36 years old just ordered a rollerblades thanks for the tutorial, went out for the first time today on hard surface and I fell down 6 times lol, I did not quit.
I started today and bit it pretty hard backwards on asphalt and kinda landed in the grass and then a car came through and I thought I could just slide to the other side and man I lost it like 6 times in seconds but then recovered in the grass 😂 ain’t even look em in the eyes
Thank you! Just got my skates today and these tips are very detailed and easy to understand for a beginner. I really wanted to learn when I was a kid because my older cousins had one, but I never did. Now I can live my childhood dreams and pick up a new skill/good workout alternative during the quarantine :)
Did you learn yet? I just started today... and it’s so scary. How many hours do you have to practice for? I did 5 minutes of just standing, I feel 3 times and sweated heaps lol I did some rolling, but I can’t stop or go forward, just wherever gravity takes me. I am going to try again tomorrow with the tips in this video
37 Years old and I just ordered my first pair of Roller Blades in over 20 years. I used to love using those things at the local 'Rink' as they named it. I remember the stride and getting up like you described, but I also remember I NEVER could master the brake with the skate and had to rely on the built in brake. UGH. I'll try these tips when those bad boys come in thank you.
You're only a year older than I am, I am absolutely terrified of falling, cos I see my friends dad break his leg ice skating at the age of 13, but I really can't wait to skate, I hope my skateboarding past can help me

For everyone learning to rollerblade, don’t worry about the small details. Your body will adapt to the most efficient way to rollerblade after some time.
@flaviasantos3077 Best to learn proper technique though, but I do agree with how your body will learn to balance itself. Its just like learning to ride a bike.

Thanks Brandon; Question; just wondering if you have any tips on how to stay stable through the ankles in the side to side motion. As you are standing on a blade; i find that my ankles wobble. Any tips on how a beginner can avoid thi? Thanks!
Brandon... this was an awesome starter tute. I used to blade when I was younger. A few years ago I broke my leg and I have rehabbed it with the intent of getting back on my blades again. I have watched and rewatched this and I am getting back to my self on the blades. Thanks dude!
Thanks! Just bought my skates recently. Got some falls in already. I needed that stop direction from you today! I’m practicing for my wife birthday coming up so, I appreciate these lessons
I used to rollerblade as a kid and am picking it up again and figured I'd do some research to see if I was doing it right as a kid and/or could improve my techniques any, and you, BY FAR, have the best tutorial on how to rollerblade that I've seen out of the 5-6 or so videos that I've watched. Thanks for this info!
I’m buying roller blades soon and this is helping me get prepared! I needed a way to get across campus to classes faster, because I have several classes that only have 10 or so minutes between them, but are across campus. I always see people on scooters, skateboards, bikes, and skates, and I thought that was a good idea. I’m expecting some of my ice skating skill will carry over to this, because of the similar blade placement, but I’m still prepared to be mostly clueless lol. Wish me luck, and thanks for the helpful video!

Thank you,my cousin was teaching me but instead of starting me off with basic things like balancing and standing up she instantly tried teaching me how to roll, and she couldn't even teach me that, she didn't explain that I have to use one foot to push and the other rolls she just showed me and expected me to instantly know

Thank you for mentioning the motion in rollerblading because I had just watched two other tutorials and I understand the "so you don't fall" aspect of the steps they said to take but there's no way that those marching steps will transition into a forward roll so I'm just glad you mentioned that LOL
When I was a child I was able to get pretty good at rollerblading (for a child). By wearing one skate all around the house. I got good at balancing on one leg so when I actually put both on I felt pretty confident. Eventually I started sprinting with the cheap rollerblades from Walmart.
