The second worst thing about iRacing is you loosing safety rating because someone bumps into you. The game is not smart enough to recognize that. First thing is the absurd pricing.
I have to agree. I think the SR system is too punitive. For me, I can go a full race with 0 incidents and gain like .05SR but if I get a single 4x in the same length race i can lose twice as much SR easily. It's so easy to lose and so hard to gain back. Even a handful of minor off tracks can significantly derail a good SR run. I think the off tracks specifically should be updated to at least a 0x off track warning before actually going into incident points but thats probably just my take on it.

While I agree that bans should be made public for a multitude of reasons, there are also valid reasons not to do so. If you feel so strongly about it, make a post on the forum much like all the other ones arguing the same thing.

So I’ve noticed something with the iracing emails about protest. There is two different types of emails for protests. One reads just as the one you recieved. “The driver under protest has been notified of the outcome” then the other one say “ we find the driver did not cause incident intentionally, but the protest will stay in record for future incidents” something along those lines. I’m guessing the “we’ve notified the driver of the outcome” is a ban

Great attitude Oscar. Few people forget that we have more in common with all these drivers than not. We all love motorsports to some degree and have certain skillsets and conflict resolution skills to some degree as well. Well articulated.
Really great to see the progress, even the small milestones that still end in failure, each failure is a lesson, and you are definitely taking them with stride, I've never done much road racing in iRacing, I drift on AC. In the 9yrs I've been on iracing I've only done 3 protests and they all were banned I'm sure cause I got the same email you got and right after I checked the person's account and they didn't race for awhile also. Never ever be afraid to use the protest system for blatant things like what I witnessed in this video.
And how would you know they were banned? I recall at some interview employee stated that there are less than 100 people iracing has ever banned permanently for bad behavior. They do give automatically 1 week suspensions (not a ban) for intentional wrecking tho. Main issue with banning people is that iracing isn't providing the service they have sold to the customer, thus the banned customer is entitled by consumer protection laws to get their subscription and content refunded.
That clear left going up the hill after the hard tight left was huge. With the car stopped in the right, that was all so perfect, allowed you to not even think and move over.
Nice video, you learned from your mistakes… (for the most part lol) addressed what you did, which not everyone can do very easily. Also, it was a good race until… that happened. I definitely had a laugh or two!
Use the highest chattiness for spotter, and use 90 degrees for your virtual mirror. If they get outside your mirror, you get car inside/outside call pretty much spot on. Then you leave a lane.
Huge Advice: Switch the brake & clutch plate on your TLCM. Dunno why but it´s 1000 times more comfy And increases trailbraking ( imo but tbh I´m no alien myself ). Got mine at same angle as yours
@@OCRacing Yeah dunno why but got cramps only on brake leg, besides I do sports(shin). First day after switch it went better. But after another one day pause it just worked perfect. Fun part: Cramps occured 1/2 year into usage^^
There are times when people need legit protesting. But far to often grown ass men threaten to protest people for petty stuff. Unless its really bad like internationally taking out people on pourpse.
iRacing's response made perfect sense. They reviewed the incident, and they informed the driver under protest (i.e. the other guy) of the outcome. You do not need to know what that outcome is - that is between the stewards and the offender. Same thing happens in real life - if I see a taxi driver commit an offence and report them to their licensing body, that body replies to me saying they've dealt with it, without telling me what that outcome is. And that's perfectly right - I have no need to know what sanction they have imposed.
I just have always used the relative on the black box and my mirrors in iRacing. Usually don’t have much trouble running side by side with people and usually if something does happen the person is pretty level headed about it all. My experience with the sim has always been positive and I’m sorry you had that negative experience even though it didn’t bother you at the time. Maybe I’ll meet you on track sometime. So in this case, the clause "The member under protest notified" has a subject, "The member", but has no verb so you infer the verb from the independent clause. The verb was "has been" So the meaning is "The member under protest has been notified of the outcome." It's pretty common when a sentence has repetitious parts, and you're probably used to it in shorter sentences. "I like biking more than running" Really means "I like biking more than I like running". It's less noticeable in smaller sentences. Hope that makes sense. If not google elliptical clause and you will find more.
Iracing needs to inform both party's of their decision. I have had at least 5 occasions where I was absolutely cleaned out and hunted down once. I have never filed one but I 100% am going to the next time I am used up.
There are 3 main corners that will caught me off guard mostly in RA: the turn right at the end of the highspeed way (OOF), left turn after uphill and the highspeed right turn (which u ended up outside the track). Still hats off to ur performance bud
YSK you can do pretty much everything racelabs does with simhub overlays for free, it just costs you time and effort making them yourself but you get to add extra customization and stuff. Also when crew chief says "that's the fastest lap of the race", he means that's your fastest lap, not overall.
Yo m8. This video has a high production value. This is very well edited, my compliments. As far as racing. I started last december and got plenty to learn. I quickly found out that a mistakes is soooo easily done. And where it might be very stupid to experienced drivers, when being all new to this it is done in a millisecond and you took people out. Never intended as you want to race safe and score some points as well. In the meanwhile 2023 season 1 is over and became 4 of my division, due to a lot of practice and Time Trails I’m now also Class A with almost 3 sr. In terms of race craft and battling with others next to you it is getting better as well. This doesn’t mean I sometimes make stupid mistakes and honestly I tend not to do them but the sim is unforgiving. Being fast is something I gotta learn a lot still though, sometimes 2 seconds (depending on the track) I’m off the pace. Also noticed there is sometimes not much to split and me being (dropped from 1750) a 1450 ir currently, I find myself in a mix of 4K+ drivers. There is nothing to battle with to be honest. Most important of the whole sim racing is we develop, learn and most of all have fun. As some people suggested, this cost a lot of money indeed, to report all the time…. Well, of course there are always jerks around but don’t get bitter. Life is here to enjoy it. Iracing never tells you, if you get a member notified of outcome it means your protest was successful, otherwise you get an email saying why it wasn't successful.
I did this to someone once by complete accident. due to me only having one monitor so I couldn't see the guy and my Crew chief not working. I felt terrible and was super paranoid about getting banned

Homemade wood chassis and dirt track race car seat with projector for a screen and a DFP wheel. Glorious times! Still have the wheel lol. Just before the release a lot of the beta testers had issue with the pricing structure and the "rules" of the racing. The devs as great as they were during testing didn't listen at all. It caused a lot of bitter feels back then. It still does I see. The sim community has always been pretty elitist. Man babies crying and yelling over everything.

Thanks! Though I’m not planning on making them longer as they already take years to edit 😂 I like the T818. However, the only reason I’m using it is because the SF1000 is the only wheel I have with a digital screen and I use it because it looks cool on camera. So, the T818 is my only option if I want to use that rim. I hope that makes sense lol!

Keep in mind when chief says that’s the fastest lap of the race he’s only referring to your time. That was your fastest time not the time of the field.
I like to think of the protests not only as you being angry that someone did something, but it's also "this person could mess up other people's races, I should protest them for what they did to me".

First incident the guy deserves a ban. The taps you had on passing happens but that’s racing, you didn’t maliciously take anyone out. The mistake at the end unfortunately happens from time to time however if you notice the car in front braking my advice would be to play the long game - iRacing is about being clean and careful. Slow and steady wins the race for sure, doesn’t help you are doing the 15 min sprint races as it can be manic, once your a higher level you’ll enjoy the longer races and everyone is on the same page rather than coming over from Forza/GT Sport and thinking they are the next Max Verstappen !
you dont need crew chief, usually tells you information you dont need, IRacingn spotter is more than enough. make sure your rear view mirror FOV is set correctly. and please please start shifting at 7700rpms lol. You are leaving so much time on the track when you shift before 7700 rpms in each gear
This was very entertaining and the editing was pretty good. I still dont like the shake effect but that is just down to personal taste by now. Using it only briefly is tolerable.
@@OCRacing Having a fixed point to focus on in the picture somewhat helps but the fact that it makes me dizzy remains. Having it in only short bursts is like I said tolerable but personally I dont see any benefit from it being used at all. I know that the purpose is viewer retention. From my perspective it is hard to understand how it helps with that. I know the theory but feel the downsides outweigh the benefits. That being said I dont know your analytics wich might reveal a significant increase in viewer retention when the effect is used. I doubt that though since your channel is the first where I came across any such effect. If it were so effective I would expect more people to use it.
same as real life you are not allowed to try overtake, quali sorts out the order of the race that is where you must stay till the end so no one complains haha
Thanks for helping make sure I don't buy Iracing. Its hard to understand how ANY gamer is OK with a game being harder on someone playing a sport in a video game then they would someone racing in real life. Sure, dirty driving sucks, but racers get fined and maybe suspended for like 1 to 3 races at worst. It's like Gamers and Game Creators have this extreme superiority complex where they want to hold random people online to a HIGHER standard then multimillionaire athletes and thats frankly just disgusting.
I know this is an old video, but they will tell you if they think it was just a racing incident. Member notified means they agreed with you. Always report because racing incidents can also form the basis of repeat conduct that is unacceptable

In a situation like that always stay behind and wait for them to fight it out and take advantage when they do make a mistake by battling it out

I like the T818. However, the only reason I’m using it is because the SF1000 is the only wheel I have with a digital screen and I use it because it looks cool on camera. So, the T818 is my only option if I want to use that rim.

Keep in mind when chief says that’s the fastest lap of the race he’s only referring to your time. That was your fastest time not the time of the field.

First incident the guy deserves a ban. The taps you had on passing happens but that’s racing, you didn’t maliciously take anyone out. The mistake at the end unfortunately happens from time to time however if you notice the car in front braking my advice would be to play the long game - iRacing is about being clean and careful. Slow and steady wins the race for sure, doesn’t help you are doing the 15 min sprint races as it can be manic, once your a higher level you’ll enjoy the longer races and everyone is on the same page rather than coming over from Forza/GT Sport and thinking they are the next Max Verstappen !

you dont need crew chief, usually tells you information you dont need, IRacingn spotter is more than enough. make sure your rear view mirror FOV is set correctly. and please please start shifting at 7700rpms lol. You are leaving so much time on the track when you shift before 7700 rpms in each gear
This was very entertaining and the editing was pretty good. I still dont like the shake effect but that is just down to personal taste by now. Using it only briefly is tolerable.

@@OCRacing Having a fixed point to focus on in the picture somewhat helps but the fact that it makes me dizzy remains. Having it in only short bursts is like I said tolerable but personally I dont see any benefit from it being used at all. I know that the purpose is viewer retention. From my perspective it is hard to understand how it helps with that. I know the theory but feel the downsides outweigh the benefits. That being said I dont know your analytics wich might reveal a significant increase in viewer retention when the effect is used. I doubt that though since your channel is the first where I came across any such effect. If it were so effective I would expect more people to use it.

Thanks for helping make sure I don't buy Iracing. Its hard to understand how ANY gamer is OK with a game being harder on someone playing a sport in a video game then they would someone racing in real life. Sure, dirty driving sucks, but racers get fined and maybe suspended for like 1 to 3 races at worst. It's like Gamers and Game Creators have this extreme superiority complex where they want to hold random people online to a HIGHER standard then multimillionaire athletes and thats frankly just disgusting.
