This had me crying happy tears. What amazing athletes these women are, making us all so proud.
Caroline & Tatiana are strong and tall as the waves, what a powerful trip to ride those waves. Fabulous adventure. Perfect waves. Women are capable of anything they want to do. You are a tarrific example to all ladies.
that was beautiful. Vahine lives and surfs at Teahupo'o. She knows that wave as well or better than anyone else. So great that a Polynesian woman is the winner on a Polynesian wave. & the South American woman was no slouch either.
In my 70s. I grew up surfing in New England late 60s-70s. Big up for the drive and tenacity of these powerful women.
Amazing Women! I would have loved to see what Erin Brooks would do at Teahupo’o.. Go Vahine!🤙🏽🔥❤️
Gorgeous! The wave shots with surfers emerging was just 😍. Ty
Muy bien Brissa. COSTA RICA. PURA VIDA
Go all the way Brisa , we love you so damn much. Pura vida 🤘🏼🇨🇷
Quelle plaisir de voir ton sourire final ❤❤❤
Congrats to all the wahine. Incredibly fit, they now have the leg strength, core strength and flexibility to take on the big hollow ones. That one drop by Tatiana was great. She hung on, pulled in deep and made it. Gotta say that Vahine is really dialed in to Teahupoo. Her take offs were in the right place and not too late. And she knew how to pull in just right to make it. She obviously has some really good coaching.
Yeah Vahine, stoked for you. Look forward to seeing you at 1-2 slop Oceanside pier. Start your own vlog and go the Florence route.
@@TheSurfrer1 Grew up ln San Clemente, now injured La Mesa, love watching ( due to disability) , would love to watch in Oceanside, how can I find out before events ? Thank you. 7760 Parkway Drive, #15 A, La Mesa, CA, 91942 thanks !
That is amazing. Then there shouldn't be women and men's categories? Equal to all. Lets go!!!
I triple "like" this - scratch that. I LOVE this times 10. So freakin awesome and amazing what these women have accomplished. Perfect to see Vahine get the win. Teahupo'o is Bomb.
Rocking it ladies..inspirational!
I wish these videos felt more like real coverage and less like promotion for the image of the brand. The women's story is great and surfing is a sport where they can compete fully equal to the men like rock climbing or maybe gymnastics. The women are learning these epic waves right before our eyes so hopefully that gets more attention. And one wishes the stewards of the sport put the surfers into these woman versus nature situations more consistently.
Tatiana!!! Let’s go girl!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🌊🌊
what a gorgeous wave spray
Tainá 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷💪
Fearless women we admire your courage, what a fantastic waves...You look outstanding out there riding like Jesus.
💪
whoohooooooooooooo
Womens killed it 🔥 Especially French one 🇫🇷
Local knowledge and being frontside is probably more of an advantage at big Teahupo’o than anywhere else. Running the surfing in Tahiti was a strategic master stroke for the French. Probably another medal for France in the men’s.
goofy foot you mean?
@@andyetheridge goofy on a left is be frontside, simple
@3:34 - not just the barrel of the event. best women's barrel at snapper, or the whole super bank even (that I've seen)
Just beautiful 😍.
Can one of the local elders Please explain to these people how to pronounce teahoupu properly. Respect and thanks to the Tahitian people
🌊🏄🏿♀️❤️
Vahine has the “home wave” advantage literally. But awesome nevertheless. Go Sufing ladies!!!!!!!🤩
Caitlin’s barrel was a 10+ for me 😊
Go Tati ❤🇧🇷🐬✨❤️
Go Brisa🙌🏼🏄🏽♀️🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷
are there any pinkertons?
凄いゼ🌊🌊🏄🌊🌊😊👍✨
Do you have a plan ?
congrats to Woman surfing " great level and comitment"
♀️👍
Can someone please explain why this is considered a big achievement for women? Were women kept from doing these things? What am I missing?
i read (I don't know if it's true) that women were not allowed, before the games, to ride this wave because it was considered as too dangerous. About Vahine, because she is borned there, the wave is her amusement since her childhood (My english is not perfect, sorry)
It’s mostly a cultural achievement. It’s not that women were barred from surfing these waves, but that in local culture, they were considered too dangerous for the women. So of course that would’ve made the women more reticent to surf these waves. If any one man or woman surfs these waves with reticence, they will definitely fail. Guaranteed, so those who did actually venture were either a phenomenon or failed because they were doubtful of themselves. Surfing is very mental as I imagine you know.
You need a lot of oomph and grit to succeed at Teahupo’o and Pipeline no matter the gender. So the mental attitude of “I probably shouldn’t be here” was a great hurdle for many women. They are scary waves, you need all the peace of mind and assuredness you can get.
And in terms of physical strength, ounce per ounce of paddling, men are stronger paddlers and are heavier set when riding the tube, which can be a benefit for these types of waves and conditions. Smaller joints are indeed more fragile, so it has a physical component that shouldn’t be completely ignored. These women train hard. Which is another thing that has evolved: training, morphing their bodies and their skills, making them more apt to succeed in these conditions.
So in short, it’s mostly a cultural evolution, that women can see a plethora of other women surf these waves with strength and mastery.
Interestingly, there are studies that show that the genetic predisposition for sports development is gender based so that if you’re a male your capacity to emulate is infinitely greater if you see a male doing it, and likewise a female drives more sports development from watching other females. So naturally, if only men surf these waves, the capacity for women to emulate was diminished. Now, an eight-year-old little girl can see these women surf and she will definitely genetically develop in a different manner just from them surfing those waves, kind of as a humanity organism. A collective genetic predisposition. And it’s gender specific apparently.
Now why the presenters do all the psychological hullabaloo about it is very cringy but I suppose that things only change culturally when everyone agrees that it is some sort of “revolution”? It makes me cringe as well, and if this surf Circus weren’t run mostly by Americans, it would probably be less cringey. Though isn’t it an Aussie lady waxing on in cringey fashion? I suppose it’s part of the sickness of the surf Circus world.
But for women, it’s really cool that they’re all competing there together as Olympic athletes in a really difficult and technical wave. It’s very cool for them and it’s cool for women who surf. 🤙🏽
@@Alpha-Andromeda Thank you for your explanation
IVE GOT A PLAN ARTHUR
Anyone done switch backside here on a heavy one? AI?
🦘
If this video is about the best of women at the Olympics in Tahiti, then why are we wallowing thru re-runs of Hawaiian surf?
Women are easy on par with the men. Very smooth in spite chop conditions vs what the men got. Let them all battle together. Or are they worried only few men will remain come quarterfinals?
Is this at Pipeline?
They showed some pipeline footage but mostly its Tahiti
« we’re here and we belong » that lady psychologizing everything so much she’s cringe worthy.
The women charging and getting shacked
Pronounced “cho poo” not “teahupoo”!
Listen to the local pronounce it at 10:25.
Blind jo 2024 Cha't what a mess even at night time french people can,t watch teahupo'o surf on tv please elon musk coule y coule ypou hello us thank,s

@@Hydrnaught LOL ok bud, would love to see you surf a wave even half this size. you’re so jealous hahaha
Women surfing has always been boring as shit, grew up in Encinitas and you had an occasional chick out there and you could always tell they flail all over most of the time face it boring shit
these girls are ripping massive barrels, what the hell are you even talking about
@@wearesatellites91 he's just being Misogynistic leave him alone
@@Hn1lu-Malody lmao literally it's like every time women do the same thing as the men, which these men of course have been saying "no they can't" for years and years, some of them double down HARD despite being factually demonstrably proven wrong.
