I'm playing for the first time, I was intending to save both the Geth and the Quarrians, but I was confused about which dialogue option would lead to this, so I got Tali's suicide. I reloaded my save to pick the right one, but I'm scarred for life now.

Or really opening up in any way, in fact during the final stage on rannoch, he tries to entice us to choose the geth by saying that their fleet is bigger than the Quarians' and would be more useful, at least I've never seen a video where peace was achieved with either Tali or Legion being dead or never recruited
Not necessarily. If you turn over the evidence at her trial, you save her from exile but she isn’t loyal. It is still possible to ensure her survival in the Suicide Mission. In this instance , the Legion vs Tali confrontation never occurs. So you don’t get to make peace between the Quarians and Geth. Or alternatively, if you suppress the evidence and get her exiled, she is loyal to you and you can resolve the conflict between her and Legion, albeit by supporting someone first, then cajoling the other one later. But in that case, Quarian Geth peace is not possible because Tali isn’t an “admiral”. So, in this scenario, you have to pick one side, and IMHO the Geth come off as more sympathetic.
God the VA for Tali fulfilled her role to a point I have yet to see recreated in any other game. Her sobbing at the destruction of the Quarrian Fleet and her flinging herself off the cliffs of Rannoch brought several tears to my eyes and it was at that point I realized....I fucked up MAJORLY, so I did the only logical thing, restart the damn mission
My first ME3 playthrough was a damn near Perfect paragon run of the Trilogy, so I easily got the peace between Quarians and Geth. My Renegade run wasn't as perfect, so when I tried to get the peace, only to see Tali throwing herself off the cliff, I yeeted myself back to the start of the mission ASAP.
@@arsonne I didn't side with the Geth over the Quarians. I was shooting for the Quarian and Geth alliance and missed something. I immediately went back and destroyed the Geth after realizing I didn't achieve the alliance

@@warden-gg7263 yeah, in my first few runs on DA: Origins I missed out on every Chara. in Lothering. you have to really look for them. and the first game requires a guide definitely (at least for the mage tower, that shit is complicated). the next games were not as requiring but they still needed a guide for some thing (e.g. romance)
@@ReverieKoyuki it made no sense whatsoever for Tali to be the one you HAVE to take with you. Woulda made WAY more sense for Garrus to be the mandatory one, shoulda just had an option to simply pay Tali for the information and send her on her way

Tali is the only companion from ME1 who did barely anything of note in the 2 years Shepard was dead, Ashley/Kaidan got promoted, Garrus turned into turian Punisher, Wrex became Urdnaught warchief and it makes no sense for Tali to become Admiral in ME3 other than it being nothing more than a pity promotion. she couldnt keep control of Prazza on Freedoms Progress and yet the quarians had the bright idea to have her lead the mission on her recruitment mission and surprise surprise she fails. The quarians in general are morons and yes that includes Tali, she a quarian and all somebody would have to do is punch her in the faceplate to kill her, if Tali was actually smart she'd use a rifle to stay away from close range
Appreciate the research you do. I've always been curious about outcomes like these, digging to see what kind of odd scenarios can be caused and seeing how much work the devs may have put in to account for players being weird, but I just don't want to dump in the hundreds of hours to do stuff like this. With the legendary edition I’ve been playing the DLCs for the first time and nearly left Zaeed after his loyalty mission. If there wouldn’t have been the paragon speech check, I would’ve absolutely left him for dead haha
I'm one of the few people that played ME3 without playing me2 and the default save didn't give me option to save both, but I knew that it was an option from memes online, so I let the geth upload the code thinking that was the solution. RIP my original quarians.
In Dragon Age Origins for example, I missed Leliana because I didn't go to the house she was in. I also killed the older healer party character (Wynne?). It was a blind run that I always do every 1st playthrough so I can see this happening to others.
And also an entire species, I mean you can build new robots but organic species? Ooooh you basically commit a genocide if you let the Quarians die. In a twisted way, Tali’s suicide does represent extinction.

Funny story: I was playing the mission where you have to choose between the Geth and the Quarians and I chose the Geth by accident. I went into a whole panic attack when Tali killed herself and immediately turned off the game so that it wouldn't autosave. I had never cared that much about a character death in a game before in my life, LOL

That was my first run on console too way back when the game had just come out. It was a FemShep run, I didn't have enough to broker peace because it was my first time, the games were all new, and I was actively avoiding spoilers. I tried in vain to go back to an earlier save to pick the Quarians, but I had none. Needless to say in all subsequent trilogy playthroughs and on the PC LE I make sure to do everything needed to broker peace. That or pick the Quarians if I can't.
When i play for first time ME1, and in the begining i saw my members squad shadows, I always knews that Tali's shadow would have a very important role in the development of the game.
I can't even imagine how empty it must have been to not have Tali there. She and Garrus are the real ones and have stuck with Shepard from the beginning to the end.

I always choose destroy too (the fallacy of control ending & the synthesis ending which is galactic genetic "struggle snuggle" is stupid) and it really shows the plot holes of the ending. You can definitely tell they lost their best writers by then.

Being without Tali Vas Normandy, is like being without the palm of your hand as a Young Teenager. I never ever skipped Tali in one of over 20 playthroughs of Mass Effect 2.
I always felt the Quarians were stubbornly insistent in their determined purstuit of willful ignorance. Their tone-deaf hatred of the Geth they created, uplifted to sentience, and in an apoplectic "oh 💩" move tried to annihilate the Geth in fear of Council retrobution. Never once, other than via Admiral Khoris, do the Quarians accept or admit their role in being exiled from their own planet. I never pitied thr Quarians, and found it hard to grow close to Tali because of her "woe is us, we the exiled" routine. She can't see how her people are 100% responsible for their situation, the Geth's anger, and the loss of their own homeworld. After entering the Geth Consensus with the Primes on Rannoch, I felt even less pity for the Quarians, because they never changed one bit!! Rael and Xen were doing to the Geth the exact same thing their ancestors did! Torture, cruelty, sadistic experiments on sentient beings. It's hard to care about the Quarians in hindsight.
Plus, Tali gets dramatic music as she jumps. Her replacement just pops her noggin and Shepard just shrugs it off (I mean, damn, Shepard! An entire race got wiped out, not even a single "NO!" or "DON'T!"? Cold blooded.)

I still remember my first playthrough of ME3, i had romanced tali... i couldn't broker a peace between the Geth and Quarians. I agreed more with the Geths logic and i thought they would be more useful against the reapers. Tali commiting suicide stopped me from finishing that playthrough. A couple of weeks later i started a completely new playthrough from a "better" ME2 save file.
Similar situation over here. 1st playthrough, Tali romance. Legion being the 3rd fav after Garrus. Couldn't save both. My first reaction was to just quit and reload an earlier save. I my have a chance to change it, but Shep doesn't... one life, one choice. After being a Prince of Persia ultrafan for the better part of my life, that would be cheating and going against my principles. Though what principles am I to speak about if unlike you, I picked the girl over a species. How selfish... how human, but I just couldn't hurt her. Only time a game ever made me cry. I carried that weight till the end. Synthesis ending there. Had a rough script of a fanfiction with Shep surviving and assembling himself over 2 years Dr. Manhattan style, just green, coming out the Citadel mini-relay. After a crying tight hug Tali would have some cheeky lines to "do not even think about dying on me and coming back for a third time." Garrus and Shep would give Archangels's loyalty mission a mirror with Shep holding Legion's sniper rifle and admiral Han'Gerrel being in the sights. Also 2nd playthrough renegade save both was priceless.
*Legion asks Shepard when Legion learned that Tali was not recruited:* "Shepard Commander! Does this unit have a soul?... Better yet...Do YOU have a soul?"
Also have you ever tried to fight those three geth primes in mass effect 3 on insanity? Unless you're an infiltrator, or have Tali in your party, that fight is damn near impossible.
I cannot see myself doing a Mass Effect playthrough without Tali, she was like one of the best companions to have when you had to fight against mechs or the Geth. Also she was part of the original team so I would always recruit her... But if I were to do a playthrough without Tali though, I think I would sacrifice the Quarians to be honest.
Anyone notice the death of the squad mate due to no shield upgrade us venting of thermal heat into the core room that Adam's asks you to help fix in me3, Cerberus and their lack of saftey regulations.
I have not done the comment yet but I expect to see a lot of Tali fans said that this choice sends you in the deeper circle of hell. :D Also, your video gives me the desire to start another run of Mass Effect despite the fact that last time (5e run), I said it would be the last. :( I suppose I will wait to see what this legendary edition worth. Raan's suicide scene is so fucking anticlimactic lmao No radio chatter, no music, no emotional breakdown also, you could still have all the ME3 outcomes if you have Tali die in the Collector Base, as if you never recruit her. This can be done by simply never doing her loyalty quest, then playing the rest of the game as normal.
Another consequence is also the confirmed absence of your soul.

*restart the whole game*
Critical mission failure
More like uninstall the game and rethink your life choices
And if you fail the Rannoch mission you restart from the last save before the entire priority mission.
I will not recruit Tali just to piss off the hardcore fans

I replayed all of ME2 just to make sure she lived after I messed up and didn't have the requirements to have peace

@@stormy035 indeed, that’s what I usually do. While I think the Geth are acceptable causality but usually yeah truce is the best ending.

Funny story: I was playing the mission where you have to choose between the Geth and the Quarians and I chose the Geth by accident. I went into a whole panic attack when Tali killed herself and immediately turned off the game so that it wouldn't autosave. I had never cared that much about a character death in a game before in my life, LOL

That was my first run on console too way back when the game had just come out. It was a FemShep run, I didn't have enough to broker peace because it was my first time, the games were all new, and I was actively avoiding spoilers. I tried in vain to go back to an earlier save to pick the Quarians, but I had none. Needless to say in all subsequent trilogy playthroughs and on the PC LE I make sure to do everything needed to broker peace. That or pick the Quarians if I can't.
When i play for first time ME1, and in the begining i saw my members squad shadows, I always knews that Tali's shadow would have a very important role in the development of the game.

I always choose destroy too (the fallacy of control ending & the synthesis ending which is galactic genetic "struggle snuggle" is stupid) and it really shows the plot holes of the ending. You can definitely tell they lost their best writers by then.
@@sarasunshinemt4444 I am convinced that the Indoctrination theory was correct and that they were planning episodic DLC, but dropped it when the shit hit the fan over the ending. 🤷♂️ pick the happy clappy ending you become a husk, pick destroy, you resist the indoctrination and actually manage to get in and activate the crucible.

Being without Tali Vas Normandy, is like being without the palm of your hand as a Young Teenager. I never ever skipped Tali in one of over 20 playthroughs of Mass Effect 2.
I always felt the Quarians were stubbornly insistent in their determined purstuit of willful ignorance. Their tone-deaf hatred of the Geth they created, uplifted to sentience, and in an apoplectic "oh 💩" move tried to annihilate the Geth in fear of Council retrobution. Never once, other than via Admiral Khoris, do the Quarians accept or admit their role in being exiled from their own planet. I never pitied thr Quarians, and found it hard to grow close to Tali because of her "woe is us, we the exiled" routine. She can't see how her people are 100% responsible for their situation, the Geth's anger, and the loss of their own homeworld. After entering the Geth Consensus with the Primes on Rannoch, I felt even less pity for the Quarians, because they never changed one bit!! Rael and Xen were doing to the Geth the exact same thing their ancestors did! Torture, cruelty, sadistic experiments on sentient beings. It's hard to care about the Quarians in hindsight.
Anyone that has Tali killed is punishable by death around the universe.
Plus, Tali gets dramatic music as she jumps. Her replacement just pops her noggin and Shepard just shrugs it off (I mean, damn, Shepard! An entire race got wiped out, not even a single "NO!" or "DON'T!"? Cold blooded.)

I still remember my first playthrough of ME3, i had romanced tali... i couldn't broker a peace between the Geth and Quarians. I agreed more with the Geths logic and i thought they would be more useful against the reapers. Tali commiting suicide stopped me from finishing that playthrough. A couple of weeks later i started a completely new playthrough from a "better" ME2 save file.
Similar situation over here. 1st playthrough, Tali romance. Legion being the 3rd fav after Garrus. Couldn't save both.
My first reaction was to just quit and reload an earlier save. I my have a chance to change it, but Shep doesn't... one life, one choice. After being a Prince of Persia ultrafan for the better part of my life, that would be cheating and going against my principles. Though what principles am I to speak about if unlike you, I picked the girl over a species. How selfish... how human, but I just couldn't hurt her. Only time a game ever made me cry. I carried that weight till the end.

Had a rough script of a fanfiction with Shep surviving and assembling himself over 2 years Dr. Manhattan style, just green, coming out the Citadel mini-relay. After a crying tight hug Tali would have some cheeky lines to "do not even think about dying on me and coming back for a third time." Garrus and Shep would give Archangels's loyalty mission a mirror with Shep holding Legion's sniper rifle and admiral Han'Gerrel being in the sights.
Also 2nd playthrough renegade save both was priceless.

Also have you ever tried to fight those three geth primes in mass effect 3 on insanity? Unless you're an infiltrator, or have Tali in your party, that fight is damn near impossible.
I did it on insanity with a vanguard, extra difficulty mod that added an extra prime and Tali and liara, not too bad but vanguard is pretty op.
@@duitk Tali is OP against Geth with her AI hacking + that lazer focus fire while they are hacked. Vanguard is pretty much irrelevant.

I cannot see myself doing a Mass Effect playthrough without Tali, she was like one of the best companions to have when you had to fight against mechs or the Geth. Also she was part of the original team so I would always recruit her... But if I were to do a playthrough without Tali though, I think I would sacrifice the Quarians to be honest.

also, you could still have all the ME3 outcomes if you have Tali die in the Collector Base, as if you never recruit her. This can be done by simply never doing her loyalty quest, then playing the rest of the game as normal.
