37 Years old and I just ordered my first pair of Roller Blades in over 20 years. I used to love using those things at the local 'Rink' as they named it. I remember the stride and getting up like you described, but I also remember I NEVER could master the brake with the skate and had to rely on the built in brake. UGH. I'll try these tips when those bad boys come in thank you.

I’m buying roller blades soon and this is helping me get prepared! I needed a way to get across campus to classes faster, because I have several classes that only have 10 or so minutes between them, but are across campus. I always see people on scooters, skateboards, bikes, and skates, and I thought that was a good idea. I’m expecting some of my ice skating skill will carry over to this, because of the similar blade placement, but I’m still prepared to be mostly clueless lol. Wish me luck, and thanks for the helpful video!

When I was a child I was able to get pretty good at rollerblading (for a child). By wearing one skate all around the house. I got good at balancing on one leg so when I actually put both on I felt pretty confident. Eventually I started sprinting with the cheap rollerblades from Walmart. But i lost them camping after like a year and never bought anymore.. now I'm considering getting back into it.

As a unicyclist and casual mini cruiser board-er (that a term? Long boarding buy using a mini sized deck) I've always was impressed by blading. I think I might give it a try again to keep in shape and get my stamina up.
Riding the unicycle I have is fun, but tbh all the looks and questions by people can make just wanting to go for a ride around the block, a bit annoying sometimes.

I just gave my friends a pare of rollerblades and I’m trying to teach him how to ride them (he’s never even touched rollerblades lol) but had no idea of how to start teaching him because I taught myself how to rollerblade by myself. This video was great and I now think I can teach him the basics!😁👍🏻

That's so cool to hear! I hope teaching him goes well! I'm self taught too and have the same problem. I have found it very hard to teach just because its all automatic for me now. Thanks for watching, keep skating🙏

"Well this is gonna be fun"

The one foot balance isn't crucial. It will just help you in the long run. It's also easier to do rolling than standing still.
I hope your ankle gets better. Have fun rolling ✌

@@BrandonDrummond thanks for the tip! Unfortunately that ankle isn't going to ever heal, injured it 13 years ago. It was a very very severe sprain that never properly healed. I'll do my best.

I just started and when practicing there were so many people telling me that they gave up on trying. I think the problem is with the skates, the wheel 80mm takes you really fast. The companies don't make skates with small wheels and a break, on such skates nobody would give up, or I might be wrong. Personally, I would I don't mind to buy 2 pairs one for baby steps and the other for an actual rollerskating.
