With your gauge pod, where would the wiper switch mount? I have the style with the light switch and wiper switch stacked. Also where are you getting your power sources from? Can I connect the factory dimmer/headlight switch to control the brightness of the DDG?
With our housing, the wiper switch and headlight switch holes both have to be cut, we are doing some retooling on that part to make that process easier. Also, the factory dimming should also dim the Dakota unit, I don't remember it having a separate dimmer. As far as the power source, the constant came from the factory clock and the 12v switched came from the black/pink wire in the harness.
No, when the unit is initially wired you hook up the rpm input from your source and the Dakota system comes with a speed sensor. The obd2 add-on is nice for LS swapped cars and it allows you to skip wiring everything in as all the information comes from the obd port .

My fuel gauge never rises to more than 1/4 tank. So I was looking to swap them for a set of round Speedhuts I have. I was looking at the DM00546 gauge pod. And the faceplate DM00506. My question is are those parts compatible? By that I mean, does that faceplate work with that gauge pod? I'd hate to buy parts that won't work with each other. Yes, those two will work together but that causes your wiper switch to not fit in the factory location anymore and would need to be converted to an 82+ set up on the column or relocate it somewhere else in the faceplate. Did you use the 12v constant wire from the harness or did you run a inline fuse from the fuse box?
My backlights for the guages aren't working, but my led is. What wire am I missing and where does it go?
The grey wire in the bulkhead connector is for illumination, where is your grey wire plugged into in the Dakota box?

It would, do you have the sweep-style speedometer or the round gauges? You would need to mount the wiper switch but it can be done.

What color is the check engine wire ?
I don't know what year you have, so this may be incorrect, but usually, it was a yellow wire in the connector.
What wire did you use for speed sensor?
Dakota sends their own harness for the speed sensor, I believe the wires are black, white, and blue.

When you order a Dakota Digital set up they send you 2 small switches that you wire into those positions.

This specific unit will not work for a regal but the assembly and the steps to install it are very similar.
