Everyone here who watches these videos is interested in fishing so that involves hooking a live fish through the mouth at some point. All Graeme and Mike are doing is the same thing but with a slightly different technique. So please guys don't try and take the moral high ground. If you don't like the methods used take up another hobby like model train sets or something. Also the TA lads are not breaking any laws or rules. Its an old fashioned way of fishing and my personal favorite. Well done lads another great video and I hope to see many more. Catch ya later
Ray Westwood Ray you could say the same about using worms or maggots they don't ask to be put on a hook, you put them on there. So unless you tell me that you have never used worms or maggots as bait, your argument is invalid.
@Daniel Sky blue 87 it’s not a question if watching it or not it’s a question of cruelty....I’m an angler and fish lover but this is cruel pure and simple.
We use live bait for all sorts of fish here in the US. Bass pike Muskie walleye perch crappie. All of our fish in some way or another prey on other fish. I have a bucket set up like that that sits into a section of my boats live well so the circulation air pump for the live well also keeps the bait in top condition.
Huntnfishnuts I use artificial lures for bass, walleye, for trout, catfish, carp i use live or dead bait, I do want to expand my fly fishing skills but it's hard with the local trout fisheries, just caught a bass tonight winding my worm in on a catfish rod
i caught my first pike trolling this last month actually around memorial day. i used a spinner and put a chub on the spinner hooked three the mouth. and caught my limit on day 1
Love your pike fishing videos ..I grew up pike fishing and large mouth bass fishing here in. Michigan, USA...we use live bait and, cast lures..you guys, zeem to hold carp. In a,higher regard that we, do . There fun to catch but regarded as, trash fish here. Lo e your fishing vids and Mikes, bushcraft vids. Keep it up
Do livebaits catch more than deadbaits? I would've thought deadbaits would be more attractive to a pike, as it's an easy meal and they don't have to expend energy chasing a perfectly healthy live fish.
You can use livebait where it is stated in either a byelaw, or on a particular fishery ,day ticket, or club membership. What is not allowed is the transportation of live fish from one venue to another, to minimise the spread of any disease. As a general rule ,if livebaiting is allowed on a fishery, then you would have to catch your own livebait there. Some fisheries used to keep their own fishery livebaits in a tank so you could buy them. Hope that helps.
Yes but perch are a pain in the arse to keep alive and aren't really that active in the water. Useless at night, stick with roach/rudd but definitely use small bream if you can get them they have the best action in the water. You really want something to mark out the bait a float with a heavy enough fish on it will swim around to wherever they like but you'll find they tend to go to the margins quickly. Nothing beats this for action! Just keep moving the float. Hope this helped
That's standard practice for livebaiting in oceans all round the world, with professional boat captains and crew. Principle works just the same in freshwater. Nothing new, been around for decades.
+we da best awesome They both look the same but are different species. They are the Northern Pike, which we also get in Europe, and the Muskellunge, or "Musky",which we don't. A good freshwater fish Identification book will show the different markings.
yeah pretty much, they are from same Esox family, the muskellunge is very similar but gets bigger. Tiger Muskellunge(Pike X musky) gets just a little bigger than northern pike. Musky is called the fish " of a thousand casts" but they are a lot easier to catch in some areas of Canada and Northern US. They are great fighters, and their first strike can be ferocious. People often catch them reeling in a small fish and then the musky hits it. Musky and Pike are very similar, just differ in size and color/markings.
+TAFishing I live in Essex and have recently been fishing at silver end and the pike in there get up to around 30-35 lb to fish this lake you need the kdaa card to allow you to fish but it includes several other lakes
I can't believe that I have just herd my cousin Tony's name I have a pic of him with a 199lb cat on the abro grait stuff 😄 fingers crossed tony for your big brain operation coming up we all love u loads mate
Great vid guys, lots of info,as for the live baiting,i have no issue with it,I along with thousands of anglers up and down the country have done it for a long time, putting a live roach, bream or dace on the hook is no different to putting worms or maggots on. If it moves, breathes and shits its alive. Crowesheath is a wicked fishery and Nick who runs it is a pukka bloke, why not come down and fish it before casting aspersions on people and places JOHN CADY.
spitz kopf Well there are grey areas e.g. you can just claim: "I didn't want a perch" Or "I wanted a smaller pike", but legally you have to kill every fish you catch thats of legal size and in season.
In Hungary, everyone uses mostly live bait when tries to catch predators. If you tried to explain why it is barbaric, many of anglers would tell you lots of bad words and they would not understand what the problem is with animal cruelty, because more than half of the angler society are very primitive and stupid people. Respect for animals, gentle treatment, C&R is not rare, but not a general behaviour here. Anglers don't feel pain, so WTF... I used to use live baits until I watched your videos about dead bait fishing but I was always in trouble with this question. Live baiting is a very cruel but efficient method, but because of its moral context, I won't do it never again, and I strongly recommend it to everyone.
Livebaits are extremely effective, when all else fails, whatever predator you are targeting. How many times have we been fishing for other species, to be smashed up on the retrieve by a predator!!!!!!!! If this offends then take up another pursuit... Just my opinion BTW..
Don't like life bait, pretty cruel way of fishing. Here in Holland it is even illegal to fish with life bait. They'll give you a big fine when you get caught using life bait...
Even dynamite sticks work a treat, that doesn't mean you should be allowed to use them Tim. Real sport is lure fishing. Dead or live baiting is for the lazy/unskilled anglers.
I don't really like doing it. if you want to catch a pike over 25lb the best bait is a live jack pike. but I just think it is a waste of a creatures life of you don't catch anything. if you go to a river on a boat and you catch lots of jack pike in 1 area the bigger pike will be around and they like to eat the jacks livebaited....
No not going for this......Commercial PIKE water!!!! The water is tiny the pike will feel pressure!! terrible idea. As for live baiting i'm not against it but maybe you didn't need to make a video.
I think its cruel to use live bait. that baby roach could grow one day to be over 3 pounds. and just for your own pleasure of catching a fish to take a picture. hooking it through the nose making it squirm. hardly a sport either, nothing like lure fishing
Just another carp/pike come and get me hole . soon we will be able to buy live fish/ bait at Morrisons. other super markets are available or even hole site owners with big ideas. BAD DEAL

there is no moral high ground, the fish get hooked by there own doing, the bait fish are MADE the be hooked,
Ray Westwood Ray you could say the same about using worms or maggots they don't ask to be put on a hook, you put them on there. So unless you tell me that you have never used worms or maggots as bait, your argument is invalid.
Except he’s hooking it through the spine!
@@lordbenny 🤦♂️

True gentlemen and professionals. A pleasure to meet the team. Great video!!!Thanks :)
Thanks!
I like how he said “calm down ladies” after he mentioned live baits
I've never been into carp fishing anyway. I've been pike fishing for 15 years.
We use live bait for all sorts of fish here in the US. Bass pike Muskie walleye perch crappie. All of our fish in some way or another prey on other fish. Fishing in the US for various predators has always been a dream of mine 😮 over here we have pike and catfish they are the top preds
The little Barbed hook goes in the live bait......big hook for hooking the Pike. :)
This is my local fishing lake! Shame I wasn't there when use lot was there could of gave me a 1 to 1 on pike fishing tips!
Contraversial and emotive subject........I personally have no qualms with using livebait.
Here's a link to the video of when we originally stocked the lake featured in this show. Stocking of the pike lake
That live bait pump would drive me crazy!!
i caught my first pike trolling this last month actually around memorial day. i used a spinner and put a chub on the spinner hooked three the mouth. and caught my limit on day 1
Very good. We a using lifebaits in Latvia and Estonia
You should some fly fishing in Northern Ireland
Graeme, I love watching these over again! :)
Yes finally another coarse fishing video! :D
Live baiting is definitely the most exciting way to fish for pike
Love your pike fishing videos ..I grew up pike fishing and large mouth bass fishing here in. Michigan, USA...we use live bait and, cast lures..you guys, zeem to hold carp. Darude-sandstorm
I caught a foot long pike today just on a bass lure.
The Real White small
Good vid guys better luck next time and as that saying goes "thats why its called fishing and not catching"
Good video mate, like the way you keep it nice and simple, don’t you need a wire trace?
Whereabouts in Essex is that fishery? I'm from Essex, and would like to try that fishery.
Great video Graeme really enjoyed anyways
Man a Pike Lake, i wish we hade something like that in Switzerland. I guess I have to book a fishing trip to Essex :-D
Try Norway - bigger lakes with feisty Pike.
Do livebaits catch more than deadbaits? I would've thought deadbaits would be more attractive to a pike, as it's an easy meal and they don't have to expend energy chasing a perfectly healthy live fish.
Never thought of it like that
Live baits are deadly on some days! Other days dead bait rules. I personally think live bait is more effective
Great vid 👌👌
So is it legal to use live bait within UK or not?I am confused now.
Thank you for an explanation.I appreciate it.
Great video great show. I want those hooks...
Nice pictures of pike!
what size of double hook would you recommend for all round use?
can you use small perch as live bait? also, can you just freeline livebait so the fish can swim around of there own accord?
Yes but perch are a pain in the arse to keep alive and aren't really that active in the water. Useless at night, stick with roach/rudd but definitely use small bream if you can get them they have the best action in the water. You really want something to mark out the bait a float with a heavy enough fish on it will swim around to wherever they like but you'll find they tend to go to the margins quickly. Nice looking place to fish
Where can I buy that weird VV double-hooks that you used to rig the baitfish?
Its called a VB hook ,but I don't know if anyone makes them any more. All mine were from Partridge of Redditch so I am running on old stock.
Great vid again
are u sure too hook the bait behind the dorsal sends it deep ?
That's standard practice for livebaiting in oceans all round the world, with professional boat captains and crew. Principle works just the same in freshwater. Nothing new, been around for decades.
Who else spotted the half milk carton vase!
Its effective obviously but i’d be against it, banned here in Ireland though i’m sure people still practice it.
If your opposed to live baiting I think your in the wrong sport fishing after all is a blood sport
Pike has razor sharp teeth, i saw u dont use steel titanium or thick fluorocarbon. What did U use in this video?
just some 7 on 7 cable,I think its called Tidecutter,in green. About 30lb breaking strain.
You guys should try muskie fishing in the states/Canada. You would love it
What is the difference between pike and Muskie
+we da best awesome They both look the same but are different species. They are the Northern Pike, which we also get in Europe, and the Muskellunge, or "Musky",which we don't. A good freshwater fish Identification book will show the different markings.

+TAFishing ok thank you I have been wondering what the difference is for ages

Have you ever used a lure line dancer. There an American prouduct for bass fishing.
No, never heard of that.
Totaly awsome tortures with beards an mustach haha.
I live in Essex

Wait your pike reach 52 ins long
Pike catchin in sun is just a mith we catched 8 pikes in the sun biggest one was 7.7 kg
Using a livebait is the same as using a live maggot, worm or anything else. And you catch more pike.
why even use live bait fish in a lake like that for pike...
They've shown you can get the same results with deadbait and lures, not a livebait fan.
If got his net !
Here in Germany Live Baiting is not allowed and i think thats good.
And yet, catch and release is forbidden...
not completely, but many idiots have a problem with it
spitz kopf
Well there are grey areas e.g. you can just claim: "I didn't want a perch" Or "I wanted a smaller pike", but legally you have to kill every fish you catch thats of legal size and in season.
spitz kopf its abit cruel if ihook them i do it in the mouth with a 4/0 hook through the mouth or hit them over the head with a stick
spitz kopf it's brutal but it sure works
Hi I was wandering have you ever been fishing in wales because their are pretty big carp mostly around 15 to 20 pounds
No,not done welsh freshwater, just driven through it to get to Ireland.Sounds like some good fishing though.Maybe one day I'll hit the brakes !!
Good question ,that would be perfect for the beautiful scenery wales has to offer with quality waters .
bam ta
Not a good advertisement for that lake if you can’t catch a pike in half a acre 25 or so fish …. Then that’s not good , nice tips on hooking lives tho

Make some Carp videos Please :)

Yes but it works well

RickRR22 i find spinners and spoons r best and they r penuts
RickRR22 then use dead bait
That’s why you never hear of any good Dutch fishing
I don't really like doing it. if you want to catch a pike over 25lb the best bait is a live jack pike. but I just think it is a waste of a creatures life of you don't catch anything. if you go to a river on a boat and you catch lots of jack pike in 1 area the bigger pike will be around and they like to eat the jacks livebaited....

Ma non hai neanche i soldi per comprare un secchio porta vivo ed un ossigenatore
Totaly awsome tortures with beards an mustach haha.
If your opposed to live baiting I think your in the wrong sport fishing after all is a blood sport
Thats a cold blood sport,
a bloodsport is when you batter the living daylights out of a thief
