I agree with the xt60 mounting. The hardmounted one on the updated version sucks! Looks good but battery options is limited. I had a F6d Evoque and with a Gopro there wasn't space for a big lipo for longer flights.. And add all the plastic sideplates and it was just a lot of unecessary stuff that don't really matter, I'd choose this kind of frame over the Evoques every time.
I hear you, when I build I like to leave the XT60 running out the back with about an inch or half inch of cable, just enough to allow flexibility for battery mounting. It's really the angel of that mount that gets you, if it were totally vertical it might be better. That Evoque F6d is super nice, I built a 6inch and I love it for the flying I do, mostly mounting cruising with a GoPro for cinematic shots. 7" is technically better for that but the batteries, weight, and $$ get to be too much, 6" is juuuuust right!
Just got the o3 version for my first 5". Its very fast but i havent found a place to really open it up yet. I disarmed on accident about 20ft high at 25mph and it was not damaged at all.
I hear you, it's hard to find a nice open space to fly such a fast quad safely. I've also disarmed accidentally when something goes wrong because it's like a panic instinct in me. Just head out to an open field and take your time, have loads of patience and you'll have a blast with it. And if you haven't already, spend some time in the simulator. I'm not a gamer and playing video games at my age doesn't come natural, but the experience served me well. I love this quad!
Great review. I have the newer version with the fixed XT60 connector and I agree with you, I wish it was a loose connector. I made a sort of adapter that goes into the fixed XT60 and has a male XT60 connected at a 70° angle pointing forward. This solves it for me because the battery cables are too short to reach that fixed connector.
I love the look of captured xt60's but it's annoying when they angle them back because you end up using an adapter most of the time. Sounds like you found a good solution!

I just received the DC version with ELRS and GPS. It’s ready to go for a maiden flight but too much rain in my area. I wish I got the XT60 loose lead version, the captured version I got is a pain, and now I have to get a 2-inch extension to maintain battery balance. Price wise it was about the same as a custom-built quad but without the work of doing it yourself. Hopefully this is the start of new trend.
That's awesome that you just got your shiny new DC Nazgul, I know how that is with the weather, here in Ecuador we'll get fog and rain for weeks. Right now is insanely sunny though, guess it's global warming 😂 Personally I prefer the XT60 to run out the back with about an inch of cable free and that's what I do when I build my own. Lately manufacturers have been doing the captured XT60 which looks super nice, but is not so practical. Like you, I have to use an extension on my JohnnyFPV QAVS2 build for most batteries, and I would prefer not to... weight aside it's two more points of failure. Maybe there are batteries with longer leads?
Hey there, thanks a lot for your feedback! This is a great choice for cinematic FPV shots. I run lipos on mine and I can get about 4.5-5 minutes with a 6s 1500mah battery running a GoPro Mini. With li-ion packs, for example, the 4,000mah 6s packs that iFlight sells, you should get around 8-12 minutes with a GoPro...
@@colibrifpv Top flight with this drone, congratulations. From what I understood in the comment, the Nazgul DC5 ECO supports a battery with more mAh to make a longer flight, right? I was wondering if the battery with more mAh would not cause problems for the ESC.
Nice review. What would be an economical camera to use with the analog version? Or would it be easier and not not much more expensive to just use the O3 system?
Hey Thomas, are you new to FPV? What I really mean is, do you already own a pair of goggles? If not, definitely go O3, and I would recommend the Integra goggles which can be had at a very good price right now. If you want latest and greatest, go with Goggles 3. Investing in digital right off the bat will cost more up front, but will serve you later down the road. If you go analog to save money today, you will probably end up re-buying all your gear down the road and won't save anything...
As of this moment, no, the DJI Ns goggles have not yet been updated to work with the DJI O3 Air Units so you should consider the Integra Goggles or the Goggles 2. FYI it is likely that DJI will update the Ns goggles to work with the O3 in the future but there is no guarantee.
Hey thanks for watching! The Nazgul Evo is awesome, you're going to love it! You should setup flight modes on a switch in Betaflight, most people setup a 3-position switch with Air/Acro-Horizon-Angle modes. Once you bind your radio, check that your switches are working in the receiver tab, and if so, assign them in the modes tab.
Great video, new subscriber here! I’m planning to enter to the fpv world after spending several hours in the sim, and I was decided to go for the Avata 2, but today I found out the Nazgul and it seems pretty interesting, although I have ZERO experience with bind and fly drones, and I find a bit overwhelming all the process of choosing the components and assembling the quad, so I don’t know if it is a good idea to go for the Nazgul or just for the avata 2 (as it is a drone ready to fly, but way more expensive) Can you tell me your thoughts about this? What would you do if you were a completely beginner? Thank you!
Hey thanks for following my channel! Going with the Avata 2 will be way more beginner friendly and way easier at first, but it's not really "true FPV" and hardcore FPV pilots turn their noses up at the Avata because all of its smart features take much of the the skill out of it. The Avata is like buying a smart car, the Nazgul is like buying a Porsche with a manual transmission so you can get maximum performance and truly haul ass. The Nazgul will be harder to setup at first, be more likely to crash and break, but the performance and power is on a totally different level. If you value true FPV skills and have the patience and dedication to learn, go Nazgul. If you want the best user experience and most fun and practical option in the short term, go Avata. One thing to remember is that your DJI Goggles 3, or 30-50% of your investment if you go Avata, can be used for future FPV drones like the Nazgul in the future, that's money you would spend either way...
Here's another option... Start in FPV with something WAAAY easier to fly than the Nazgul, like the Pavo20 Pro. You can fly that for a while, have tons of fun, then step up to something super powerful like the Nazgul. Would be a good thing to buy this drone and use with my googles 3 and the dji remote controller 3? Thanks for the review 👏🏼🚀
Hey Jairo, thanks a lot for watching! This is an awesome multipurpose 5" drone that can do just about anything, but I wouldn't recommend using either the DJI remote 3 or the goggles 3 with the O3 Air Unit... Both of those devices have had issues disconnecting. An ELRS radio will serve you much better, more reliable and with better range, and something like a Radio Master pocket or Boxer are great and not too expensive. As for the Goggles 3, there is a documented issue with them losing connection to the O3 air unit. I assume that will be fixed in a firmware update, but as of right now, don't use goggles 3 with the O3 Air Unit. Sorry it's not the answer you wanted to hear 😬
Thanks mate. Thinking to get one over bob57😊. How's 900 mhz working for you. Just ordered radiomaster ELRS in both bands. Like some free style but main gol is medium range. Is 900 OK in free style?
Hey Peter, if you already have a radio or module that supports 900mhz ELRS I highly recommend it. The only disadvantage will be that the antennas are somewhat larger, and the latency is somewhat higher, but honestly, virtually no one aside from a professional FPV racer would ever notice a tiny increase in latency. The advantages you gain are better range and penetration... 2.4ghz will go very, very far with line of sight, but it's the penetration that matters, i.e., flying behind trees, etc.
@@colibrifpv thanks, have both bands on the radio but I think I'll go with 900mhz. What about BOB57😜 it's so tempting. Bit gigger battery, longer flight time. I'm still quite new. Flying Avata for a year. What you think? 😊🙏

Hey Ryan, yes the DJI O3 system absolutely will work with both, but there are a few caveats. First, you might have better range with an ELRS radio, so don't fly too crazy far. Second, there is currently a bug where the Goggles 3 disconnect.... that's a BIG deal, but it should be corrected through a firmware update very soon. If you're new to FPV, just use your existing DJI radio, and if you get pretty serious about it, you'll want to buy an ELRS radio in the future, like a Radio Master Boxer...

@@RyanFPV1 You're welcome, always happy to talk drones! Either of those are solid, the MK5 will cost you a bit more but has better electronics, but either way I recommend going ELRS and spending a few extra bucks for a GPS module and set up GPS rescue in Betaflight, it could save your investment!
@colibrifpv you mentioned this O3 bug with the goggles 3 about a month ago, any update on that? Is it still a problem? Great video, I like that you went over the differences between nazgul models.
Is this version compatible with DJ goggles and controller? I want to buy DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 and DJI Goggles 3. Will everything work? The drone I want to buy is iFlight Nazgul Evoque F5 V2.
Yes, absolutely, you can purchase any GPS module and connect it to an available UART on the flight controller, then you just need a mounting solution. There are TPU prints available for this drone which you can either print or purchase from iFlight.
Hey there, nothing major, although when I fly for the first time at a new location, it can take a minute or two. Also, every now and then the GPS will not be recognized at all, but when I unplug and replug battery (restart FC), it works normally.
@@colibrifpv Sometimes it takes like 5-6mins to lock and I have tried restart FC , it doesnt help. I think the placement of the GPS is not ideal. My cb25s and manta36 with cheaper GPS locked really quick at the same location with nazgul eco. I think everything is good about this drone but not the GPS
Honestly both are great quads, but at different price points. This "eco" version of the Nazgul is using cheaper electronics and GepRC doesn't have an "eco" option. As for the frame, the Nazgul frame is very good, has a better camera dampening system with silicon instead of TPU, but has a tendency to break arms. If you want to save a bit, go with this one. If budget is no concern, an Evoque or the Mark5 are both solid premium options...

Why not have speed in mph?
No reason other than that metric is the Betaflight default, you can change that in the Betaflight settings 👍
👍
Hey there my friend, nice to see you here, thanks a lot for your support!
Is it under 250g? If it’s over it does it come with remote Id?
No unfortunately, on both counts
@@colibrifpvis there a cheap remote id option? I don’t want to spend $200 on a module, is there like a solder on one?
@@AnthonysHobbies The closest thing I know about is called DoneTag BS, it's under $100 and is super lightweight. Unfortunately, there are not a ton of great options. Here's the link: dronetag.com/products/bs/
Will this work with my DJI goggles 3 and RC3? Thanks guys
@@colibrifpv mate you absolute legend, thanks for getting back to me. Answered everything and more. I’ve actually been looking at the boxer, looks mean! Hopefully that bug gets fixed soon, sounds horrendous! I’ll be ordering either this Nazgul or geprc mark 5 this week, thanks so much man!
@ I’ve had 0 issues so far and flown everyday for about 2 weeks
Is this version compatible with DJ goggles and controller? I want to buy DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 and DJI Goggles 3. Will everything work? The drone I want to buy is iFlight Nazgul Evoque F5 V2.
Is there a way to add a gps after getting the drone? I have no need for one now, but I may add one in the future.
Yes, absolutely, you can purchase any GPS module and connect it to an available UART on the flight controller, then you just need a mounting solution. There are TPU prints available for this drone which you can either print or purchase from iFlight.
Do u have problem with GPS locking satellite?
Hey there, nothing major, although when I fly for the first time at a new location, it can take a minute or two. Also, every now and then the GPS will not be recognized at all, but when I unplug and replug battery (restart FC), it works normally.
@@colibrifpv Sometimes it takes like 5-6mins to lock and I have tried restart FC , it doesnt help. I think the placement of the GPS is not ideal. My cb25s and manta36 with cheaper GPS locked really quick at the same location with nazgul eco. I think everything is good about this drone but not the GPS
Now this to geprc mark 5?
Honestly both are great quads, but at different price points. This "eco" version of the Nazgul is using cheaper electronics and GepRC doesn't have an "eco" option. As for the frame, the Nazgul frame is very good, has a better camera dampening system with silicon instead of TPU, but has a tendency to break arms. If you want to save a bit, go with this one. If budget is no concern, an Evoque or the Mark5 are both solid premium options...
@@colibrifpv i appreciate your response. Finances are not an issues. I just want a great drone with good support/accessible replacement parts. I own a dji mini 3 pro and avata 1
do you know which polarity the antenna is LHCP or RHCP ?
@@ppkus Yes, it's LHCP
@@colibrifpv Thanks so much!
Is there a way to verify which polarity my antennas are? A device maybe? I emailed iflight and they said they ship both antennas... Now um super confused
@@ppkus look at he element on the antenna itself.. it almost always says which it is.... on my Eco, it has "5.8 LHCP" printed on the antennas. Does it indicate on yours?
@@colibrifpv It only says iFlight, nothing else
@@ppkus That's weird it doesn't specify but they practically always ship LHCP antennas with DJI BNF drones and only ship RHCP antennas with analog drones so I would say you're pretty safe to assume that you have LHCP antennas...
Max fly distance elrs vs tbs ?
@@KanchaFPV Either one will get you great range that will most likely outfly your video reception. ELRS 2.4ghz is quickly becoming the standard, but you can choose 900mhz for better range and penetration. I fly TBS crossfire because it performs super well, is very reliable, and I was invested in the system before ELRS come on the scene. To make an informed decision you need the understand that 2.4g has better latency while 900mhz has better range and penetration. If you are getting started, you probably want ELES 2.4g...
@@colibrifpv m planning for tbs868mhz because 915 is band here any tips for that thanks
@@KanchaFPV Good choice, personally I go Crossfire all the way because the peace of mind is worth it to me when I fly over water, distant mountains, etc. Just get the Nazgul Eco and choose crossfire + GPS. Those options cost a little more but for me are totally worth it... bit.ly/EcoDC5 As for radios, personally I love my TBS Tango 2 Pro (folding gimbals) but any radio of your choice will work with a Crossfire module.
betaflight 4.5 preinstalled? hmmm just got 4.3 of evoque version.🤔 not cool man 😅
Mine had 4.5! If I recall, Betaflight 4.4 had major GPS issues with M10 GPS units, so they waited for a long time before upgrading and leapfrogged 4.4, which is why they shipped a lot of quads with 4.3, it was the solid version for a long time. The good news is that iFlight does publish their official Betaflight configurations, check out their Facebook group or e-mail their support, they will get you sorted...
I got avata2 thinking to use googles and controller for Nazgul however I do have TBS T2, it makes me wonder range DJI (cheaper, and I could sell TBS) vs Crossfire ?
I strongly advise you NOT to use the DJI controller with non-DJI FPV drones... although it will work with the Nazgul, many people have lost connection and lost their drones. Use the TBS Tango2, it's an awesome radio system. Even though the crossfire RX costs a few more dollars, it is solid and reliable and that reliability is worth every penny if it prevents you from losing your drone...
@@colibrifpv oh was think I could travel lighter with one controller, thanks for advice, I still can buy drone with DJI and add crossfire if I change mind right
