I bullshit you not. I have the Pixel 9 pro xl. I'm coming from a 15 pro Max. I must say they got me leaving apple. This set up is buttery smooth. This phone feels just as fast as The S24 and 15 pro Max. The features are sick. I'm impressed. It took me a minute to adjust from apple. However, Im sold. The camera is Top notch and AI is on point. If you love I phone you will put it down for this. This phone is very capable.

Google was really targeting iPhone users with the Pixel 9. It feels like an iPhone when using it, but taken to the next level. Super smooth, very fast, and a simple yet refined software experience. That’s what a lot of people are looking for in a device

I use a Samsung phone, a Pixel phone, and an Apple phone. My main phone is the Samsung because it does everything well. Plus, there is just something special about One UI that lets me multitask in a way I haven’t been able to with the Pixel or Apple. The Pixel sometimes takes better photos than the Samsung, and the Apple has good videos, but my overall favorite phone is the Samsung. I am planning to only use two phones for now, and that will be the Samsung and the Apple.

I had the s3, s5, and s7. before switching to the Pixel 2xl, 4xl, 7Pxl, and now the 9Pxl. Idk. Samsung has come a long way since back then, but Google experience is seamless, rewarding, and cutting edge on Pixels, especially when you invite all the other Google home devices into the the mix. Samsung has it's whole eco system too, but there's nothing enticing me to go back to Galaxy phones. All said, both companies are putting out amazing tech, and competition is great for consumers.

Coating on the S24 wears off prematurely. Have had my ultra for 10 months and Samsung has agreed to replace my screen. Make sure you get the extra warranty. Have also had issues with thermal throttling in bright light. Was in Greece and could barely see my screen. For the first time in a long time, I am not upgrading to the s25 until I am comfortable the screen issues have been fixed.

    • @sluice2015

@@stephenrye6474 yup! i can testify this, regarding the screen coating. ive had my S24U for 6months exact now. ive had a screen protector on the entire time. it was peeling the other day so i took it off, decided to try to use the phone without one for once. the literal next day, i tried cleaning the screen with my cloth as normal, and a bunch of weird smudges started to appear. had to ask on reddit to find out it was the coating wearing/coming off. according to some users, taking a screen protector can also take off the coating, as well as using alcohol to clean the screen. at the same time, some users report theirs coming off without having any protectors on and/or cleaning the screen. i have a family member whos had their S24U since march, and their's is coming off too and they never put on a protector on their phone. so the major selling point for this phone is actually a temporary feature.

I'm fortunate to not be a busy person. Once upon a time I was caregiver for my husband's sister and for him. They both had several health issues, which meant several doctor appointments. And, during covid, the cell phone had to be topped off before I went anywhere because, in the city I live in, we had to park, call the desk to check in, wait for someone to come out to the car to ask the usual list of questions, zap our foreheads for our temperatures, then abandon us until the desk called us to say, "come on in". I also found it easier and faster to keep track of appointments in the calendar app, and keep the necessary information required for both my sister-in-law and husband in a notes app. So, faster charge times would have been a plus back in 2020, but I managed by plugging in every evening so as not to worry about running out of juice. Now they are both gone so I no longer have to worry about keeping my phone charged to the max daily. In fact, my S22 Ultra usually has to get plugged in every three days or so now! I am (obviously) starting to look at the newer phones, and the Pixel has piqued my interest for a while. But, I'm afraid I will miss the stylus that I am used to having going back to my Note 9, so this new search is taking me more time then I anticipated.

A major selling point of the pixel is these ai features and removing them takes away from a major distinguishing factor for the phone.

It would be good to remember that the S24 Ultra comes with 256G in UFS 4.0 and not 128G in UFS 3.1, But above all, the S24 Ultra has a processor that is 2 years ahead of the Tensor G4 and currently does not cost $1300, but $1000-$1100.
These Pixel 9 Pro / 9 Pro XL are not bad smartphones, but they are actually way too expensive for what they are, they are are not even on par or compete with the iPhones 14 Pro / 14 Pro Max and S23 Ultra, so S24 Ultra / iPhone 15 Pro Max 🤷🏽‍♂️, they can try to compete with the S23 Plus / iPhone 14 Pro standard, and even then, the only thing they do better than the S23 Plus / iPhone 14 Pro is zoom, and above all, Gemini (Google Ai) is not even exclusive to the Pixel, so 🤷🏽‍♂️

I was really optimistic about the video quality. I was hoping this is the year the pixel would do the same, if not better than the iPhone in video shooting quality. It seems for a creator who uses his phone to create social media video content on the go, the iPhone is still the way to go.
But I have used android for the most part of my life. I love the pixels so much even tho I have never owned one. Off I have all the money to spend, I would get a pixel 9 pro as my main device, and an iPhone for social media and video production.

    1. Does Pixel outputs images in 50 MP or 12 MP? Pixel 8 images were Pixel binned 12 MP images. Even though sensor is 50 MP. I have found the images losing clarity on Zooming compared to my iPhone.
    2. Can the telephoto be used to take portraits? iPhones have this option to take beautiful portraits using 5x/3x lens, which no one talks about
    3. Do they support HEIF/HEIC format? It is sad the none of the previous Pixels supported HEIF, which is half the file size of a regular JPG file...

Heres are my findings so far...upgrading from a s22 ultra. I tested the s24 ultra and the pixel 9 xl in store hefore choosing the google pixel. I was a little disappointed that the layout on the s24 looked the exact same as my s22 literally everything. The only thing that was diffeeent was the screen resolution.
I use the file management system and video more than i do pictures and the samsung hands down is a file management beast.no slow downs no messing about. Usb amd large videos are recognized quickly. Also the built in video player is better than the google photos player. When it comes to the pixel there it feels a little slow when scanning thru files.
As far as video i prefer the pixels smoothness. Ive put thw samsung thru its paces and have experienced slow down after shooting for a bit and this translates to the image quality when zooming in and out run and gun style. The phone gets hot and starts to lag, there has also been instances where the camera took a while to open on my s22 after some heavy use and yhen force closed, so i was a bit leary and didnt want to experience this again.
The form factor of the pixel 9 XL is better and feels just tight after adding a case and the camera bump helps u with handling the phone with dexterity. For me the pixel heats up fairly quickly but didnt lag so thats a plus.
Another reason why i opted for the pixel was that the s22 ultra started having chronic antenna issues which samsung knew about anlfter some nonsense update, and then kept sending updates trying to fix it which it never did.

at minute 7:30 you discussed the charging speed. Your results differ significantly from other tech reviewers, who mentioned getting similar to the Google claimed speed. GSM Arena review got a result of 67% charge in 30 minutes. I am wondering what type of charger you used. Is it a PPS charger? PPS 45W would be necessary to get the claimed speeds by Google, and your results do not seem to be accurate.
Edit: also, at 10:15 the Gemini icon is blue, not red, which indicates that Gemini Advanced is not being used. I wonder if this is why the response was wildly inaccurate, since Advanced is a far superior model? Do you have Gemini Advanced enabled?

@@CallMeKJOS MKBHD is correct that 37W is the max charging speed for the XL, as claimed by Google. Google does not claim 45W charging, but rather sells a 45W PPS charger that covers the max of 37W. If it is charging at 37W, then it should charge from 0 to 70 in about 30 minutes. It doesn't matter if you use a 75W or 100W charger, the output will come down to the level accepted by the phone, and PPS is the technology that makes the phone charge more rapidly and efficiently.
-The PCMag Pixel 9 Pro XL Review found that the phone charged from 0 to 100 in 1 hour and 25 mins.
-The GSM Arena review found that the phone charged from 0 to 100 in 1 hour and 18 mins.
These two results are comparable to each other, so if your phone is taking an hour/hour and a half to get to 70% I think that is a charger issue, and not a phone issue. I would suggest finding a PPS charger that is compatible to see if that resolves the issue. Either way, I will be receiving my Pixel Pro XL tomorrow, so I will be able to test it soon!
