    you can buy a cheap $15 bracket that fits on the seat bracket/rod allowing it to open fully
    the switchgear are same as my honda ntv 650... simple quality..
    i like this and also the kawasaki j300 .. but .. i am worried about foot position i will try before i buy...
    i have a 200 burgman..90+mpg but... id like it a bit more low down power when i take passenger its just too sluggish but great solo..
    i think 300cc is THE perfect size.. good performance , good gas mileage, still light...
    the 400 scooters are too heavy and you dont really need to go much past 70mph on small 14" wheels... scooters are scooters .. they handle odd...but thats because they are what they are ..people compare them to sportbikes thats just not fair.. .. .. .. oil change every 3000miles it will last forever..they only hold about 1.2 litres just change it regular... nice review

      I read about the engine cutting out. Other posters wrote that replacing the fuel lines was the cure. The OEM fuel lines are supposedly cheap and break off, which causes the jets in the carb to clog up.

    All these scooters with stepped seats seem to have been designed to fit 5 foot tall people. I was interested in the Kymco X-Town until I sat on one at the dealership and felt like I was jammed up against the handlebars and couldn't move back to be comfortable. I would never be carrying a passenger so the rear section of the seat is useless to me. The Yamaha S-Max was the same way. The Yamaha salesman told me that wasn't a problem, I could just take it somewhere and pay a few hundred dollars to have the seat altered. I told him that when I spend $3800 for a 150cc scooter, having to spend hundreds more to be able to ride it is a serious problem. Will Asian scooter makers ever build scooters that big people can ride comfortably? I'm getting the impression that Kymco is losing interest in competing in the North American market anyway.

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, the downtown has more room for the passenger... yamaha Xmax is an exception. It’s seat is fairly flat so you can move back pretty far.

      Have you bought a scooter and if so what make and model? I'm still on the fence. I like the X-Town 300i, Burgman 200, Burgman 400 and the Yamaha XMax. Just can't decide which one is right for us. PLEASE HELP.

      @@genegoodwin8925 I finally bought a Kymco Like 150 about 2 years ago. I have 6000 miles on it now and I like it a lot. I really wanted something bigger but I just don't like any of these stretched out, feet forward, lean backwards, stepped seat modern scooters. The only traditional looking scooter with a flat seat and an upright riding position that has more power would be the Vespa 300, which is nice, but if I'm going to spend $8000 on a 2 wheeler I'll just buy a motorcycle with 3 times the power and bigger wheels. I've been shifting gears on motorcycles for almost 60 years now and I can just keep on doing it. I paid $2900 for my Kymco and it's fine as long as I stay off high speed highways. If the Kymco X-Town 300 fits you, I think it's a good buy. My Kymco has been 100% trouble free so far and everything works good. The Burgman 400 is ridiculously over-priced now.

    I have a Kymko 150i Like. I agree with your observations 100%. Servicing is easy but parts you have to order. I have a dealer about 150 miles away. Too far to go to dealer. So I do most of the maintenance myself and it is not too hard to do. I like that mine is air-cooled so I have less to maintain. Check out the new 3 wheeler Kymco is bringing for 2024 with the AK 550 engine. What are you riding now!

    This is October 1, 2023 and the downtown 300i is no longer available in the U.S. So I am looking at a 2022 Kymco X-Town 300i. I love the styling of a Kymco better than the Suzuki Burgman and Yamaha Xmax. My wife always rides with me, even though she is a small woman I like the large passenger seat because I want her to be comfortable.
    I found a 2022 X-Town 300i with only 1600 miles for $4000 which I think is a good deal. My main concern is I watched a you tube video that stated the X-Town 300i has a lot of vibrations at 60 mph and above. We ride a lot on devided highways in Ohio where the speed limit is 70 mph. I usually run at 65mph so nobody runs over us.
    With your experience witht he Downtown 300 I(I know it has a larger 4 valve engine) how is the Downtown 300 I at 60 to 65 mph? Have you ever rode a X-Town 300 i and if so, what did you think of it?

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve never ridden the XTown, the downtown is fine at 70-75 even 80, no major vibrations. At 80 it runs out of power but as for stability, it’s fine.
      I also have a Xmax and it feels a bit better but I think that’s because I prefer the general seating position on the Xmax. Downtown feels a bit cramped for my liking.
      4000 is an ok deal. You can probably get it for less as in the US not many people know about Kymco so those selling generally don’t get many offers so I’m sure you can get that one for 3500 if not less as they’ll have a hard time selling it.
      Best of luck!

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So, the best place I have found is a scooter shop in taiwan. They have OEM parts for Kymco scooters and their prices are great. They are called TBS Scooter Shop (taiwan big scooter shop) you jsut email them the part numbers and they will let you know how much the parts are and the shipping. Compared to dealer's prices, their prices are about 3-4 times less. They are trully great. Check out their website. Only thing is, since parts they sort are from taiwan, it akes about a month or so for them to arrive. You can also get them thru any Kymco dealer but they will be so over priced.

    • @humannature3916
      @humannature3916 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nemanjatosovic Thank you for that information. I have been researching for 3 days straight for any US based information. True that Kymco is so unestablished in the US. I am choosing between the downtown (a 2016 which I have found for $2.5k locally w/3000 miles) and a 2017 BMW c650 Sport ($3k with 2k miles). There is also a dealer selling an xtown with 900 miles for $2.5k but I am willing to trade a little more ponies and 4 valves without the ABS for the downtown. I have also looked at a 2013 B650 for $3,750.These are all within my price range and it is just really hard to choose.

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@humannature3916 I was half sleep when I replied to you haha. So, i personally have not ridden the c650 but have a DT300i and have ridden the xtown.
      I find the xtown a bit comfier and better looking but the downtown has a better engine in my opinion and more power too.
      The c650 is an absolute steal at 3 grand however it might be expensive to maintain and being a bmw it might not be super reliable. As for Kymco, I had nothing but positive experiences..
      Tough choice, if you have the ability and the knowledge to
      Maintain the scooter properly, the c650 seems like a no brainer at that price.

    • @humannature3916
      @humannature3916 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The BMW is actually made by Kymco and it requires a $1200 service at 12k miles but really bang for the buck.
      Is the power in the xtown noticeable? I would really love a downtown with ABS and that is what concerns me the most is that it does not have any abs. Highway speeds in my area are around 75 cruising speed.
