    Would you say these DVDs are for advanced painter/drawer only or it could be useful for any level?

      I have Cesar’s portrait and figure drawing DVDs the information is applicable to any level of experience. Each technique is throughly explained so you can learn from what he is saying. Every step is shown and well filmed so you can see what he’s doing. The finished product is really well done.

    I didn't like his paintings for several years,..but after seeing his personality and hard work ethic,and most of his artwork...now I think Cesar Santos is awesome.

    Does he show his painting process in real time or time lapse?

    • @stephengreico2810
      @stephengreico2810 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its 16hrs so I'd assume real time

    • @jeffhreid
      @jeffhreid 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both. There is also a time lapse synopsis but the DVDs have each part in real time

    I understand he transfers a drawing to a canvas, and the drawing part is from another video using a photograph. I am wondering how he achieves the drawing. Briefly can you describe his process.

    • @jeffhreid
      @jeffhreid 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is an entire DVD set on the drawing. It is very well done. 4 DVDs 18 hours or so. Excellent companion to the figure painting DVDs

    Nice! Cesar's work is great; he's got a real studious approach but puts a lot of heart and soul into his work at the same time. If you've not seen Daniel Graves' 'Old World Portraiture' video, it's another really good one that's worth checking out.

    It would be more helpful if you showed some video excerpts to illustrate the features of the Santos instructionals you're reviewing. Just waving a DVD in front of the camera while you talk tells us nothing. The fair-use provision of copyright law makes explicit exceptions for reviews, so you're safely within the law to include short excerpts of his DVD in your review.

    so you can learn considerably from watching some one else paint/draw?

    • @JenniferMariePainting
      @JenniferMariePainting  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel like I learn a lot from watching others paint and draw. Though that is to say that I am also painting and drawing everyday myself. If I wasn't working myself for months I don't think I would get that much out of watching someone else work.

      @@JenniferMariePainting Fair enough...i understand, good answer!...not practical for me to go join an academic/classical atelier for four yrs right now...How about you and Ceaser colab on a dvd series that puts the viewer on a condensed four yr course from Bargue drawings to oil paintings...Id buy that one...is there anything like that out there? Do you know?

    Realism was a technique that was mastered at the renaissance. It is been done and there is a lot to learn from however it is been done and does not brings nothing new to contemporary ART. If I am going to study realism I will study Caravaggio not Cesar Santos money making copy cat

      Lmao. Study both Are masters

    • @jeffhreid
      @jeffhreid 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a rude statement. Not surprisingly it comes from a fan of “contemporary art” whatever you think that means. Cesar’s work is very contemporary. This DVD is to help people learn the technique to represent the figure in paint.

      Good luck studying Caravaggio's DVDs and instructional videos!
      With the old masters all we have is the finished result. We have no way to know their technique and workflow and how they arrived at that result. Nor do we have any way to know what they were thinking or why they made the choices they did WRT canvas preparation, underpainting, colors or brushes, etc.
