What really stands out to me here is how Elder Princess Shroom is both justifiably enraged at the loss of her sister and the decimation of her people’s last chance at survival but is also completely unsympathetic to the suffering that her subjects has caused onto the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom. Attacking countless towns and villages to capture their Toads to siphon off their Vim for their spaceships, mutating a Yoshi Egg to create Yoob, using Yoob to capture all the Yoshi’s on Yoshi Island in order to convert them into more Yoobs, feeding Princess Peach to Petey Piranha in the Colosseum as entertainment to the invading Forces, Shroobifying Toadbert, Kylie Koopa, and even Baby Bowser without any mercy. She talks of her revenge being justified but her actions just show how much the Shroobs are truly the villains of this story, parasites that could’ve been Timeless Partners to the Mushroom Kingdom. It’s fitting how her sister is burning in Eternal Flames while Elder Princess Shroob and her remaining Shroobs are frozen eternally right under Bowser’s Castle, all of them alive but suffering for all of eternity.
You know, it’s really interesting to hear the war from the mind of the elder shroob. Throughout the entire story we only see the atrocities they committed, learn how they take glee in the Mushroom Kingdom’s downfall, and seem to exist for only one purpose: to destroy. Yet it’s interesting to hear the leader of these invaders speak their mind, since they don’t just care about destruction (though would probably still find it a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.) They see the invasion of the kingdom as a last-ditch effort to save a people they know is dying, and that to fall now would mean the end of their entire species. Adding to this the death of her sister, plus her imprisonment within the cobalt star, and the Elder Princess is fueled with nothing but rage and spite in a vain hope to bring back what little remains of her people. It’s honestly kinda sad when you think about it... if the shroobs weren’t so obsessed with thoughts of destruction, they might have been able to co-exist with the rest of the mushroom kingdom... they could have been timeless partners, but turned out to be nothing but parasites.
And yet even after all she's been through and her supposed death in PiT, we can see her frozen in ice in BIS. It's difficult to make out in the original, but luckily the remake makes it clearer to see.
I don’t think they were evil like you said. Remember they came from a planet that had very little light. Their planet died because it had no or lost its star... if they were to try to live in mushroom kingdom as it was they would likely die... the only way they could live was to make the planet hospitable to their kind... And that would make it inhospitable for humans and toads... they were a desperate dying race and the elder was the only one who was still sane. Then it all fell apart when her sister died....

For me after Bowser Inside Story they dtarted the downfall, dream team was good but paper jam was a disapointment for me: it have the chance to be the ultimate crossover ( even better than smash ) but isntead we have the STICKER STAR of the mario&luigi franchise.

Yes! Another Mario and Luigi song! I really like how the Princess is portrayed: She isn't a mindless beast who only want to destroy, like all the other Shroobs. (doesn't mean she's nice though) She care for the Shroobs, and most importantly, she care for her sister. And she wants to avenge them.
I love how at 1:49, she seems so sad because of all the dead Shroobs and there’s no echo, then the echo returns at 2:01 as the lyrics grow more... sinister might be the word I’m looking for. And then she starts sounding more angered and hateful as the song continues.
At 2:26, she seems so angry at her sister's demise. Her only sibling that she cared for, killed by two babies and two plumbers. It seems that she lost all morals (if she even had them, that is), in favour of trying to avenge her fallen kind and more importantly, her sister.

As a reminder, the Shroobs still exist in the Mario and Luigi timeline, as seen in BiS where they are all frozen, including the Elder Princess Shroob apparently. And while it's beyond unlikely that they'll get any reappearance, given Alphadream the is gone and Partners in Time wasn't so successful, it would be amazing to see this twisted species rise again...
And I believe that if Alphadream didn't go to bancarroupt the next game would feature the shroobs because in Bowser Jr journey we see that after the Bros defeated the three shroobs more shroobs unfroze
You gotta think, though. Even as they get shot down, more fill the sky to meet the same fate. They're all willing to die for their monarch. They're willing to fall to save their brothers and sisters from extinction. They're desperate enough to act as kamikaze bombers in a desperate attempt to win.
They chose to fight over an indignant end at the hand of extinction. As their ruler she has no option but to respect their resolve. To bemoan their death would be to spit on their sacrifices.
This amazing piece really makes you think. Yes, it was the shroobs who invaded and enslaved everyone, but even at the end of the journey, you caused an entire alien race to be wiped out, wherefor Elder Princess Shroob is the very last stand before the shroobs die off forever.
Truly an underrated sequel that still deserved alot better, but you good sir once again made an epic cover for other to truly respect It now! Hearing the Instrumental to this this TRULY puts Zira's Lullaby to shame!

Again I will say it again, Partners in Time has to have the most tragic story. Sure Super Paper Mario had a Romeo and Juliet with the whole world ending story, but this one is a race that knows nothing but destruction and will lead the entire existence of life to genocide. Even if they won and conquered the Mushroom Kingdom they would proceed to the next then the next till there was nothing left then. They too would consume each other until all is now gone. And in the end you sentenced this race to extinction there is no happy ending or compromise for them.
I am pretty sure she was one of the shroob that actually spoke the same language as the mario bros and everyone else. Since she does speak normally without the translation brackets before her fight, and while she was in the cobalt star she also spoke to the mario bros and they understood her without a problem.
The Shroobs are the one of the most underrated Mario villains. An invasive alien species that destroy everything on their path, always looking for new homes that they'll inevitably ruin. But at the same time they also fight for their own survival because if they don't find new worlds they will go extinct. Kind of a step up above Bowser kidnapping Peach. They had so much potential to become recurring foes. Anyone else think the Shroobs are way more fitting villains for the Galaxy games?
I doubt the Shroobs will ever return in a spotlight of a Mario game. I imagine they'll be stuck to cameos and Easter eggs for at least several more years. The Shroobs' last appearance was a pretty big flop - financially - was it not? Partners in Time was the worst selling game in the series. To risk bringing them back for any prime position is a risky move, and not one I'd expect higher ups to think as smart. Then again, Nintendo always breaks the mold... The decisions they make don't conform to the rest of the industry. Bringing Shroobs back may be just the crazy idea they're looking for to reinvent a series.

If you think about it, the shroobs are basically the same as the daleks, both are warlike, both distort other species into versions of themselves or just wipe from existence and they are ultimately thwarted by time travelers who almost completely wipe them out.
Something about how passionate she is about avenging her people and sister almost makes her seem sweet and caring, despite how angry and monstrous she ends up I like seeing villains with good intentions that just carry out their goals in a not so good way
I like this song, mostly because it’s believable that this queen is still trying to keep her species alive, and they are willing to do anything to achieve that goal.

Characters who do stuff like that for no reason other than megalomania like Antasma or the Shadow Queen are undoubtedly going to hell, whereas characters who only do evil out of necessity like the Shroobs, whose home planet was dying, forcing them to find another planet to live on, won’t be judged just because of that one act of evil.
The Shroobs' problems happen because they are evil. Their world was destroyed by their constant war. They were killed by the Bros. because of their needlessly cruel crimes against humanity. Their culture can be summed up in their most frequently used word: "Destroy." And don't forget the Elder Princess's self-righteous rant of how she cares about her people rings hollow when she literally uses them as ammo to get you. The Shroobs' princesses were hypocritical, genocidal monsters and the Underwhere has a special place for them.

I love how this song show’s the Shroobs race’s warped perspective. They believe they are the better than any dumb humans, that the Bros acts to defend their planet are disgraceful. “They should not have the honor of striking us down!” They’ve come too far, they *must* be better. Also Elder Princess Shroob is rightfully pissed that her sister is dead. I especially like the lyric, “But you will not see her again, for you’ll burn in eternal flame.” She believes her sister is going to heaven, while the Bros will go to hell. The shroobs truly think they are in the right.
I love how you represented the stakes and emotion behind this song. It feels like the bitter end to a war with no winners, where the losers are forced into extinction and the victors need to live with what they've done. Good job.

This song is incredible: I never stopped to think all the pain the Shroobs had to endure (0:24 - 1:05) and this song makes you really think about the consequences of trying to win the war against the Shroobs in Present and Past It's also amazing how the song tells the outcome of the battle as time passes: Princess Shroob was so confident at the beginning that she would win the war (1:05 - 1:30 ) but as the song progresses she forgets about the war and she makes one last effort to avenge her kind and her sister (1:32 - 2:25) while at the same time she slowly gets more desperate and angry, but finally at the last moment she realizes that no matter what she does she has lost the fight (2:50 - 3:05). This really makes you see that entire fight from a different perspective, one that you don't normally experience in regular gameplay. It actually made me feel kinda sad for defeating her...
I thought she had the worst fate in Mario and was one of the most tragic Mario characters. She was burned alive and then her soul which was a wraith of spores was also incinerated...

I like to think of this as the pinnacle of Mario and Luigi’s story. Until now, they have just been on short campaigns to get Peach back from Bowser and the Koopa Kids. This only prepared them to be the heroes of a full scale war. Furthermore, this was so difficult a journey that Mario and Luigi needed needed their own help from a different time.
PiT is one of the games I hoped it got remade on the 3DS even when the switch came out. But this battle’s theme before this cover you did excellently felt like everything as at stake. Time itself was in danger as the shroobs were using the past to take control of the present. But when you did the cover for it, the song went from an emotional underrated battle theme on what Elder Princess Shroob was doing to make what’s right for her kind made it into a desperate she will win even if she failed.
Also I think that maybe not the nicest people is the wrong term they just idk If they could be nice like look at them also the shroobs desire a different type of planet for their species

I love it, it almost feels like it's both humanity AND shroobkind at their last stand. One will live and prosper, the other will die forever. Such was the message behind this masterpiece of a song, also the fact that was so orchestra-like meant that shit was going to go southland. Too bad was game was so underrated, despite being a launch title, and overshadowed by "HEY Y'ALL THIS IS THE GAME WHERE YOU CAN PLAY AS BOWSER"

The community as a whole agrees on the fact that Bowser's Inside Story is the best Mario RPG game to ever exist alongside Paper Mario TTYD. Everyone has his own opinion and leaderboard but you can't spit on BiS like that even though you think Partners in Time is better. The truth is, all of Alphadream's games were legendary (I really mean it) and they all should've gotten a remake. It really sucks that they've gone bankrupt :(

The way the Elder sister calls out the brothers with the line "crushed her til her heart was stilled" really sets home how you really did murder her with crazy magic flowers, cannons, and giant steel hammers.
The funny thing is both the brothers, and all of the mushroom kingdom really. Have the same goal as the shroobs, kill off one species so they can survive nobody is really in the right here
I feel as miserable for joyfully killing of shroobs in my playthrough of partners in time, BECAUSE I just sang along the lyrics of Final Battle, the Elder Princess shroob was trying to avenge her dead sister and she knows how many shroobs were killed by the mario bros. I mean the song LITERALLY say she doesn't care the price she has to pay just so the fallen shroobs could be revived and her species to NOT die off! Edit: No matter who wins or losses in the fight, one race will survive and one race will fall to extinction and be effectively killed off.

Don't worry! The Shroobs aren't fully extinct. In BIS there are a few frozen in Bowser's Castle. Even when you defeat the 3 that give a bros attack there are still more there, so they probably aren't gone
This really captures how much darker PiT was compared to the others in the SAME FRANCHISE. Here its not as easy to tell if you are infact the good guy. Looking at the perspective of the shroobs it does really seem you are the villain.

You don't know if they are a dying race. This is a fan-made song, not an official source. Most countries who start a war don't send their entire population on the battlefield. All shroob ships that we can see in the game are battleships. If this was the entire species, there would be some big but unarmed ships for livestock.

You know what would be sad? Princess Shroob with lyrics, but it's made very clear she doesn't care the slightest bit about her elder sister and just want to make her world her personal playground. The only reason why she root for her release is to have revenge on the plumbers.
I could see it But, I feel that is not the focus of the Game that Nintendo had in mind. The title Of the game is called “Partners in Time” thus putting all of the Focus on the Time Travel & Past selves meets/vs Future selves. & Lets face it Time travel did play a huge Hand in The Mario’s Victory over the Shroobs. While in “War of the Worlds” what ultimately defeated the Aliens without spoiling the book or what I know of it, was something that was a combination of Irony & was anticlimactic in the long run.
What the shroobs did leading up to this moment was beyond awful, and yet hearing these lyrics made me cry. (Seriously it did) I went back and listened to your Crowned song and hearing that makes cry a little. Not many songs make me cry a little, so you have a real gift Juno

At 2:26, she seems so angry at her sister's demise. Her only sibling that she cared for, killed by two babies and two plumbers. It seems that she lost all morals (if she even had them, that is), in favour of trying to avenge her fallen kind and more importantly, her sister.

As a reminder, the Shroobs still exist in the Mario and Luigi timeline, as seen in BiS where they are all frozen, including the Elder Princess Shroob apparently. And while it's beyond unlikely that they'll get any reappearance, given Alphadream the is gone and Partners in Time wasn't so successful, it would be amazing to see this twisted species rise again...

Again I will say it again, Partners in Time has to have the most tragic story. Sure Super Paper Mario had a Romeo and Juliet with the whole world ending story, but this one is a race that knows nothing but destruction and will lead the entire existence of life to genocide. Even if they won and conquered the Mushroom Kingdom they would proceed to the next then the next till there was nothing left then. They too would consume each other until all is now gone. And in the end you sentenced this race to extinction there is no happy ending or compromise for them.

The Shroobs are the one of the most underrated Mario villains. An invasive alien species that destroy everything on their path, always looking for new homes that they'll inevitably ruin. But at the same time they also fight for their own survival because if they don't find new worlds they will go extinct. Kind of a step up above Bowser kidnapping Peach.
They had so much potential to become recurring foes. Anyone else think the Shroobs are way more fitting villains for the Galaxy games?

The Shroobs' last appearance was a pretty big flop - financially - was it not? Partners in Time was the worst selling game in the series. To risk bringing them back for any prime position is a risky move, and not one I'd expect higher ups to think as smart.
Then again, Nintendo always breaks the mold... The decisions they make don't conform to the rest of the industry. Bringing Shroobs back may be just the crazy idea they're looking for to reinvent a series.

If you think about it, the shroobs are basically the same as the daleks, both are warlike, both distort other species into versions of themselves or just wipe from existence and they are ultimately thwarted by time travelers who almost completely wipe them out.

The Shroobs' problems happen because they are evil. Their world was destroyed by their constant war. They were killed by the Bros. because of their needlessly cruel crimes against humanity. Their culture can be summed up in their most frequently used word: "Destroy." And don't forget the Elder Princess's self-righteous rant of how she cares about her people rings hollow when she literally uses them as ammo to get you. The Shroobs' princesses were hypocritical, genocidal monsters and the Underwhere has a special place for them.

I never stopped to think all the pain the Shroobs had to endure (0:24 - 1:05) and this song makes you really think about the consequences of trying to win the war against the Shroobs in Present and Past
It's also amazing how the song tells the outcome of the battle as time passes: Princess Shroob was so confident at the beginning that she would win the war (1:05 - 1:30 ) but as the song progresses she forgets about the war and she makes one last effort to avenge her kind and her sister (1:32 - 2:25) while at the same time she slowly gets more desperate and angry, but finally at the last moment she realizes that no matter what she does she has lost the fight (2:50 - 3:05). This really makes you see that entire fight from a different perspective, one that you don't normally experience in regular gameplay.
It actually made me feel kinda sad for defeating her...

I like to think of this as the pinnacle of Mario and Luigi’s story. Until now, they have just been on short campaigns to get Peach back from Bowser and the Koopa Kids. This only prepared them to be the heroes of a full scale war. Furthermore, this was so difficult a journey that Mario and Luigi needed needed their own help from a different time.
PiT is one of the games I hoped it got remade on the 3DS even when the switch came out. But this battle’s theme before this cover you did excellently felt like everything as at stake. Time itself was in danger as the shroobs were using the past to take control of the present. But when you did the cover for it, the song went from an emotional underrated battle theme on what Elder Princess Shroob was doing to make what’s right for her kind made it into a desperate she will win even if she failed.

I love it, it almost feels like it's both humanity AND shroobkind at their last stand. One will live and prosper, the other will die forever. Such was the message behind this masterpiece of a song, also the fact that was so orchestra-like meant that shit was going to go southland. Too bad was game was so underrated, despite being a launch title, and overshadowed by "HEY Y'ALL THIS IS THE GAME WHERE YOU CAN PLAY AS BOWSER"

I feel as miserable for joyfully killing of shroobs in my playthrough of partners in time, BECAUSE I just sang along the lyrics of Final Battle, the Elder Princess shroob was trying to avenge her dead sister and she knows how many shroobs were killed by the mario bros. I mean the song LITERALLY say she doesn't care the price she has to pay just so the fallen shroobs could be revived and her species to NOT die off!
Edit: No matter who wins or losses in the fight, one race will survive and one race will fall to extinction and be effectively killed off.
Disturbing fact: most of the sapient non-human, non-toad life being “saved” will just die in the next Mario game.
@@ExDixionconderoga But in Bowser's Inside Story, Bowser somehow cytogenetically froze surviving Shroobs, Junior Shrooboids, along with Princess Shroob and Elder Princess Shroob.
@@minatokurasou7106 Finally, Bowser does a good thing, saving even seemingly dead shroobs through cryogenic freezing. Hopefully they can be defrosted and find a new home.

Don't worry! The Shroobs aren't fully extinct. In BIS there are a few frozen in Bowser's Castle. Even when you defeat the 3 that give a bros attack there are still more there, so they probably aren't gone

This really captures how much darker PiT was compared to the others in the SAME FRANCHISE. Here its not as easy to tell if you are infact the good guy. Looking at the perspective of the shroobs it does really seem you are the villain.

Listening to this made me realize that throughout the whole game we are committing genocide against an already dying race. But the blame still goes to the Shroobs, they chose violence instead of peaceful cooperation, and we brought their extinction as a result,
You don't know if they are a dying race. This is a fan-made song, not an official source. Most countries who start a war don't send their entire population on the battlefield. All shroob ships that we can see in the game are battleships. If this was the entire species, there would be some big but unarmed ships for livestock.

Let me guess next Mario and Luigi song is paper jam. You know this is very fitting for the elder shroob because she was in prisoned, forced to watch her kind and even her sister fall while this song is in my opinion very sad while also keeping the fact that elder shroob is not only fighting for sister but for her kind too and even at the saddest parts of this song her voice was very chilling I also like that she just wants this war to end because all it has done was cause her pain.
Edit: if you do paper jam can you do the final boss with both phases? Also can you (and I know you did dream team already) do dream bowser song?

I could see it But, I feel that is not the focus of the Game that Nintendo had in mind. The title Of the game is called “Partners in Time” thus putting all of the Focus on the Time Travel & Past selves meets/vs Future selves.
& Lets face it Time travel did play a huge Hand in The Mario’s Victory over the Shroobs.
While in “War of the Worlds” what ultimately defeated the Aliens without spoiling the book or what I know of it, was something that was a combination of Irony & was anticlimactic in the long run.
In war of the worlds the aliens really were truly evil though correct? The shroobs were in agony and were victims of circumstances
