      Why the hate?
Because people wanted a performance and style beast that cost the same as a GT86
A hater always starts off being unrealistic
You cant expect a luxury car (Supra is a reskinned BMW Z) to cost the same as a GT86
And honestly for what you get its pretty affordable even though its way more expensive than a GT86

Why? Like I said because of the hype. Everybody wanted it to be a hyper car. The first generation was a legit competitor to the Ferrari and Lambo counterparts. Once it was announced V6, media and people shit on it for no reason. Media grudgingly agreed it was a great car but liked to point out what it wasn’t instead of what it was. Not sure why you’re so angry. The Honda Civic Type R has a better interior than the NSX, which to me is a huge problem. If you are gonna charge super car prices, even if it’s an entry level price, the interior should be top of the line. When I say top of the line, I mean it should be in line with the Audi R8, Mercedes Amg GTR, Porsche 911…yet it’s not even the best at Honda. Yes, hype killed the Nsx. Along with the fact that the B58 Engines in the Mark 5 A90 was tested by Toyota which all faulty parts was shipped back to BMW!
The BMW engineers for that engine had a headache after all the parts that was faulty was shipped back to them......
Toyota didn't just "slap their name on their vehicle called it a day". There's a lot than that too that!
Toyota couldn't just "make the vehicle and engine on their own" due to the fact that they had no platform nor tools and die to make a Straight 6 from 0!
If Toyota did "make the Supra A90 MK5 on their own" , the price tag would be in the range of the Nissan GTR and Honda NSX which those are SELLING POORLY .
Toyota, wanted to stick to making the Supra MK5 A90 attainable to the masses. Not unattainable to the masses.
      Period.
Also, MK4 A80 Supra, sold POORLY in the 1990s. Newsflash.
And the Lexus LFA(which Lexuses are from Toyota), that SOLD POORLY which Toyota LOST MONEY on that also.

Great stuff guys. My thoughts from a guy who did love BMW's (yes, used to). 320i, 318i, 325i, 325xi, 335i, 135is M, 535i (sedan and wagon)...N54's and 55's. Lovely to Drive but the maintenance is ridiculous. Example...my wife's latest bought new started leaking oil heavily at 48,000 miles. Now, as a BMW enthusiast, I was fully aware of all the oil leaking, electronics issues, plastic parts under hood the crack and break, headliner/a-b pillar interior coverings that fall apart, motor mounts that wear out (What???)...yes, they wear out and the engine actually will sink slightly which causes issues. Back to the topic, Toyota guys do not want a heavy maintenance demanded engine (call it unreliable). Just my 2 cents

@@abuali4680 the mk4 was rivaling the Z in its time also and was even in the same class as it also(since both the mk4 and z were both GT cars in that time)while the 34 was a sportscar in its time in a class separate from the mk4. Yes their stats we're similar but that doesn't change that they were both in separate classes from each other. All that happened was that the gtr went from a sportscar to a supercar while the Z went from a gt to a sportscar. Same thing happened to the mk5 since that same shift had happened to the Z. So from the get go toyo wasn't even planning on ever putting the mk5 against the GTR since that would be a massive lead over what they put the last 2 gens against the Z(mk3 was also going against the Z aswell). They didn't downgrade, they just switched the supras classes so that it could still go against the Z like the last gens did and also being a affordable tuner car aswell(which is becoming well more clear with tge amount of modded mk5s going around)unlike whats going down with thw gtr. Also, lets not forget that the Z is using a well over decade old chassis(that's modified) + a 5 year+ old ttV6 so i wouldn't get my hopes up at all,vs the mk5 thats newer and using a updated and has a good motor/trans combo with it aswell. Japanese or not theres no hiding that they're using decade old stuff vs a car with a new chassis and etc going along with it. Now we can't say either cars better yet since one of them isn't out yet/not knowing the stats of it either so time will tell whether or not its better or not.
