I'm a pike fisherman and you guys helped me out so much when getting into carp. But still watching your pike videos I always learn a thing or two. Thanks and keep it up!
I wish I could fish at the moment because I have recently been sent over to live with my mum in hull where you once visited and I had to leave all of my gear behind at my father's and I cannot go fishing for the next few months. But your videos keep me happy and I enjoy watching the.
I didnt really watch your fishing tutorials that much and i know this video is 2 years old. but in 3 weeks i call the Uk my new home and cant wait to get properly into fishing there
great advises and especially the hint about the barbs are very much appreciated. there´s a lot of damage potential to the fish if we do not unhook properly, cleanly AND fast so we can release it!
Awesome video and very useful information I will hopefully be catching some crocks this winter as planning on going pike fishing a bit more as only done it a handful of times
I honestly cannot thank you guys enough for the top tips!! I’ve just started pike fishing and following your advice and tactics I’ve netted a few doubles down my river yesterday.
Great video👍🎣 have you tried fly fishing for pikes? Is very effective on rivers or canals as you can fish really slow much slower than lure and the pike are more likely to grab a fly than lure when weather is colder 👌 recent session brought me 21 lb river severn pike. So I think the fly fishing is the best method, if you don't like to sit and wait like with dead bait, and if u want fish slower than lures but still wana cover more areas than is perfect choise 😉👍🎣
First of all AMAZING VIDEO ❤️🔥 I just Wonder how can you Guys post your videos so perfectly timed when i need it.. @Tommy Yuckguts Ohhh mate it was the Best trip of My life My uncle started of catching a 14 pounder and then i caught a 7 pounder and then the big moment CAME.. I CAUGHT MYSELF A NEW PB A 12 pounder im a Lucky man 🥳th-cam.com/video/JvRQAS-Kd1s/w-d-xo.html I made a video about our trip
You can fish this paternoster type rig without a float, just keep your rod tip high. I've used 3oz lead and a 'rotten bottom' weak link of 8lb mono. Depending on what mono line you have to hand if you tie one or two simple overhand knots in the weak link this further weakens it and ensures a break off if your weight gets snagged. I tend to use a long trace, 2.5ft to 3ft and a smallish bait which wafts around. Forceps are good for twisting traces but I'd recommend long pliers for unhooking.
lots of beautiful big pike, that is interesting how pike in clear water where sight is very important have stronger deeper markings. it's adaptation to the surroundings. 👍
Another great video guys ...I've just started using this rig although scaled down for livebaiting for perch...nothing big yet but hopefully in the near future....do u guys ever livebait for perch?
Would like to see a video about how you hook your live baits. Everyone does it differently, some through the lip or nose, some through the tail others through the dorsal. For this rig, I would probably hook the top treble through the tail and the end treble in the flank or dorsal.
Are there any UK fisherman who use baitcasters for anything? I’m genuinely curious, not here to start a “what reel is better” debate. Love your videos guys!
Another cracking video. The whole splicing and what not is a bit too technical for me. Is there a more simple, yet effective dead bait rig you could recommend please? Thanks!
th-cam.com/video/Onab_Z8N5g0/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=FishingTutorials this rig works ok! You just can't anchor it in the flow on a river like you can with a paternoster :)
Iv seen a 36lb caught right where I was fishing last year. Moored the bots up and put 6 deadbaits out was absolutely gutted had a 15.67 and a 17.11 puke out so far though
Nice vid! No wonder the 'second' fish looks the same as the first. I'm almost certain you caught the same fish twice! Look at the little wound near the tail around 3:04 and 13:55 ;)
When you fix the float top and bottom you can onlly fish as deep as you can comfotably cast with a fixed rig. Leave the bottom float stop off the youncan fish any depth.
I always catch a pike when I don't want too. I usually aim for chubs and lately 3 pikes decided to have a go at the chubs I caught. Two of them destroyed my line but i manage to bring one out if the river.
Would you recommend this rig for fishing steep sloping ledges from 20 ft into 40 ft . / And if u were suspending the bait would you stuff it with foam to pop it up off the bottom . Looking advice for fishing a large natural Lough
Hi I have just started pike fishing. Had a few pike bout 3 to 4 pounds. Going to tri some dead baiting this weekend on a lake I was a bit confused when u said bout not using a weight can u use a fox 🦊 quick change wight on a lake under the float ?
Using saltwater baits in freshwater can on rare occasions transfer diseases that don't belong in freshwater and can be very damaging to freshwater fish. I don't know about the rules in the UK but here in Denmark it's actually not allowed for that exact reason. Maybe that's something for you guys to look into. Otherwise great video as always!
We use saltwater fish because freshwater fish can transfer diseases from other waters and it's not permitted in the U.K. Laws are funny! haha. If our bait comes from somewhere other than where we are fishing, we'll freeze the bait at -20 for 24hrs as that will kill any parasites.
Great videos, my son and I are just getting into fishing and your videos are an amazing help. When using this paternoster rig what would the maximum depth could you fish using a float with it? Is it possible to do it without a float if the water is too deep, 10-12 feet?
You can fish this at any depth! Just slide the float stop further up the line :) if it’s a struggle to cast the float stop through your rod eyes, try some marker elastic tied to the line to stop the float instead. You could also fish this rig without a float and just have the line tight to your rod tip and watch the rod for bites :)
Would u put a ground bait or another kind of bait to draw the smaller fish in ,then use a dead bait in the middle of the baited area, or would u just go straight for a dead bait, great video again lads
I'll try and help you as no one else has answered yet. Most pike anglers just go in with straight dead/live baits because it is often enough for a bite, and is less hassle and far less mess ! Oh and costs less too. Haha. But I have used groundbait a few times, just go with either plain brown crumb, or if you think a quality pre flavoured fish meal would be better then go for it. I then picked out a few odd deadbaits, you know smaller or damaged ones, defrost them then chop and smash some up, some 1 inch chunks max and some mashed up flesh ( thawed out sardines are great )so your not throwing in half baits that will end up feeding them up, your looking for maximum attraction without feeding them. Also adding things like tinned fish, tuna or makerel is all good. And there is a whole host of potential liquid attracters to add in aswell, predator plus, or spicy shrimp n prawn, halibut to name just a few. What I always do is prep the powder ground bait first with water and any liquid attracters, like you would traditionally for regular fishing. Then I add the tinned fish, the reason I go this way is when I then give the mix a real good working over with my hands the tinned fish will basically disintegrate and spread evenly, I then let it stand for 10 mins, then give it a whirl to check the moisture content, then if I'm happy I'll then add the chopped and mashed dead bait flesh. Give it another 10 mins and then your good to go. Obviously the moisture level is variable and most dependent on the type of water your fishing, a drier mix for lakes n ponds and a wetter mix is better for forming stiffer balls for moving water rivers and creaks, and for deeper venues. One more thing I'd add is, that when you want to apply it, don't go in with the massive 2 handed balls, like the big round balls you sometimes see bream anglers making to lay a carpet feed, your not wanting this, you want big hits if fish scent being drip fed, to draw pike in, catch they're intrerst, I'd say one hand in the bucket and grab a medium amount, then slight squeeze , rotate round half way and another squeeze, usually makes an oval shaped nugget the size of about half a tennis ball, and a couple will do to start up, then just add another one every 20-30 mins around your hook bait. Always feed upstream of your hook bait in flowing waters for obv's reasons. Hope this helps.

@@theohastings2118 I would do that but problem is i can only use 1 hook per line so if i wanted to put 2 single hooks on a rod it would be against the rules.
@@krik3950 Instead of the single hook, you could try to use a stinger spike (for example Westin Stinger Spike). Usually it's used for lures, but probably it can be used for deadbaits as well.
