Of all things in this video that struck me, it was the watch. The most gorgeous watch I ever saw on a man was while I was at an airport. This watch was so elegant that I had to ask about it, complimenting it as I asked. He said thank you very much. I thought I might get one, or at least one similar for my husband and asked where he got it. "Walmart." He had a great smile. And....I did get it for my husband.
I‘m getting closer to my 40s and let me tell you that a man of my age also appreciates your type of content. For 6 years I’m working in the middle management of a company that’s 275 years old. I’ve noticed a lack in style ever since all of us returned to the office after Covid. Watching your videos to get a bit of a fresh wind to my style was very satisfying. Thank you and keep up with your good work. Cheering for you from France
As a 16 year old, your videos have helped me figure out the sort of man I want to strive to become. Great quality and ideas as always! Keep up the fantastic work and cheers from Italy.
Good Sir, I applaud you on your grasp of the English language, you use it better by far than many native speakers seem to be capable of doing. Your parents must also be applauded for raising you to become the gentleman you very clearly are on the path to becoming. My advice to you, as a man who’s always strived to be a gentleman in thought, speech, and action: Know that you, like everyone else in existence, are human-we all fail, men and women alike. You will have your heart utterly shattered at some point in your life, more likely by a woman than anything else. This is natural, and as catastrophic as it is in the moment-it is both formative and survivable. You will find a vast amount of information and advice from others that does you no good whatsoever-propaganda, you could call it. Let me tell you here and now, you must choose your own path in this life, at the end of the day, you are inseparably linked to your own mind and your own thoughts. Always be a man that can be at home in his own mind, separate from the pressures and influences of those that you cannot be certain of them having your best interests at heart when they speak with you. Cultivate a small, but trustworthy number of friends around you, but always know that they are human and fallible as well. The loss of a brother or best friend can be at least as destructive to your heart as that of any woman, so steel your heart and mind for this as well, it will happen, sooner rather than later. A woman should *never* be your focus in life. However beautiful, kind, loving or supportive of you she may be, she is still human, like anyone else, and she will be just as flawed, as are all of us. I’ll leave you with this poem from the American poet, Max Ehrmann, it’s been a great comfort to me over the years, I hope it has some value for you as well: DESIDERATA Go placidly amid the noise & haste, & remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly & clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. 🌿 Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain & bitter; for always there will be greater & lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. 🌿 Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. 🌿 Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. 🌿 Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue & loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. 🌿 You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees & the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. 🌿 Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. 🌿 With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy 🌿🌿 ~Max Ehrmann, 1927
My day job is sales. This year, I began to think of what I wear to work like my uniform, paying attention to details, the fit, conscious effort to always present an impeccable professional image no matter what. My sales have noticeably increased, I'm making connections. I feel like I've gone from being an average grunt in the trenches to a Fighter Ace. Details matter guys. Wear the right clothes for your body type. You'd be amazed what that'll do for your mindset and performance. You'll believe in yourself more.
I'm 17. It sounds absurd, but after seeing a movie (Kingsman) I began to notice that my generation is quite lost and confused with what it means to be a man. I very much appreciate the information you provide us online, thank you. /Cheers from Mexico.
I am 15 years old and l live in Greece, l love art, fashion and every better thing in life. I feel alone as there are not that many people around me who can understand me. I hide my personality as l will be made fun of for being different. However, knowing that people like you and like the ones in the comments exist, give me hope that there are still others like me and that someday l will be more able to be my self, thank you sir
There are more people like yourself out there than you might imagine. I started this channel to build a community of like-minded men, and I'm glad to have you here!
16 year old here. I can relate, I also love old movies, old music, and things that aren't really common among people our age these days, and I don't really share it with others either
"Imagining your life as art" that is such a god damn good way of putting it, even though I have always thought very similarly to this video (secretly) I never thought to articulate it that way. Amazing video that is actually perfect for the Literally Me generation(s)
Archibald Leach...to...Cary Grant. You're right...Visualize the life you want..and model your personal life to fit that life. What's that old adage?..."You've got to fit in to get in". You must make yourself ready for the life you want. All of this demands your commitment and dedicated action. I write this...as I'm making my own changes to live the life I want. And...I'm 70. It never really ends...it is the journey.
Always take a moment before you react to think about how you want your character to act. I think our characters, who we strive to become, are more careful and less reactionary than we are. This pause and discipline leads us to become better men.
Loving theses videos on how to be a more well-rounded man you've been doing lately. It's a great breath of fresh air from the typical "manosphere" content on TH-cam!
I find that being open to reinventing yourself from time to time ads more color and texture to your life. And keeps you young. I learn everyday from young and old people alike. Never give up a child-like curiosity. I’ve really enjoyed your videos, you have a very sound head on your shoulders.
I'm so happy I found your videos! I'm 78 years old and a lady but I love listening to your great advice and, besides, you are eye candy, too! You, go, James!!!!!! Train those sloppy people out there!!!!!!
To answer your question of what we are currently focusing on... I'm trying (more like struggling) lately to avoid getting in a rut of routines (be it work, family/friend obligations, daily errands, cleaning/organizing/paperwork/bills) and finding time to smell the roses. Some of my roadblocks can be procrastination or feeling like I have to get all of the To-Do list out of the way first before I can take the time to smell the roses. But the To-Do list never seems to have an ending.. which in reality it won't. There will always be something new that pops up. Would love to see some tips and strategies video on this area. In the movie Shawshank Redemption there's the line, "I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living, or get busy dying." Lately I feel I've lost the get busy living part. Not losing sight of it per se, but struggling to have time for it with so many obligations. There's a line in the Lord of Rings in which Bilbo tells Gandalf, “I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.” That's how I'm feeling of late.
What I find to be more effective than to do lists is to schedule my time. So I set aside time in the week to work and do whatever must be done, but also dedicated time to have fun. So that way I always give myself the chance to smell the roses without feeling guilty about it
Good advice, as usual. As for goals, I would like to lose quite a lot of fat and I do want to read more. Some things I want to *continue* doing are doing my skincare every morning and evening, drawing, and dressing sharp especially when I go out almost anywhere. Right now, in particular, I am focused on hopefully graduating soon. Well, it's always a pleasure!
You are so right. I'm 71 and I've based my life on Cary Grant with a little Jerry Lewis mixed in. And yes dressing the part it put you there. Thanks for putting the message out there
Great perspective and content. Might I suggest a series on how set up an apartment for a gentleman along with what kind of activities should be done there.
I'm currently working on this myself because I moved into a new apartment a week ago and I'm furnishing it from scratch. So I will definitely make some content about this as it starts coming together!
Love your videos James! I have always applied gentlemanly attributes in my life, having a chanel l can zone out in that has the same mindset as my own is truly refreshing! Thank you mate!
Great advice. Keep up the good work. You are so right style is key. Love your advice on Rituals have quite a few rituals . And life is a journey. I never thought about it before but I have always tried to be the main character. Thanks. cheers Ron

Books probably say the stripes and the herringbone work. But, imho the stripes should be of a different gauge (I'll go with broader) from the jacket pattern. In other words, I feel this is too much busyness overall. But that a middle segue between the solid tie and the herringbone, would be with a shirt with somewhat broader stripes.
Suit supply was amazing btw! Signed up for their custom made program. Picking up my jacket after alterations in a week👌 Do u have any personal recs for pockets squares and ties?
Great work! If you're asking about styles, I find knit ties in solid colors and plain linen pocket squares with border edges to be the most versatile. Suit Supply is also great for these, but it can be expensive. Tie Bar is a good inexpensive resource
Biggest area of current focus is my body - I’m probably in better shape than the average 35 year old man, to be fair, but I’m looking to go completely Beast Mode and hit the highest peak of all-round health and fitness of my life.
Now I'm trying to be more confident. See, I have a huge problem with it for example I'm scare of little conversations and meeting new people seem impossible for me. I'm actually don't know what to do with this, I tried many metodics, but nothing works for me. Although in my 15 I'm pretty confident to put on a suit or dress shoes, I am a big fan of ties (I have big collection of about 30 or more), but I don't know what to do with hands during a conversation (as an example).
I just discovered you, but great quality content, and amazing delivery man. Keep it up - Ill follow your progress and apply some tips :) Let me also answer your question then: I moved to Italy recently (well 1 year ago) with my wife and kids, after having built my life and whole new identity in Spain (I am originally Dutch). Now Im looking to (re)build a group of friends, but with interest and passions that I have now developed. Looking to create a club of likeminded people around investing/ starting business, building treehouses for our kids and planning long cycling trips. Main focus: male companionship.
I'm 32 fresh out a toxic relationship with a bipolar/borderline partner. I like the idea of a fresh start and upscaled style, but my personality is more laid back and I look at my home and job as both ankleweights and a starting point for getting back out there before I get much older. I am willing to change, and have, but am timid about major life decisions at the moment, and hate the idea of dating and most experiences just reinforce that opinion.
to explain it a bit more, usually in jazz you´ll never heard a sax playing while there is a singer singing, the sax poses a bit like the second vocal, same as the singer never sings when the sax is playing. i dont mean it in a bad way, i really fuckin love jazz and sax too, its just that i had to turn captions on to actually hear what you were saying in that part of the video. the piano is great, but for next time, dont use the sax
To mine imaginary best of my self i want to improve enveromental buisnes, helping to save the planet but non been a hippie whit no style or etiquet and your chanel helps me to much to refine miself and be a genttleman in this modern life.
It's important not to go into cartoon mode. I've seen too many young men playing at being James Bond. We need to drill down to the real character not just the surface image.
Of all things in this video that struck me, it was the watch. The most gorgeous watch I ever saw on a man was while I was at an airport. This is an excellent video. I love the reference to King Solomon, and I think we do well to think of ourselves as characters: What traits do we have? What traits do we long to have? What adversity holds us back? And how do we overcome that adversity as we proceed on our quest to become the men we long to be?
It’s a very valuable perspective to take!
Love this video, high quality. Incidentally it is for precisely this reason that I am attracted to the style videos: the symbolic power our appearance and style has to positively influence our minds and refine our character. Benefitting everyone around us. Wonderful to have insight into your ‘why’ and your dream. Bravo!

Very good points. James, In the movie staring yourself who would you have as the director?
The music plays a bigger role than your words.
Great advices gentlemen!
Great video, thanks :) would you mind giving me info about the music? Really enjoyed it
What kind of music is used in this video?, I love it!
I love your videos, thank you.
Very inspiring
oh yes this is the heaven of youtube, i've founded it 😮
I'm 32 fresh out a toxic relationship with a bipolar/borderline partner.
Fitness and diet.
Gonna fit into that 007 suit and tie. :)
What type of Jazz is in the background?
Inspiring...TY
I love these video series, but I gotta say your BGM around the "why" section of this video was very distracting. 😄
I got a lot out of this video, thanks
FYI The saxophone and music is drowning your audio out.
I'm still experimenting with the levels but a couple of people have said that so I will turn it down in future videos
Good video.
Please keep it up
A Brilliant vid mine, is a Business. but clothes and accessories are still up there
Good luck with the business, sir!
1:25 brother i love the sax but next time please, prioritize your voice when adding background music
to explain it a bit more, usually in jazz you´ll never heard a sax playing while there is a singer singing, the sax poses a bit like the second vocal, same as the singer never sings when the sax is playing. i dont mean it in a bad way, i really fuckin love jazz and sax too, its just that i had to turn captions on to actually hear what you were saying in that part of the video. the piano is great, but for next time, dont use the sax
what's the movie at 0:15 ?
To mine imaginary best of my self i want to improve enveromental buisnes, helping to save the planet but non been a hippie whit no style or etiquet and your chanel helps me to much to refine miself and be a genttleman in this modern life.
How to deal with difficult people, and keep your dignity
music a bit to loud
Personal goal is weight loss
It's important not to go into cartoon mode. I've seen too many young men playing at being James Bond. We need to drill down to the real character not just the surface image.
Nothing wrong with using the character of James Bond as a template and aiming to be a realistic version of that.
@@chimpanzeeenjoyer4667 Absolutely! I'm just saying that Bond is a lot more than Martinis and Walther PPKs.
That music is too loud
Are you British? What's your accent?
hope you are not becoming patrick bateman ;)
That is a narcissistic way to view life.
How?
You’re killing it!
Thank you, sir!
