- Orange's technical director Ade sat down with Matt from Sleep to chat amp design and favourite gear in this interview captured backstage before Sleep's headline set at Desertfest 2017.
Quintessential British man and quintessential American man. Love these two, they should have a podcast, haha.
I've had the privilege of a long chat with Ade after he was at a show I was playing and he's such a lovely, genuinely enthusiastic dude, who loves his craft.
Also gave me one of the best compliments I ever got about my tone:
'Mate, that is exactly what I made that amp to do. Loud, heavy, full of richness, and you nailed it'

Dude, yes! I have an Epiphone Les Paul and a crush 35 RT. Such a killer simple set up for home, and would be absolutely fantastic for smaller gigs. I don’t know if you have any pedals, but if you do that clean channel takes pedals really well. And if you need to run it dirty, you’ve got the effects loop in the back to clean up your delays and reverbs. Orange is out here making wicked fucking amps at all price points and for all situations. Keep it heavy and keep it cosmic. 🤘🏻🛸🤘🏻 also, I really hope your name as a reference to the trailer Park boys.

Matt is correct.. Earthquaker has the goods... I use the Cloven Hoof and the Ghost Echo almost exclusively. Every now and then, the Boneshaker by DOD and Black Arts Toneworks. Once I ran the Boneshaker through the Cloven Hoof. I saw Valhalla.
This somehow feels like the smoking area of every Stoner gig I've been to, because me & my friends sound waay too much like this 😆🤣

I absolutely love Ade. He always comes across to me as a bloke I could totally kick back and have a pint with. Discuss the origins of punk rock. I would say Ramones, he would say Sex Pistols, we'd have it out over a cigarette in an alley, and then walk back in the pub and end up best mates. Ha!
Ade is absolutely brilliant. He's humbly cut from the jib of legends in my book.
When a legit player engineers an amp? You hear the labor of love whilst dialing it in. Ade gets it!

The OR circuit is the best one ever wired. Nothing is as sponge-y and player reactive. The OR feels the player, no other amp does. I came across an OR15 and purchased it on a whim, within hours I had ordered an OR100. The rest of my amps are now covered in dust.

I'm sure he knows that AlNiCo is a type of magnet. He's probably just surprised because AlNiCos aren't a commonly used magnet for speakers.

AdrianVino 50 tube watts is more than enough, trust me. You could drown out your drummer easily if you wanted to. Plus most venues mic your setup and send it to the foh system. You'll love it
