    We have a clear glass shower door and 15 years later still really like it. Yes, there is soap scum and hard water spots. Yes it does have to be cleaned more often. But it is so pretty, it does make the room look larger, so the extra cleaning is worth it.

    Absolutely key to get the shower head high enough. I'm only 5'10" or so but have battles some terrible showers. Never heard of a short 5' friend saying the shower head to too high. On top of the standard being too low to start with, so many modern heads (like yours) are a heck of a lot longer than the old 1950 gym locker room sprayer.

    Looking great! I have a quick comment which I wish I'd have thought of back when you were roughing in the plumbing. My entire family is tall, particularly my in-laws. My 6'7" father in law decided when building a new guest shower that he'd mount the shower head up nice and high (because we're all tall right?). Well an issue that showed itself quickly was when I used the shower (I'm 6'3"), the shower head was mounted so much higher than the manufacturer intended, the shower spray pattern was much wider by the time it hit my body that literally half the water wouldn't touch me. I can't imagine someone 5'8" or shorter showering in there without having to dance around just to get a few streams of water to hit them. I'm with you 100% I love the hand shower and use it extensively, so it's not a huge deal, but I wonder if you'll have a similar issue here because the shower head was mounted so high and the spray pattern is typically fixed (at least as far as how wide it will get).

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've already ran it, no issue as the pattern is nice and tight.

    I was wondering why you didn't run a bead of silicone on the side rails (as you did on the bottom) before you screwed them in. That is, in addition to the bead you ran on the outside. The reason I asked is that, over time, the bead deteriorates and it leaks. Yes, I know you can redo that bead, but it's a pain to do that. We had a problem with our shower doors as a result. Also, I was glad that, when you ran the bead under the bottom rail you ran it also against the wall and not just on the straight rail. That's where we had a failure as well.

    Did you put a dab of silicone on the holes you drilled in the tile before inserting your screws? I know you are a fan of over doing things as am I and that's what I would have done.
    Hand sprayers are nice for cleaning showers also. I had came up with the idea to have one for the toilet so I didn't need to use a brush and cleaner as much. Could not figure out away for the longest time since toilets have a unique connection port. Finally came across a product. I don't use it for its intended purpose but it's great for cleaning the toilet. Search for diaper sprayer or bidet sprayer on amazon. Looking forward to the rolling closet build.

      Already taking care of that with my HVAC installer. You can literally turn on the bathroom vent fans or the microwave fan and open the outside door, it slings open due to the vacuum. More air intake is coming!

    Why isn't the shower wall against the wall

      Because that was wasted space we are going to use for a slim, but deep slid out linen closet.

      Wasted space, didn't need to make the shower bigger. I've talked about it a few times, I'm making a pull out linen closet in that space.

    My guess about your move in date will not be realized. I am way off the date. Best of luck anyway.
