    Just finished my glass door install. Your video answer a couple of questions I had but could find the answers anywhere. You answered them for me with your easy to understand instructions. I can’t thank you enough. Ric

    Good job!!Coming back a day later to address the silicone again is sort of counterproductive. One of the old guys in the field taught me how to tool silicone correctly. After running your silicone for the perimeter gaps, spray either an aerosol glass cleaner, or a mixture of dawn dishsoap and water, over the silicone you just ran. This allows you to tool it without making a mess everywhere. If you happen to smear some on the glass, it will wipe right off.
    I do shower doors for a living and have seen some neat tricks

    You should make a video on getting the wood walls level and the corners plumb. Nice job!

      Good idea! That is important and good thing to do, especially if your installing an enclosure like this

    Great video thanks. I’ve been watching your videos as I am also doing a shower similar to but using a pre made what I thought was standard 48x32 acrylic/fiberglass (2) threshold base with 2 1/2” wide threshold and can’t find a premade enclosure to fit base

    Nice video, so is there nothing which holds the corner where the two glass panels meet other than silicone? Just wondering whether that would come apart if someone were to slip, or lean on that front panel when taking a shower.

    • @BathroomRemodelingTeacher
      @BathroomRemodelingTeacher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just silicon. You can buy a top clamp if your overly concerned about that. It would take some tremendous force to knock them apart 👍 amzn.to/3HR5cjH

    Have you done a glass to glass mount for the door?

    • @BathroomRemodelingTeacher
      @BathroomRemodelingTeacher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Been a long time, but yes. Not too much different than. A wall mount hinge. Just make sure fixed panel is set before hanging door. Clamps on fixed panel allow you to finish in a day, otherwise silicone needs to dry before hanging door

    • @BathroomRemodelingTeacher
      @BathroomRemodelingTeacher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s really no benefit for the added expense in my opinion. A commercial storefront….yea 1/2”. More durable. But for a shower, pretty much looks the same 👍

    #1 we use 1/4 inch green anchors for the screws every time, #2 Comming back next day just for caulk is counter productive finish the job same day, spray some alcohol and tool with a rubber block job done, great video tho !

    are the hinges drilled in to stud? What are my options if the hinge is between studs?

    • @BathroomRemodelingTeacher
      @BathroomRemodelingTeacher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I always add blocking (2 x 6) behind the area of door to anchor. You can use wall anchor plugs if you don’t have anything. That will work with having tile. 👍

    The CR Laurence silicone I get directly from them in their store here in Houston, about $10-12 a tube..$60 for it is ridiculous!
    From what it know they only have a store here in Houston, and in LA..I could be wrong though.

    I haven't installed a glass enclosure yet but a current customer is wanting one. Is this something you order once all tile is laid or is this factored in prior? I just see where your U channel is laid, so I don't want to be skipping any steps that will come to bite me.

    • @remodelfrontier9884

      Try my course. If it’s not helpful I’ll refund money no questions asked. But yes I recommend ordering after tile is set, especially for a curbless shower bathroomremodeling.teachable.com/p/custom-glass-enclosure-installation

    These comments on the silicone I assume don’t know the difference between regular and “ water clear”? Or am I missing something. I see CRL for $12 but not the water clear. Not an ex just researching for my own I am about to install. If the difference in milky clear vs “ clear. Well I get the difference. So please chime in with valuable information. Thanks

    Filing the Chanel with silicone is too much work and messy all around just put the glass in the Chanel and run a bead of silicone on the edges of the Chanel and glass and it’ll look much more cleaner and professional

  • @josuemoreno827
    @josuemoreno827 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Coming back after 24hrs to cut the silicone out is more work like I said before, a lot of this could be prevented and running your finger across the bead of silicone where glass meets is just messy, kind of unprofessional man
