I remember watching these videos when they were coming out and being super excited for this album and it far exceeded my expectations. DITC is the best HOF album. Jack Endino's production was incredible. They should have worked together again but o well. I saw them live later that year in October. Seeing a lot of songs off this album played live was amazing. This album was still rabid as fuck it has a perfect balance of that and the more Iommic sounding grooves and tripyness at times. It's cool they made these videos because this was HOF's masterpiece imo.
DVM is on par with DITC, I would argue it's a better album but its so hard to rank HOF albums, its a matter of personal preference more than anything they're all bangers.
Yes i totally agree.As a bassist myself i fully appreciate what Jeff Matz means to High on Fire. You gotta be one bad ass bassist to play in a good 3 piece band like High on Fire.I like to think my style of bass playing is similar to Jeff Matz which is nothing to frown at, but then i hit the snooze button on my alarm clock & awake to find that i'm dreaming that i'm anywhere close to as good as Jeff Matz though lol.
That mcnaught was on ebay 10 years ago. So great to see the force in young Jeff, even though I always missed George and Joe. Joe is Rick Rubin's stunt double now, and I heard Al ate George...
@adamfunk1234 I'm pretty sure his bass is a First Act. I always thought of First Acts as the dinky guitars sold at Wal-Mart, but apparently they make some very quality instruments as well.

chris duartes a psycodelic jazz blues guitarest, who knows every note on his guitar, and that man has some mean ass soul! just by watching him youd think hes possessed, i dont think pike could touch duarte... look up chris duarte the song dumb as paint, hes really trippy!

@SRV32566 man for stevie ray vaughan afficianado I would expect a better appreciation for music in itself, don't get me wrong I appreciate the blues, but in essence metal and rock guitarist are just blues guitarist but heavier, besides what do you know of Matt Pike, how do you know he cant play like duarte? you must know him pretty well, in anycase whatever guitar he plays has no difference to his skill, he plays a gibson les paul, you gonna call les paul players shit too? I didnt think so
