Thanks for posting this video. I just changed the fan clutch on my 2009 Xterra and your instructions saved me time. It is possible to remove the fan with clutch attached without removing the fan shroud. Opening both radiator caps will let the coolant flow into the de-air (overflow) bottle so the upper radiator hose can be disconnected without spilling coolant.
3:29 I'm at this step as of yesterday and wasted so much time trying to break those little nuts loose with a tiny ass 10mm wrench just like you're doing here, but they need way more torque than I can give due to the fan shroud being in the way (that's all I wanna remove really is the shroud, but i can't take it out bc the fan blades are in the way), and I just can't fit my arms and hands down far enough to get any leverage at all. I see you had those nuts pre loosened... How did you break them/what did you use? The regular box end 10mm just slips off constantly every time I try to apply force, and then I spend like another several minutes trying to get the freaking wrench onto the nut to try again. Unless you know a way to wrestle to fan shroud out/around the blades without having to remove the fan? That would be of great help.
I thought this was a real replacement until he put the old clutch back on. A few wasted steps-- why disconnect both ends of the airflow duct when you're removing the air filter cover anyways? Why remove the cover with the V6 on it - you can get a deep 10 mil socket in between without doing that- and why loosen those two parallel hoses-- they are in the way even more hanging loose like that. And why do these vids never show the lower work-- like the lower shroud?
@@dllv1062 I think it's just that they used the same sequence several times for several videos that asked to do the same manipulations and they forgot a detail. 😀
My 2007 Nissan frontiers temp gauge goes up when in idle and comes back down when I’m driving the vehicle. Would this be a broken radiator fan clutch? Or radiator fan?
+Kuma Makanui We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
