Inspired by wave/ocean discussion at about 12:00 Imagine a conscious ocean wave. The wave sees itself as separate from other waves. The wave realizes that one day it will cease to be, an event it calls “beach.” The thought of beach prompts the wave to question itself. What am I, really? What happens after beach? I am part, thinks the wave, of a vast, ancient ocean. I am not ocean but ocean is me. Yet, I feel separate and vulnerable and afraid of beach. What can I do to consciously realize my identity with ocean? To physically merge with ocean, I would have to cease to be. Which would be the death of me. But I can go halfway. Now and then, I’ll sit and meditate on my identity with ocean. Sitting in meditation, I’ll try to cultivate a still peaceful mental state. In mentally giving up thoughts, emotions, and physical movement, I abstract myself from myself and feel myself as ocean, vast and unlimited. Some say that at beach we merge with ocean. Seems reasonable. Now, back to meditation.
A Beautiful example of objectifying your awareness happened in this video itself when swamiji realized that his quote about awareness was very commendable after he said it. The tricks and jokes our souls play on ourselves for our ahankara's realization are amazing.
I think the difference is, he REALLY understands it himself, and has no egoic desire to appear mystic and unobtainable. It makes him a very good teacher.
The moment I start watching swamyji videos, I feel so happy and all smiles while watching. Great people doing so much for the welfare of the people across globe. 👏 🙏🙏🙏
Ah, I've considered this. You get into this loop of: I'm aware. Now I'm aware that I'm aware. But now I'm aware of the awareness of my awareness. And now I'm aware that I'm aware of the awareness of my awareness.. and so on. I like to illustrate it as 2 mirrors, facing each other., you know, you get that repeating reflection and it just goes on and on and on? That. But the mind. And the awareness is you, the person looking down the infinity mirror and seeing no end.
If you don't read Bhagvad geeta which is Gods words and beating in the bush here there give your own interpretation then how can you understand consciousness. First thing is no body can describe what is brahmn ,because no body can speak it ,one who realize he can not speak because it's not the subject of words, then how you can speak, that's why without mercy of the supreme soul or God no body can understand him as it is mention in upnishad
The Pure Consciousness is all Intelligence Perfect, it as if comes down lower to mind-matter, it is Ignorance, but power that enable to, as if create limited illusion. It is really a miracle, this Maya.
I just can't believe you sir that awareness is something non physical Niether energy not matter .. How can you be so sure ? Please if you can provide logical proof for it.
Good description of awareness. The very obsession to objectify is the inherent property of duality itself. This is suffering. Buddha suggests to wake up. Duality continues as appearances but the objectifying of them along with grasping and rejection is seen for what it is.
Profound.Swami your speeches come to me as homework everyday to try and realise. In the process I feel so happy and and each day is a new horizon to me.Grief had led me to start listen to your speeches. At present I feel am on a journey ahead where I have left grief behind and walking towards infinity ,my conscious awareness.Cannot thank you enough.Such a positivity
We are the parts of one awareness. Ok, but we all exist with our individual identity as a man. If we dissolve ourselves in one awareness, then we will lose our identity as a man. Then nothing comes and goes for a man whether the awareness is vast or eternal. Similarly, if a wave dissolves in the water of the sea, it loses its life and identity. There is no benefit for that wave whether the sea is vast or not. Is it like this?
🙏🙏🙏 Pranam Maharaj We cant use our forefinger to touch that same finger itself as we touch other objects. Similarly we cannot know the Self or Brahman as an object... but only remove our attention from all that is Non-Self (the world, body, mind, intellect... the panchakosha)..... and just BE the Self. 🙏
I'm a big fan of the Swami, and also of Arnold Schwarzenegger, so it's doubly gratifying to hear a person from Arnold's land and the Swami, in the same video... "Awayuh-ness". "I'll be back.. ". :D (No offense meant).
If I don't have a. Body and mind then I don't have any awareness. In sleep I don't have any awareness. When my body and mind wake up I am aware even of my sleep. Even Awareness seems experienced through mind
I was listening to the lectures on Srimad Bhagavad Geeta by revered Swamy Sarvapriyananda. Unfortunately all the lectures have been removed/ deleted. Like me many of the devotees may be interested to hear the lectures. Please upload the all lectures again Thanks Jai Sri Ramakrishna
Greetings to Swamy jee. He is one of the distinguished authority on vedanta. I adore his style and profound way of making understandable with ease. Heartiest regards 🌈🙏
Swamiji then what's about the awareness equation that *Pure mund = pure intellect = pure chitt*. I mean thru pure mind only we realize our true self or by direct method as you told 🌹🙏
Hari Om prabhu ji parnam, humble submission 🕉️ is an an symbolic (AKAAR) REPRESENTATION of BRAHMN very well defined in MANDUKYA UPNISHED which is a derivative result of meditation as already experienced by saints, also the point of reference for guidance. This symbol appears in the forehead in the process of meditation in a natural way. So can we call this phenomenon as an objective formation of SPIRITUAL AWARENESS? Respectful regards.
Pranaam swamiji - am looking for answers to two questions - when does praana and consciousness enter the foetus? how does prrana and consciousness/aatman work in the foetus in the womb? many thanks in advance. regards.

But if can not speak... realisation is also a different awareness and speak is also.. so it is not something that is staring with born baby or something... awareness by the physical process can only start. If consciousness is one universal then it is eaternal.

Another beautiful talk! Thank you Swami for expanding my heart. You always fill me with peace and calm. Truly love you!!!
This is the first time someone has put it words and I see a clear picture without doing excessive brain work to understand. Thank you

What a wonderfully simple example of oneness through the wave. It is not a wave, but water. No distinction remains thereafter. Thank you Swami ji 🙏🏽
Thank you for bringing this knowledge to the rest of the world.

Spotify. Podcast called vedanta talks. There's the bhagavat Gita, along with 3 other texts that you might wanna listen to..
They're available in soundcloud :) all of them
Why is the subject “I”? Why not “I am the object” reliant on the subject?
