This video is amazing and well thought out. This information can help a lot of businesses. If you have never heard about “Kanban” you would never find this great video. Maybe add “barcodes for dummies” or “barcode 101” in the video title so people can find it better on TH-cam. Keep up the great work.

2 second improvement - keep the scanner always on and in a fixed position next to the laptop on the forklift so that one does not have to constantly pick up the scanner. Easily shave off five seconds per scan.

Thank you for this gift, really informative video.
I tried doing the tab and carriage return but it wasn't working... I finally figured out that my scanner does not have the ability to read ascii. I ordered a scanner with the ability to read ascii and it works just like you demonstrated in this video.
Also, I figured out that you can create a single barcode that will scan in the part#, tab, scan in quantity, carriage return... So you only have to dink a Kanban card once, a downside is that the barcode will be longer.
So for part# Elbow with a quantity of 25 you'd input this:
    (asterisk)Elbow$I25$M(asterisk)
Thank you again Lukas and Paul.

Lukas, Paul great video, we’ve used barcodes for a few years now, but the tips you’ve just shown for tabbing and entering automatically have just revolutionised our stock entry process (or at least it will do as soon as I get in to work this morning!)

You saved my day, thank you!
My team has to fill out a Excel to get some KPI's that we can't get out of SAP.
Now i designed a Form in Excel and a Makro to fill the Data it in a Table and reset the Form after this.
With your Barcode Tipps i created a A3 Sheet with Barcodes where you can take the right data and hop in the next box.
    - Saving a lot of Time (75-85%) of my Team
    - Saving my Time (90%) (The Only thing i have to do now is open the Excle und hit the KPI Dashboard, no Checking of Data, no adjustments on the Pivot. Before this i had to proof all Data for wrong Entrys)
    - No Mistakes Possible (Created Rules in the Boxes, you cant put a Number in a Checkbox where you need do fill in witch kind of Drum it is)
    Have a great day :)

    Thanks Lukas.
Correct me if I am wrong, but not every scanner is capable of reading QR codes (2D). The lower end (or older) scanners are usually only able to read 1D, which is what the 3of9 font is going to generate. You will likely need to buy a higher end scanner to also read 2D barcodes reliably.

I have a dilemma using the special characters in the barcode, and I cannot find a solution. everything works as it should when using excel on my desktop. However im using OneDrive for my excel workbook. When I scan the barcodes with special characters it will not tab correctly from cell to cell. the first scan will tab correctly from cell A to Cell B. But the next scan will not drop down into Cell A in the second column, it drops straight down into Cell B.

Hi Paul if you ban phones how do the employees scan the QR code you have all round the facility do you have a work iPhone or something

    • @paul-akers
      @paul-akers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Simon Harte Well we don’t ban phones we just get our people to understand that the use of their phones for personal things during worktime is stealing from the company and from our customers. All of our people have their phones on them and they use them all the time for work! We are not a company of rules we are a company that operates based on a philosophy of serving the customer and respecting them.
