    ABOUT VEDANTA
    Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions. ABOUT US Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

    Abhyas is the continuous effort for keeping the Chitta restrained it is fruitless to practice the restraint once in a blue moon it is to be done for long time without break with love and respect for the path

    Great questions by a young lady..to put it crisp answers, abhyasa is a practice, vairagya is the state. Sarvakarma pala tyaga is not practice it is also a state. Meaning, you develop vairagya by abhyasa and dont be distraught by results of abhyasa and believe in words of Bhagvan on sarvakarma palatyaga. Bhagwan is ever compassionate that is why he teaches mortals to follow one can follow. Mumukshu may appear as desire. But it is the word used to depict longing to get out.

    Science does show that the brain is a muscle & by challenging it daily builds neural networks ie if u r right handed, use ur left hand for a task etc. The Gita is all about focus to the divine but not at the expense of social duties. Lord Krishna also says at the death very last thought is what the next birth will be so in the case of those who have sharpened the mind & trained the brain to enter into that metaphysical level they will ascend to the high regions or moksha. For the rest of us it's a journey of discovery & wonders that should not be denied but to train the brain to release those deeper senses which allow the seer to witness that underlying wave like system flowing across everything.

    Right and wrong may exist only in the realm of Maya or Illusion but as long as we are within the net of Maya we have to play by its rules. Staying in denial does not help. To paraphrase an old limerick
    A Vedantin following the path of Neti (denial)
    Said “"Although pain isn’t real,
    When I sit on a pin
    and it punctures my skin
    I dislike what I fancy I feel.”

    Hello, I am trying to learn and use your videos, lectures and guidance as much as possible in my spiritual path, and I am not Indian and I do not speak Hindi. Although 80% of the questions and answers are in English, unfortunately, the use of Indian terms that are not translated into English is sometimes very high. Sometimes the question is not understandable for me at all because half of it is in Hindi. Is it possible to translate the questions into English after asking? It will be a great help for non-Indian people to use your tips and lectures as well. Many thanks

    Wow, dear Swami, did you notice that cynicism and separation in your discourse? Why do you need it? 😊 It's all yours, that perspective on the wrong path of other illusory characters in the movie of life...Does that perspective make the swami ego feel more righteous? Isn't it funny, when you catch yourself involved in dualism just as you are affirming it's illusory nature? 😂 Lovable, all of us, precisely as we appear to be. God is perfect!

      @@skyjuke2006 I'm very well, thank you ! I did see the words of the swami about people who do their new age thing as cynicism, yes! Do you think he meant it as a compliment maybe, or in some other way? Possible. He seemed to see unscrupulous people profiting from ... he called them the weak and suffering, I think, and he seemed really affected by that, as if it was some objective reality :) But hey... even as he knows that the world is a dream, he presents dream caracters as "the good" contrasted by "the bad" and that is really the perspective from within the dream, not from beyond. My question was for the swami, as a friendly hint, because he might not have noticed how he shifted level there. I think he might find it funny too!

    • @AuroraCarlson
      @AuroraCarlson 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@user-rb9vp1of4z When you dream that someone has done something terribly wrong towards another, something really bad... and wake up in the morning from that dream... do you not realize that it was you who was dreaming that dream, with the villain and victim, and the whole drama? There was no villain and victim, they were simply appearances on the screen of consciousness. Well, that's how it is with new age spirituality and anything else.
      Btw, I don't condemn them or anyone, it would be too funny, for it is my perspective that projects anything and also lables it good or bad. Why should I project someone as "bad" to create a "me" that is "good", or vice-versa? Is there not more freedom and honesty in accepting that i am nothing if I don't construct myself as an illusory slice of everything, compared to some other illusory slice? Right and wrong exists only in the realm of karma, and you can't blend karma and transcendence, it's either in the dream or out of it.
