Also have the 955. Made the upgrade from fenix 6 due to better senzors and gps. Sellers for me: Gps accuracy is a lot better + reduced weight + better HR (and HRV and sleep) due to superior sensors. Cons: price..but it is worth it. P.s. I disabled the touchscreen on day 1

Hi! I went from 945 to 955.. the jump is remarkable as sensors and then the touchscreen is fantastic!
Love mine. Didn’t bother getting the Solar version though. Most accurate watch I’ve ever owned. From the race predictions to HR readings to GPS to even how my body is reacting to training with training readiness and HRV readings I find this watch is incredible. If I would have liked one feature though I think wireless charging would have been nice at this price point.

The only thing that bugs me about the non-Solar is the size of the bezels. I know the bezel is the same on the solar, it just has a solar panel across some of it, but it just makes it seem less. I otherwise agree solar is pretty pointless in northern Europe at least.
@@dom_learyI agree. The look of the solar is better imo, but it doesn't add much battery in my use case
I love my 955 solar. I have previous experiences with various models Forerunner 45 and 935 to name two. I was looking at the Fenix 7 but the 955 had the better features on it for half the price. Don’t get me wrong I know it’s still expensive but it’s competitively priced for what you get on it. I’m doing a ultra next year so my main considerations were battery life and maps( I have a habit of getting lost!).😂

Any issues with durability? Torn between the fenix and the forerunner. Doing mostly outdoor sports and fishing, where I need the map functionality.

Is there way to look back and see what battery precentage you had left AFTER an activity ?? Ive a 100k coming up. Im just not sure if the battery will last. I did 63km a few months ago, the battery lasted but not sure how much i had left. The 100km race will take about 15- 16hrs. Would it last that long on the 955???
Ive the 965 but the Amoled display is killing the battery, ive been looking at this would you recommend? Also its it a MIP display
I currently have the FR945 & love it. Only downside is the battery doesn’t seem to last long. Having to charge it every other day, not sure if that’s just average tho.
Thanks for the great video. I enjoyed your more practical approach. I watched DCRainmaker for more of the techy stuff. So, I’m down to the 255 or 955. I’m an old man now , so being able to read the watch on the fly during a run is a huge consideration. Kind of fiddlely pulling out the reading glasses mid run. LOL. So what watch face is easier to read/has a bigger stopwatch face? Thank you.
I agree FR 255 is the best value at the moment. Software wise does almost everything FR 955 does except the full maps (FR 255 has bread crumps style course tracking). I don't think touchscreen is really relevant except on working with the map on FR 955. Solar is also pretty overrated. Other reviewers did not find solar extending battery significantly enough.

I agree that touchscreen is not for me. In my very first half marathon, I was wearing a touchscreen style watch and it was raining. About halfway through, it stopped recording in outdoor run mode and when I realized it and tried to start it again, it started in treadmill mode. Ughhhh!

Great video. I don't actually like touch screen on running watches, not practical when you've got sweaty hands or are wearing gloves.

In the same boat!. Running an ultra soon and my watch tends to run out around 6hrs/55k and you can't replace the batteries :/
I want to upgrade my 245 music because I can only do one 1.5 hour run (with music) before I need to charge it again. I'm now on the fence between the 955, fenix and epix because I don't know how much the extra weight of the premium watches would bug me during runs but I think the fenix/epic would feel more special. I know I'd get slightly more duration with the fenix but it's actually not that much when listening to music according to specs.
Good to see a non-spec review and a review which wasn't made within 24 hours of receiving the watch, as most of them seem to be. I guess youtubers were trying to ride the wave of initial interest but many didn't follow up with what it felt like to live with the watch.
Can't speak for the difference between an Epix and a 955 for weight, but can say I barely notice the Epix during a run. Hope that helps.

@@sagadg1 thanks - I did have a chance to see one in a store this week and it's actually way lighter than I was expecting. They still wouldn't turn it on though so I've not been swept away with the brilliant screen. I think sensible me is winning out and saving the money with the 955.
How accurate is pace/distance and can I disable the touch screen for when running ?
I have the 245 music, looking at he 255 music for an upgrade, I have noticed this is now only £80 more than the 255 music in a sale price, would anyone recommend getting this or stay with the 255 upgrade
