  • A majority of 395 Thai lawmakers blocked Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat from his second bid for the prime minister post on Wednesday (Jul 19), a week after a failed first attempt. The decision came shortly after he was suspended as member of parliament, with the Constitutional Court proceeding with a case that may bar him from parliament altogether. CNA’s Saksith Saiyasombut and May Wong report from Bangkok.

    What has happened to Asia?
    IT IS SO SAD THAT THAILAND, MYANMA AND CAMBODIA are being dominated my the illegal government. Constitution Court in these countries are not effective. They had made any law just to protect themselves.
    I WISH FOR DEMOCRACY AND JUSTICE FOR THAI PEOPLE ❤

    Any country that has the army (military) controll over its politics tend to be very manipulative. ARM FORCES SHOULD NOT BE ANY PART OF THE POLITIC. ARM FORCES SHOULD BE UNDER THE GOVERMENT.

      250 MPs at Upper House were nominated by the military leaders who support the monarchy...since Pita wants to get rid of the monarchy, he will never get the job even though he won the lower house in the election as he needs more than half of the votes from both houses, which is impossible. Considering the current senators appointed by the pro-military government, I firmly recommend that the coalition party targets a representation of at least 390 members. This strategic maneuver will considerably enhance the prospects of successfully advancing various legislative proposals, including those that the party aims to introduce in the initial 100 days of the new government's tenure. Persisting with the current coalition size may provoke strong opposition from these senators, who will spare no effort to damage the move forward party's reputation. Hence, bolstering representation is of utmost importance in effectively countering their opposition.

    Weird for such a report as Thai casted votes for MP election, NOT the Prime Minister. He could not enough votes from MP because his insistence on reforming 112. Yet, it is true even now that Move Forward Party got a popular votes, but that was not the election for the Prime Minister! If he were back down on 112 reform, many MP vowed to cast votes for him and he shall be the Prime Minister without any vote from the Senate. BUT he did not surrender, in my view, he has abandoned people who casted votes for him to do good things like better improving living condition, providing better social welfare, raise household income, etc. Shame on him!

    • @Ziprextl
      @Ziprextl 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bullshit. Pita got 311 votes from 500 “elected” MPs. What he couldn’t get is the votes from the 250 military-appointed senators. The senators only use lese-majeste law(article 112) as a pretext to decieve those who are fool enough to believe that they really are protecting the king and as an excuse to not vote for pita.
      They will NOT vote for pita even after he vowed not to change 112 law, but if pita did that, it would truly be a betrayal to the people who voted for him as it is one of reasons why move forward party won this election
