but Gautam is still alive and well (June 2024).

    I have struggled to truly understand what the *I AM'* is when told to focus on it. Invariably I find I stay in my thoughts trying to figure it out. But when he just quoted Nisargadatta saying *'The I AM is the AWARENESS **_before_** thoughts'* It suddenly snapped in place and became so clear. 21:48 thank you!

      the I Am isnt the True Self...the I Am is is sort of in between the ego and the True Self..the I Am is always in conjuction with creation..the True Self is beyond anything created...its the True Self that is beyond thoughts..when you realize It the everything and the nothing will vanish...

      You may find what Eckhart Tolle said helpful…”the silence that follows I Am is closer to who you are than any word or concept.” The irony is that the individual self, (the personal ego) which doesn’t really exist except as a thought, wants “it,” but it can’t have it because it’s very need to “own” is what prevents us from seeing that we already are what we seek 😂

    • @chitraisenlightened

      when Nisargadatta was just paying attention to his I Am we could also say he was paying attenton to the witness consciousness or the presence of god..the *reflected awreness*..you have to be completely enlightened to know exaclty what real awarness is..

    I had the same experience as Adya. Then when I met Adya I had a sudden awareness that his message and gift could not come from words, so I stopped listening and just looked into his eyes for the whole talk and someting unspeakable occurred beyond words. Then I asked him what happened, he said that I experienced a direct Silent Transmision. At that time I was not sure what he ment but I trusted in time it would unfold when I was ready over the next few years, and it Did! The Truth is beyond words. And Nasergadata actually says that in I Am That ! Being willing and honest is all you need .

    Sorry this misses the point. "I am" was intended to be a stepping stone to the Absolute Supreme Reality (his words) which is . . . well see for yourself what it is because that will change over time. As he said frequently "Just keep going . . .Just keep going beyond". Upon deep reflection it is hard to find anything of consequence different between his teachings and Dzogchen. Every single time I read his words they have more meaning for me through the passage of time and my own changing understanding. Finally now it's as if each and every word is exploding off the page. Nothing wasted. Nothing extra. I consider him the greatest spiritual teacher of our time and I don't know everything but I've deefinitely done my homework. Of course great for my karmic situation. We are all on our own paths to the same place. Good luck everyone. You Are That.

      right..nisargadatta realized the True Self..the I Am is not the *True Self*..meditating on the I Am, which is the sense of i, (more like the ego) when there is creation is similar to meditating on the witness consciounss, or the the presence of god..when you realize the True Self there wont be anything created..the True Self is beyond anything created..the True Self is prior to the everything and the nothing..

    Even after attaining enlightenment multiple times, I still read and listen to "I am that" and still I find myself having to rewind a quote of his; they simply hit so hard that they often fly right over your head (actually feels that way, and then I try to grab it with my stupid intellect 😅) and often they make so much sense and are so obvious that our dual nature just hears them and thinks "ah" or "ohhhh yeah that's right" and then we need to consume more of his sayings for further clarification the moment after 😂😂😂.
    We always forget our true nature, and this man NM was simply steady and firm in that knowledge of "I am".
    I listen to him almost everyday, very good to play Chess to.

    My experience of reading "I Am That" is similar in that I really didn't understand most of it. But there was one quote that stuck with me and it is really an obvious reality about life. He said something like "nothing can live without destroying something else".That's not some esoteric wisdom that no one knows, but for some reason reading about someone saying that truth out loud really struck me. I need to read it again. I don't even remember where, when, and why I bought the book.

      @@nothinghere1996 better than to go into the metaphycics is to see the basics. Are you aware right now? Probably. Is there anything that has to be 'fixed' with that awareness? probably not, you are whole and complete in your existence as you are. Just look for yourself, don't let anybody tell who you are. The illusion is the separateness of yourself from the World and other. so what is illusive is the conception of yourself as a separate entity outside the World, which make you think you are something 'other', something not really complete. What nonduality offer is pointers to the Absolute, that which you truly are. That can lead you away from the misconception of yourself as a defective entity that has to do a lot of 'things' in order to become complete and worthy the World and you ideas of who you should be.

      @nothinghere1996 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@denlillaekorren we couldn't be further opposed if we tried, although I appreciate your reply. For me there is a duality. There has to be, like particles and waves. The first part is matter. you. him. her. she. it. The second part is Soul. While they inhabit the same space, they are not connected. The Soul can only see through the eyes of the host it's in. it cannot hear, smell touch or not taste. It cannot hear the thoughts of the consciousness its living inside.
      As for the absolute.. do you mean God? If so, God. is not an absolute. It is a machine. A prison. you are the guard.
      But after billions of years in solitary, the Soul consciousness is long dead. And whoever claims it becomes it.
      That is the meaning of the the Father and I are one. And if you birth the Soul (aka Enlightenment), then you are the Son of man.

      @@nothinghere1996 thanks for your comment, I actually don't think we see things different, all I propose is that you discern between ideas, that is from and made up by the mind, and what you can clearly see for yourself by looking at your direct experience. It is as simple as that. There is no need for metaphysics or philosophy. The absolute is maybe simply your name for the soul? It doesn't matter in the end. The only thing important is the clear seeing in the present awareness that is your true nature. Simple and clear, not strange at all..

    Very confusing - The one-thing I know for certain is that I exist. Yet he is talking about no-thing-everythinging. If you read Nisagadatta's book the unborn he points out the illusion of the individual separate sovereign independent self or me-energy it's the I am-ness that creates the illusory individual me-ness my-ness I-ness energy. Adyshansti also has a course on no-self so it goes around in circles. Like most of the teachings.

    Read what Nisagadatta says about Awareness - it's neither Consciousness nor Unconsciousness it's that which is aware of both the pair of opposites. The book I am That is not the best book it's early and his later works are much clearer. The individual me-energy is the illusion of bondage. Thinking I am God or I am liberated is the delusion of the individual liberation. Those who say they are liberated are not, those who don't say are.

    I don't exist. I never have existed as an individual; I am not a drop of water in the ocean, but I am the ocean. I am one with the whole, with The Eternal and Infinite. I don't have a past, present or future. I am out of time and space. There is not and never has been an existent I. This body-mind has been an instrument through which life has flown, the Being, the Conscience has manifested to experience Itself without any own volition from my part. In conclusión, I am not a person with free will, and so the concepts of guilt, responsibility or merit lost every meaning, COMPLETLY AND ANSOLUTLY ELIMINATING THE IDEA OF KARMA OR NEED OF REINCARNATION to correct or pay for errors or to receive rewards for acquired merits.

    Nice, but sometimes Adyashanti was speaking nonsense. His claim that Nissargadatta was acting contradictory or paradoxically because he was giving one person one advice and a different person a different advice is just foolish. Its like saying a doctor is contradicting himself for giving different patients different medicine.

  • @d1427
    @d1427 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I don't think that 'teachings' is the right idea associated with Nisargadatta's confession of direct experience. Nor is the 'administration of medicine' according to one's needs. He was not a self-proclaimed guru or a teacher the way people label him today. His 'lineage' was only by chance- he did not get any directions from his teacher to teach but to realize himself by the way of 'I am'. His dialogues where spontaneous manifestations of an impersonal consciousness, of life itself that oscillated in between the 'nothingness' of reality and the 'everythingness' of life- therefore some apparent contradictions in his speech.

  • @chiptowers1
    @chiptowers1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I would say the book should have stayed on the shelf or even better not purchased it in the first place. Who is this Adyashanti and the rest of these Guru's who all sit around in nappies speaking so called wise words like it's better to do that right up until they die instead of working.
    For a start his non duality approach beliefs tells me he like many other Guru's and teachers did/do not have clue how the intelligent species initially Formed. Without going into detail, basically you your lineage was initially FORMED ( your I am) not BORN ( your being)and that alone proves your DUALITY as one part of your Duality. Therefore anything spoken or taught by Guru's who do not understand the DUALITY process of how it derived would be teaching false teachings that does not fit with the reality of things.
    More so, consciousness is not the be all end all of things because consciousness controls nothing and consciousness requires a physical faculty to be a part of and to be implemented as a tool for awareness and recall after stored.
    This Adyashanti couldn't afford to leave the mess of Bombay so the next best thing was to dream that he is the Universe, he could take a trip without going on a trip. To sound paradoxal and contradictory by a Guru is just a verbal gimmick used to justify whats being said and confuse the listener.
