I love your sense of humor and how you overcome adversity. I'm sure I would have been so frustrated multiple times along this journey. Perhaps you edit it out but when things break or go wrong you just laugh it off and keep on keeping on.
There's definitely frustration, but that frustration usually means more money or time invested. I'm too deep in to turn back lol. My next video dropping will be on the crx 👍
K series engines were in production for 10 years and used in some of the most popular models (civics, accords, crvs, etc). Someone will want that engine.😂
Bro if you could rebuild the old engine and make a video that would be sick! I know a lot of people who’d benefit from it! Love your videos dude. Much love from Cali!
Thank you for giving me something to look at when you were ranting lol. I totally feel you on not wanting to have a pristine car from the get go just so you can drive it as intended and not lose sleep over boo boos
You're welcome lol. Yeah I've had cars like that were I'd lose sleep because of a ding or scratch on my car. I hare that feeling! I was the crx to look good but not too good! Lol glad someone understands
I think you're right about the old engine. Thanks, that raving was a last minute thing that I threw in because it just felt right and seemed funny 😁 thanks for watching 👍
A trick for the heater hoses. Use a pick to lift up the end of the hose just a bit, and spray WD-40 or PB Blaster with a spray straw into the gap where the pick is. Move the pick around and let the WD-40 get all underneath the hose. Twist the hose around a few times after and they slide off easy.
I use silicone spray for that purpose and that's what I usually do but they Hoses from 91 were bonded to the metal. Best thing is to just sice it off 👍
It’s about damn Time you came with a video my boy! I just scored a k24a2 off of a wrecked 04 tsx. It’s going into my 88 hatch. I’ll be tuning and use your videos as a guide. Keep it coming. Impressive talent you got there bro!
Get rid of that alternator relocation kit and do the ep3 pulley or side mount design. I've done broke 5 bolts in that water pump housing and it's no fun extracting the bolt. Just a heads up! Looks good 👍🏼
@@themechanic6117 just a bad design, I ran mine with just intake and headers. I used the k tuned hardware it snapped the bolt on top, so I tried something stronger from ace. It lasted a couple months then snapped again, reached out to ktuned and got another kit, snapped again. Finally tried the oem Honda bolts. Those lasted the longest but snapped again. I pulled the water pump housing off each time and extracted the rest of the bolt. This last time It snapped I left it in there and went with the k tuned side mount pulley design (should have just done the ep3 style) I'm also boosted now so I need that durability.
That ep3 style would fit in a crx ? Sorry it's been a while since I looked into this so I can't remember. I'm probably going to wait for it to break then do something about it 🤣
@@themechanic6117 I hope you have better luck than I did, but that ep3 adjustable pulley will fit fine. You just need to put your OEM tensioner back on and put your alternator back in the OEM location.
there's definitely a market for those stock CRX motors if you decide to sell it! a full rebuild video series would be cool though. either way, great progress man!
The music reminds me of the race wars scene in the original f&f. If you wanna donate that old engine I’m sure someone would gladly take it off your hands
Ha! That's true now I think of it, yeah I'm sure someone would pick it up off of me . The original owner of the car wanted the stock engine if I ever pulled it out but I haven't heard from him in a while .
Hey man I love your channel and I am doing a very similar build. I sold the old swap to someone who had the time and energy and needed it. I highly advise selling it, you still have a good swap and can make some good money!
Thank you, I appreciate it. I'm not sure who would buy it lol . On Facebook market I see a few of them for a $200-$400 and it doesn't look like they're selling lol .
@themechanic6117 I just picked up a wago and have been watching a lot of swaps. There's a way, but I get what you're saying. Most have to cut the ribs on the hood and shave the intake for it to shut without a hole. Both I'm not really fond of. I'd rather custom make a hood if that's the case it would look a lot cleaner. Either way, keep up the good work. Vtech Academy has some of the best videos if you run into any issues with like the speedo and other things most don't mention.
Aren't there another set of holes on the passenger side mount so you can go lower and get more hood clearance? Anyways, just found your channel and subbed. I have a 91 CRX and I am finally in a position to get my K swap plan moving. Going to start sourcing parts soon!
Nice! Start collecting parts and you'll get there 💪 yes I can lower the engine on the mount but I'd rather have ground clearance over making the engine fit under a hood. It won't be a daily driver so it's ok if I have to cut the hood. I don't want to be scared of every bump on the road taking out my oil pan . There's a whole playlist of crx videos 👍
I once had a sponsorship with ktuned but that was after I already bought most of the parts I needed. If I remember correctly it was like a 25% discount, I was looking on their website for things I could buy but didn't really need.... 🙃 . The discount was appreciated but kinda useless since I pretty much bought everything I needed already.to top it off every penny of this build has come out of my pocket. I'd rather have no sponsors so that people can't say " I could build that too if I was givin free parts " it's insulting because I know all of this was done by myself, not sponsors or free parts .
Nice content bro! This hasport kit has mounts left and right mounts that can be flipped if you plan on using the k24 or k20 to get proper clearance for your valve cover and intake manifold.
