- United invited me to try out their new Polaris Business Class on their B777-300/ER. Opinion and views are my own.
I flew United new B777-300/ER from Hong Kong to San Francisco. I also visited the United Arrivals Lounge and the new United Polaris Lounge at SFO.

I flew out of San Francisco to India just a few days after this video came out. My flight was delayed almost all day, was in the Polaris lounge for most of it. I met Wendy, she made me a paper plane also! Wonderful experience, made the long delay much better. Thank you!
I fly out of SFO to Taiwan at least two times a year, but I have only had the pleasure of the poor man's United lounge. Maybe I will receive a pass from United on my next trip in February? Merry Christmas and a happy New year of traveling with the friendly staff of United Airlines.

@Wendy Smith & @Sam Chui: When will the Polaris Lounges re-open and when will the full Polaris dinning service return on flights? I know that the lounges have been closed due to Covid and the dinning service has been changed to boxed meals. I have several trips scheduled this year and I am planning on flying Polaris if the full service is open. Traveling to Paris & Rome in November. Canceling a trip to Tahiti because the islands are close to outside vacation travelers but I'm planning other trips. Thanks your your help.

Sam, the minute you walked onto the airplane United POLARIS, you can see the happiness and memories on your face!!! I like to watch your video’s, but this is special because you always talk about how your mom and dad took you on your first flight on United and now that your a grown man, your still so happy to be flying on United, good for you!! I can also second the Polaris bedding being absolutely comfortable - I flew on the old First Class seats but the bedding made it super comfortable, and it was clearly superior to the paltry bedding I had received on Asiana Business Smartium.
United polaris is awesome, the sundaes are good, the meals are good, and I got the bedding was amazing. It made my whole travel experience better. Keep it up united!
It is great to see United advertise it's unique business class. Have been flying United for more than 30 years, still my most favorite airline. It takes very good care of its loyal frequent flyer. Thanks United.

I am a loyal flyer of United airlines since 1988 never had any issue, Love you United
Elie Nasrallah United is trash. Most other airlines like Delta, Southwest, JetBlue, and Alaska, are better! United is also trash when flying internationally, unless it’s in business, where it’s mediocre.

Great upload!!! Back in the 80s, 90s, United was my airline for Trans Asia Pacific trips including Hong Kong. Thanks to United, I was able to fly into the old Kai Tak airport with its world famous checkerboard approach via the 747s. I too love Hong Kong with Chek Lap Kok Airport.

This video is excellent, and has me a little choked up. I use to make this journey from EWR to HKG three times a year, but now with Covid-19 things are on hold. United is an awesome airline, and I think about all the wonderful employees who make it so! Pray they all hang in there until this pandemic passes. Stay strong!

Hey Sam, I really liked your sped up portion of the take off. Some spend 5 minutes showing the take off which is nuts, and some don’t show it at all which makes me feel like I’m missing out. Yours was just right, showed it without me getting bored.
My mom was a flight attendant for United and she was based out of Hong Kong too because she loved the place so much

I was just at SFO spotting planes and seen a lot of the United 777-300s. I love the sound of that Ge90 start up 👌🏼. Great vid Sam! I hope to see you one day in my travels!

I work with United Airlines in 2018 and it's actually awesome.. ! Best days ... it's very challenging especially if there is IROPS and if pax called in to book a first class ticket using miles and cash.. weew those days..

Wow, this is a great vlog, Sam! I love those gel pillows, too! This video reminds me of the old UA844/845 TPE-SFO (now it's called UA871/872) which I take alot. Yes, UA seems to have the right product with Polaris. I'm not a fan of those bulky tin boxes, though. Like you, I also have a soft heart for United. Yeah, I miss the 747-400 already! I remember riding them (when they still had their old colorful livery) into Kai Tak passing all those apartment buildings. I could even see people hanging their clothes on the balconies as the plane whizzed by! Haha! But the approaches over the bay was always dramatic! Btw, on approach into SFO, did you ever notice the words FOSTER CITY spelled out in big letters on the ground as the plane banks to the left? United Airlines is making progress and I sincerely wish Oscar Munoz and the UA family all the very best! I know haters are gonna hate, but I don't care. Thanks again for a great vlog, Sam!! Well with such a biased view you will never believe. I have a lot of fond memory of United and they are always special because my love of aviation started and I had a GREAT flight. Period.

This video really calls back my memories, when UA has a relatively big presence in HK. You could find 7+ UA flights in HKG daily. It’s also my mum who brought me into the passion of aviation. Haven’t flown United since my mum left UA(pre-merger) ten years ago. I’m still jealous that she got the chance to fly the 747SP across the Pacific XD

Sam, you take after me. i fly United all the time. I've been visiting the cockpit since 1985. I love Channel 9. In fact pilots have put it on because of me. I make friends with the flight attendants as well & it's not unusual for me to fly with a pilot/flight attendant I've flown with before. To me, each flight is an experience and some flights stand out more than others like when I was on the final JFK-SFO flight in 2015. Keep making your videos. I enjoy watching!

Man that was an awesome video, thank you very much. I'm always nervous when experienced flyers fly North American carriers and your comparing to the likes of Cathay, Singapore and Emierates. I know because it's always going to be tough but when they can compete with those guys not really beat but when they can compete... it's good !

Hi Sam, excellent video!!! I am so happy you did a review of United's Polaris service. They're a great airline which doesn't get enough credit for all the improvements they've been making to their product and service. United also has some wonderful employees like the FA on your flight. I am also so happy to see United and Delta with a comparative product to the worlds bet airlines.

Recently flew united from Shanghai to San Francisco and back. I would say the cabin service is just so so, but the onboard entertainment system is too notch. Great value for frequent travelers between China and USA
Sam, great video. I was fortunate to travel on UA's first Polaris flight from HKG to SFO in 2016, and I must say the service has improved in the two years since it has launched.

I live in the Denver area, so I pretty much fly United. I have always had trouble sleeping on planes even in 1st class. However I've made a couple long international flights in Polaris Class and have slept like a baby. I love Polaris. You're right about the bedding.
I've even made a couple domestic flights where the domestic 1st class is in a Polaris class converted plane. That's always nice.
I don't think the SFO lounge had been converted to The Polaris lounge yet when I flew out of SFO to Buenos Aires in January. I'm looking forward to all the United lounges getting converted.
Not all lounges will be converted to Polaris, just the main US hubs and key international destinations for now (Narita, London Heathrow, Hong Kong)
