Amazing that all these vets served 20+ years in the military and now help animals

I wonder how they keep track of which elephants have already been tested. I didn't see them collar or tag this particular elephant to show he's already been tested for future reference.

But how in the heck that particular elephant got human TB?

Elephants are known to be killed by Tb so we want to know how and can we do something?

Pumpkin0330 titi so far your question hasn’t really been directly answered. Which I was going to ask the same question.

Mycobacterium bovis and Mycobacteria tuberculosis are both big causative agents of tuberculosis in elephants. M.bovis is highly transmissible between MANY species of mammals (deer, cattle, opossums, etc) M. tuberculosis causes TB in humans. Both are known to be zoonotic and the lung lesions look pretty much identical. So the elephant could have gotten it from another elephant, another animal, or a human. Habitat loss over the years has become BIG problem and has led to increased human-elephant interactions.
      Hope that helps!

How sad. A bit difficult to vaccinate wild eles. This is very worrying.

At first I read it as VETS, so I was thoroughly confused when it was followed by the words elephants and TB. 🤔🙄🤔 Then when I realized it was taking about veterinarians I felt like such a stupid asshat, lol..

This is heartbreaking. When the giants cry, it means a lot. I disliked it, not for the video but for us humans.
