So many comments demanding stuff, yet nobody compliments how amazing the craftsmanship on that sword is? That's by far the best sword Man at Arms have made! And it's the only sword which damaged something besides plastic and fruits!

Thats because people are inconsiderate. They only want to see something specific instead of realizing everything they make is awesome.
But I'm sorry, I gotta disagree. Awesome as it is, and this is really fuckin awesome, the meteor sword is hands down the best build.

The Iron Helmet made from broad iron and soft steel was beautiful.
The lightsaber katana was beyond creative.
Needle was a great historical build.
Tessaiga was just genius.

When it comes down to this channel, and bladesmithing all together, I'm more of a nerd than any star wars fan or anime fan.
I guess you didn't read the part where I said people are inconsiderate (to the fact this career path takes a lot of time and money), or maybe you didn't notice the part where i said every single build was great...
But I guess as long as people feel like they can bash someone else's opinion its all good right?

The Soul Reaver, Kain's ancient blade, older than any of us, and a thousand times more deadly. The legends claimed, that the blade was possessed, and thrived by devouring the souls of it's victims.... For all our bravado, we knew what it meant, when Kain drew the Soul Reaver in anger... It meant you were dead..

Time fades even legend, and the origin of Soul Reaver has been lost long ago, But its purpose remains - to feed on the souls of any creature it strikes. Kindred, this blade and I.
In the original Blood Omen video game, Soul Reaver is a large two-handed weapon that prevents Kain from utilizing others in his arsenal. Later games depicted it as a one-handed or hand-and-a-half sword.
Another thing to take into account is how big Kain is by the time Soul Reaver 2 comes around. For Kain the blade is a one-handed blade but for a human is it much bigger.

Johny _ Barbarian That'd be awesome. I'd love it if Square-Enix (current owners) would make that six game. I mean, this is the same company that makes Final Fantasy games. They know how to tell a story. It's like Disney gaining Marvel or Star Wars. But instead, they make an action MMO. Sigh.
Soulreaver looks awesome, would love to have one myself. Lore is wrong though, the Bloodreaver (later Soulreaver) was created and used by the vampires, not against them. The original version of the blade drained blood not souls

the physical blade is consuming blood, the sprit of the sword (which is Raziel's soul, somehow :D ) is consuming souls...

Knight zod As much as I hate to admit it, Artorias is the more popular of the characters in the Souls universe. I would also say Solaire's sunlight straight-sword but I feel that would be too easy.
Knight zod They already did Sephiroth's Masamune, which is basically Allone's sword in terms of proportion. Anything they could do for Allone's sword would be a negligible difference.
Knight zod to be precise, Allone uses a so called "nagamaki" and Penetrator's sword, would be a bit to long for their quenching tank.
and after all, Penetrators sword is just a long 2handed sword, with spezial Guard design.
but if you would attempt Artorias Greatsword, especially the Abyss Greatsword version, you would have much more details, design and challenge that would flow into it.
For those who dont know, Artorias Greatsword has 3 versions, 1. Greatsword of Artorias, 2. Greatsword of Artorias (cursed) and 3. Abyss Greatsword, which is the Greatsword, we see during the fight with Artorias.

It's neither of those actually, the Soul Reaver and Raziel have a VERY complicated background...
But after Raziel wieldied it, it quite became a Vampire-Slaying sword since in general it devoured souls.
Windman1995 Technically he is not wrong. The Soul Reaver was forged as a weapon for the Vampires, hence why Janos is the "10th Guardian" He was the guardian of the Reaver. Raziel completes the blade, making it a soul-devouring weapon. Without him though the blade actually drains the blood from it's victims.
Windman1995 the blade itself is vampiric, as is the soul within, therefore for its not necessarily a vampire slaying sword, but THE Vampire sword. Last I checked, that sword slated more demons and humans than it ever did vampires.
But hey. Semantics. Epic sword.

This is amazing craftsmanship. When the Reforged series started, it seemed like the projects lent themselves to more high-tech solutions. They didn't really showcase the skill and artistry that these later projects are now displaying. I didn't get a feel from those early episodes that BK&S had as much talent as they actually do. I'm repeatedly surprised at the variety of techniques that they employ for these builds.

Don't get me wrong, these guys do awesome work with the builds they have done in the past. This one, though uniquely done, the skull head peace looked a little under done and you can see that it wasn't conformed to the blade. Michaelcthulhu did the same sword and well, just watch his video about his version of the Soul Reaver build and you'll see the difference.

So yeah: It's a vampire sword, made by vampires, for vampires, with a vampire-turned-soul-devouring-ghoul living inside it.

Chainedfire88 The Saw Cleaver is more iconic, and its transformation has a fairly simple hinge/lock mechanism that can be very strong. I'm not sure if Ludwig's Holy Blade or the Burial Blade's locking mechanisms would be as strong as the one present in the Saw Cleaver.
If they went into the art on the sheath of Ludwig's Holy Blade and had the smaller sword to fit inside, along with a way to attach and detach it would be by far the most bad-ass thing they will have ever made. I agree the saw cleaver is more iconic but this would be way cooler! :D

Not a vampire slaying sword! It was used by Kain, the vampire. It was also used by the soul reaver Raziel. I'm a huge legacy of kain fan; this was cool to see, though.
Don't forget it was used by Vorador, and forged by the ancient vampires to fight the Hylden.
Such a magnificent sword if only I had the money to buy this fine tool for the day I go adventuring to forgotten tombs. It is the best choice for when you need to do ammo conservation and there is the likelihood that these old derelicts are abandoned but not uninhabited

ANd it's not just my favorite because of it's design, it's because of it's significance to both to the world Nosgoth and the Legacy of Kain series. The Soul Reaver itself is a living blade that's purpose has evolved and adapted as much as it has.
Not to mention it became stronger from not just the elemental forces it absorbed (it's spectral half taking these forces from the forges and fonts.) but also the fact it's the only blade I can think of that grew more powerful from temporal paradoxes when it encountered different versions of itself.
tl;dr The Soul Reaver is as complex as the lore of the Legacy of Kain itself.
The Gentlesaurian Velocidapper I so miss the games....I've only played Soul Reaver 2 and Legacy of Kain: Defiance. They either need to come out with the compendium of these games, or start making more (since technically Kain's in charge of Nosgoth with the full power of Soul Reaver at his disposal)...

Apparently they've aborted 5 LoK games since Defiance came out, the most recent of which was LoK: Dead Sun, for which you can find gameplay footage here on the tube. Apparently Dead Sun was canned when Square Enix got spooked after the fan reaction to DMC, which is a shame, as it actually looks pretty cool.
bombkangaroo it's actually only 2 games that were canned since 'Defiance' - 'The Dark Prophecy' and 'Dead Sun'. People come up with high figures for those because of a list of '10 cancelled Lok games' that included ports and precursors (ie different versions of games that did get made).
The reaction of the Lok fan community to Dead Sun is mixed to say the best - which might tell you a lot about why it didn't see the light of the day.

I saw alot of negative feedback to Dead Sun on the video regarding the 30 minutes of play footage we got.
Honestly, I think most of the negativity came from the fact that Kain and Raziel weren't in it...and while I am sad about it (though Kain may have showed up later in the game, and Raziel has become one with the Reaver) I actually like the direction and ideas Dead Sun had. Especially the whole sharing a body with your killer part, that had some real potential!
Unfortunately I don't think anyone can pull off the Elder God the same way Tony Jay did...he had the PERFECT voice for that. (awesome and creepy at the same time!(

The reaver is a weapon forged by Vorador (while human) for Vampires as it was said to fulfill a prophecy. It was nothing but a sword at first. Then we get to know during a conversation with Janos Audron (Last ancient vampire) that the sword was forget for Raziel.
What gave the Reaver its Vampiric essence and the ability to devour souls is nothing more than Raziel's Soul inhabitting it. Raziel being the only creature in the series that actually have free will it adds to the symbolic of the sword.
Yes the sword isn't specifically a Vampire Killer sword, more of a Vampiric Sword. Nonetheless, their statement still is true, in fact, the Soul Reaver is the only weapon that can effectively destroy vampires. (Since their curse made their souls unable to go through the wheel of fate, meaning their souls still exist in the spectral realm instead of going through a reincarnation).
Through reincarnation? Rather through Elder's Maw...
