I've known Ceasar's work for less than a year in the art world, and I'm glad he's doing this for everyone. I can't afford it now, but I think it's pocket change to ask for considering all the people involved, and really most importantly this artist's time, and years of experienced skillfully condensed in 20 hours. If you want to learn and be good, practice is key, but a step in the right direction that saves you time is something to never turn down.
Cesar's is truly a master. His paintings are magnificent. I love his attitude toward art. He has a great sense of humor and seems to really enjoy sharing his knowledge through his videos. I would love to meet him sometime or visit his studio or a gallery that has a good sampling of his work.
This certainly ranks up there as one of the finest paintings I have ever seen. Extremely beautiful model and a seriously talented painter. I have been an artist my entire life, I am 49 years old and have been to many museums and I just want to congratulate Cesar. This is extraordinary!!
I love painting, but i'm very impatient so i rush and then i wonder why something doesn't turn out how i'd like. i wish i could be patient enough for layering
+pereztaastic The secret is to only paint until you feel the urge to rush. For me it's about an hour or so. By the end of the week, I have 7 + hours into a painting. I usually need about 15 hours to complete a 11 x 17 painting. There is nothing written that says you can only do a painting in one sitting. If you can't overcome the urge, then I suggest you switch to a smaller canvas, 6" x 8" so less time is spent on the background. Another suggestion is to switch mediums to watercolor where speed is required. Play classical music in the background. It will soothe and slow you down. Oil painting by it's very nature is time consuming. Da Vinci took his time with painting the Mona Lisa. According to legend, he spent four years on the portrait and still wasn't done.
+pereztaastic Our modern world imposes a frenetic pace and a sense of vague urgency about life which is a mental habit contrary to artistic work, especially in the beginning. Setting a calm workspace free from distractions and interruptions, work in 30-90 min blocks at first, enforce zero deadlines. So much is about creating a mindful focus, that is intent, but unaware of time. It's about developing new habits, not about waiting for some magical muse to inspire greatness. It becomes a give-and-take rhythm; give the work a dab of paint, then take a moment to see its effect, then repeat until done. Stop/take breaks as soon as you catch yourself applying paint without looking at the changes you're making.
+pereztaastic you are not alone it takes time to plan, but often when learning we do not know of the required steps that could help or the benefits of that exercise. Over time you will find the right steps for your desired results. However try not to get obsessed with any doctrine or methodology...but adopting one completely is a good start to "learn" and then adapt...but you need to be dedicated to learning and growing and doing... Shed yourself of insecurities and those who do not support you....and protect your mental state in your desire to grow and learn...share selectively...as most will not have any appreciation of the work required to get to accomplishing and finishing a painting and my be quick to offer "suggestions". This is where a good mentor or guide is helpful...but be humble to learn from them and to continuously explore. All the best.
+pereztaastic instagram.com/yannis_makridis_art/ most works of mine are finished usually within an hour, some of em around 2 hour max. Remember, it depends what kind of portrait you're up to. If you go for a realistic one, you may need more time than a more expressionist portrait. I am really bored of spending more than a day or two for the big ones, and I may need to work my patience as well, tho, its a matter of the way you painting in general and what way suits you better for the better results at the specific time you're painting :) It takes time to improve, be patient.
djangolad totally understand what you're getting at. I kind of actually agree. What about Gottfried Helnwein? He's much more a realist and more lax in terms of flamboyancy than Eloy. All fantastic painters never-the-less.
Mr. Santos, I made a comment on another page, channel or what ever: I just want you to know that bought your video and I'm just thrilled! I am a practicing artist for many years, but after six of seven days, I work completely different! I can't explain it to all but if you are serious, c couple of hundred bucks...will be pennies for what's to be learned from this man's teaching! He leaves out nothing, but you have to work! He TELLS you that there are no "MAGIC TRICKS"! YOU don't purchase because its easy; you purchase it to employ new principles of practice! Having thought art for many years, this video has chanced my approach forever! You will never get a better lesson for less, or more than 200. bucks! It will chance you and your work! Jimi...Thank you Cesar!
Thanks to Caesar I have drawn my portrait successfully. Im ready yo paint tomorrow. I have learned so much from this DVD. He is truly a master teacher. Well worth the price.
That Thumbnail Painting... It Catches everyone's eye. It have that Freezed Moment.... Can't stop Thinking about that painting....It makes my eyes more thrusty...
Inconcientemente la pintura me transportó a una bahia de la habana... Una bella muchacha un poco triste mirando a los lejos donde seguramente piensa.... encontraría una sonrisa.....impresionante trabajo amigo.
Absolute RULE, study anatomy! Although, some ten years ago, when I thought I could get away by drawing the figure directly for dynamic illustration, I thought wrong... You have mad skills, thank you for the reminder: Anatomy and basic shapes!
Quite inspirational. I'm at a low point in my life at the moment, dealing with failure and insecurity- both in my life and in my art. I hope someday I get out of this and make great art too 💕
Ivan - We're so glad you found this inspirational. To quote one of our other art video instructors/landscape painter, John Pototschnik, "Paint what you know, what you love, and what you're passionate about and there will be a market for it." Sending you lots of positive vibes. 💖
it's rare when I write comment coz I like observing and practice than talking , but just want to say thanks for all this videos ..... i learned alot from you .
detail doesn't matter.... important is to put spirit in it. it can be quick (impressionism), or long... it doens't need to look the same with figure mdel
It's really difficult to express just how insanely lucky people are these days that artists of Cesar's standard are freely and generously sharing their hard earned skills and knowledge with the world, regardless of our geographic location.
Hey Sylmarmusic...your ignorance is shining brightly, if you have nothing constructive to say then keep your mouth shut, better letting people think your a jerk, rather than opening your yap and proving it.
Sorry Sylmarmusic, don't know how that ended up getting attached to your comment, actually not sure what I was looking at lol, please accept my apologies
Beautiful work, you are flipping through what looks like two different books in this video....would mind sharing the titles of those books Thank you Cesar for sharing your talent.
I am a Cesar fan, his work, communications style...he is awesome. Even if I could afford the DVD I don't even have a DVD player anymore. Seems it is time to find a digital means to distribute and lower the price. This is old school out of date means of distributing instructional materials.
All of our videos are available in DVD and digital downloads. You can find this one here: streamlineartvideo.com/products/cesar-santos-secrets-of-portrait-painting.
Your talent is wonderful. l like to portrait painting.but l have a basic knowledge.l like to see your vedios and thanks sharing this vedio.God bless you!
I use acrylic in a completely different style, that is mostly dry brush. In terms of touching the canvas as little as possible, I am an absolute minimalist.

It would take me 35,000 years to learn to paint like him. Genial!
since your comment is from 2 years ago, it's now only 34,998 years to go!
With that mentality you could never !
@@bestestinventions7032 34,996 yrs to go!
34,995 years to go!!!
Im making progress

+pereztaastic You need to work on that :) but some artists work fast, not being patient at all, and that's okay too

wow. ive never seen a better portrait artist in my life. cesar is incredibe. michaelangelo incredible
then yo ass need to check out Eloy Morales. guy is a god among men.
Michaelangelo?...hahahahahahaha
Eloy is okay but I think show pony when I look at his work .Cesar is more human, quieter, contemplative, mature.
djangolad totally understand what you're getting at. I kind of actually agree.
What about Gottfried Helnwein? He's much more a realist and more lax in terms of flamboyancy than Eloy.

I prefer Graydon Parrish and pino daeni they are classical gods

The narrator makes me feel like I'm fine dining at a high-class French restaurant
yes including the Jazz piano sound
I needed that belly laugh.
WITH RED WINE.
Without the French accent...? Lol. I feel it
Thanks to Caesar I have drawn my portrait successfully. Im ready yo paint tomorrow. I have learned so much from this DVD. He is truly a master teacher. Well worth the price.

It's nice to see someone painting with a renaissance like style instead of puking over a canvas and calling it art
If there's a market for it....puke on canvas isn't my taste either. Now THIS work - ❤
Interestingly, the paints he uses are blended from his own puke.
Inconcientemente la pintura me transportó a una bahia de la habana... Una bella muchacha un poco triste mirando a los lejos donde seguramente piensa.... encontraría una sonrisa.....impresionante trabajo amigo.
You are an AMAZING painter!! Thank you so much for sharing your talent!!
That portrait is so gorgeous and well done. I love her expression.
BROOO THIS IS THE MOST REALISTIC PAINTING IVE EVER SEEN!
Absolute RULE, study anatomy! Although, some ten years ago, when I thought I could get away by drawing the figure directly for dynamic illustration, I thought wrong... You have mad skills, thank you for the reminder: Anatomy and basic shapes!

Hey Sylmarmusic...your ignorance is shining brightly, if you have nothing constructive to say then keep your mouth shut, better letting people think your a jerk, rather than opening your yap and proving it.
Maybe that was meant for Metacarpaccio?
Sorry Sylmarmusic, don't know how that ended up getting attached to your comment, actually not sure what I was looking at lol, please accept my apologies
