@@BIGGELATO ifs significantly lower performing than these new Bang&Olufsen system. I’ve heard the ELS signature before and it was rather underwhelming.
My guess is they did it to cut costs. With how well regarded ELS has been, the only logical reason for them to switch it was B&O offering to do the sound system for less money.
@@jeffmao850 they make the best systems I’ve ever heard in a car. They just have flatter tonal replication and most people like more bass and treble focused music
Thanks for this review! Will not even consider getting this vehicle. The lack of fine grained adjustment and sound issues are hard to believe. Those are show stoppers for me.
The Bose system in my Pilot Elite is much better than the B&O system in the MDX Advanced in my opinion. When will you do a audio system test on the Honda Pilot Elite?
Wireless Android Auto uses WiFi direct for streaming audio. Bluetooth is used for phone calls and for initial handshake(the car and the phone need to agree on a wirless network to use) i think.
The strong bass can well be a B&O signature tuning. B&O’s headphones and speakers are commonly tuned to have a boomy bass in general instead of focusing on getting accurate neutral sounds. They are not a true audiophile brand but rather a “lifestyle” brand that focuses more on style and personality, which honestly is lackluster compared to ELS imo.
in this system the bass is there and strong but like not as clear/smoother sounding compared to other systems, although not in the same league have smoother bass
If my $300 Apline radio from 2019 can have a 9-band parametric EQ, every single car on the road, from the cheapest Nissan Versa/Mitsubishi Mirage to the most expensive Rolls Royce or Ferrari should AT LEAST have a bass, mid, and treble adjustment. Even better, if my mom's 2019 Odyssey with the non-premium system can have a 4-band EQ (bass, mid, treble, subwoofer), why can't a car from the same automaker, at double the price, with a speaker system from a world-renowned brand have at least 5 bands? It doesn't even require more physical hardware!
Think something wrong with the phone and the audio setting with Blue Tooth or that wired connection it does sound a bit off... I know android in the dev settings you can change those settings... or is it the DSP setup...LOL
I had the same problem getting any USB stick to work with any type of cable or USB A-C adapter. I had to buy a USB-C stick and plug it directly into the port to get it to work. I tried 5.1 flac and wav files through USB on an A-Spec and a Type-S and got the same results, everything down-mixed to 2-channels. The B&O sounds good but it's a step down from the ELS as far as immersive audio. I found the Volvo B&W to be the same, very powerful system but would not play 5.1 properly.
You've tested the 19 speaker B&O system in the Audi S4 (which I have in an A4) and had a similar problem with too much bass coming out of the front woofers. Why can't Bang & Olufsen figure this stuff out?
Yeah. My s5 B&O is the same it’s too front focus. Put the sound stage 2 click to the back, +3 bass, +4 sub and it’s perfect for me. Almost as close to the sound profile of my Merc CLS Burmeister
@@lpmax3991 I’m a sucker for the flat response. I like the way Audi tunes their systems so I tend to leave the EQ alone. For just normal listening I have the surround at half and the 3D at low. It’s nice to be enveloped by some music after a long hard shift, but for critical listening 3D and surround go off.
WiFi is used for Android Auto, and you can turn off music transmission entirely under bluetooth settings. Also, is this a 5.1 system? It's likely 7.1 or higher
Please get your hands on a Cybertruck. I haven't had a chance to crank one up, but I've sat in a few that had some music going, and it seemed to have more bass all around than my 2020 Model 3. Please, please!
Tesla still one of the top dogs to audio. Allot of people can agree. I don’t know what speakers they use but lots of thump an clarity is incredible! Especially the new 17 speaker upgrade
Came back to see if it was just TH-cam making is sound bad... sound like a journalist may have blown a speaker or something because listing to the G90 sound test it sounds clean and this sound like something flapping.... its way off... as if the separation of sound or load on each speaker is not done correctly.... I wanted this to be great.... Oh NO.....I suppose I save funds and get a older MDX for the sound system... it really matters to me...... Got to go test drive a new one see if its just the journalist vehicle you have or all of them sound off....LOL
Lol I've tried a few new tracks from time to time. But having the same songs means I can pick up on very subtle differences from system to system. Between testing and editing, I've probably listened to all of these tracks a few thousand times by now.
The ELS system was one of the only reasons I would look at an Acura over a Genesis or European car. Sounds terrible honestly. I don’t know how that’s passable in a luxury car, much less Acura, who had a great system
The comparison with ELS is really telling. The ELS system sounds very hollow and dead compared to Bang&Olufsens offering. I’ve heard ELS in the MDX and was not impressed at all. I haven’t gotten my hands on a new MDX yet but with just hearing this video you can tell how much better the Bang&Olufsen is
The ELS system was one of the biggest selling points of these Acuras.
@@BIGGELATO ifs significantly lower performing than these new Bang&Olufsen system. I’ve heard the ELS signature before and it was rather underwhelming.
Acura gets rid of the touch pad(which didn’t really bother me) but never understand why they ditched the ELS system, that was such a good system!!!
ESL is more expensive, I guess....
exactly my thought
I think the only other ELS system vehicle he could find is maybe a Fisker Ocean at this point. But they’re bankrupt lmao.

@@jenuine1 but isn’t bang & olufsen a higher brand than ELS?
Just stumbled upon your page. This is exactly the type of content I’ve been looking for as I research my next vehicle
Glad it was helpful!
Great review, thank you! it is really sad that B&O is not as good as ELS:(
Bang and olufsen make great headphones, but not so much for car audio systems.

You should try to find copyright free music with vocals to aid in bringing more analysis for audio systems without sacrificing copyright strikes

They should've kept the ELS system and add a couple of tweeters.
