  • This bin hasn't been properly used for a while. I have been collecting flooring parts since 2018 and am glad to finally finish this monster transformation. It's now like a corn crib, but more enclosed.

    Great idea... gonna have a fan on it to blow air up thru the ear corn to keep it in shape? It'll be interesting to see how you get it started emptying and how well it'll handle emptying out. Figure you'll be in there with a scoop quite a bit helping it along and removing floor covers as needed, eh?

    Jacob I’m might be wrong but you said ear corn in this bin you got the right idea but your conveyor might not be wide enough for the ear to fall into it we used and 25 inch wide hay grain elevator so when the bin fills up it will fall into it with out caving out just saying I hope you’re plan works well you put a lot of hard work into it keep smiling

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought about using one of the new idea elevators I bought, for the floor. The little aluminum won out because of ease to maneuver into place and the modifications were simpler. Also, I won't have to worry about carrying more corn than whatever elevator is outside can handle.

  • @ghorner11
    @ghorner11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you realize you placed the concrete blocks on their weak side? They have their strength with the holes running vertical. They're more apt to collapse under weight the way you placed them.

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's how the Brock manual says to place them to hinder air flow the least. I'm not wild about the blocks, but I like that they can't rust.

  • @briandubach8307

    what is going to keep the pieces covering the elevator in place? Would be concerned with ear corn falling a distance, that it will bounce them all over the place

    • @boehmfarm4276

      The covers are just laying there. I still have to workout a door above the elevator for starting a full bin.

  • @anderleof
    @anderleof ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see any way that ear corn will "flow" out of the bin. There could be a lot of weight on the elevator, but more likely, the ear corn will be jammed up against itself and never even make it to the elevator. I guess time will tell.

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The covers over the elevator will keep corn off the elevator. I'll start from one side and work my way across unloading.

    • @57fitter
      @57fitter ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@boehmfarm4276 Here's the comment I've been looking for. If you fill the bin enough to cover the door,how will you get to the elevator inside to get started removing corn? If you leave the first 10 or 12 inches open,you might possibly have a log jam OR no flow, with no way to assist the flow. I'm not trying to be difficult,just imagining it was me doing this.AND thanks for doing this! I wanted to do this as a kid,but the scoop shovel always won out.
