    The best advice I can give is to just wear them, wear until you start feeling it natural with it. Stand up and do little steps by step while holding on, do the exercise shown in this video. Take a break and sit, then go back. Do this until it start feeling natural, you’ll start getting good results.
    Don’t rush, just know that this will be something that will take days.

    I'm getting back into inline skating after 20 years and I'd always use wrist guards..they saved me from shattering my wrists many times in the past. First instinct when you fall is to put your hands out, the guards absorb and redistribute the force going into your wrists... Excellent video.

      @@SASPayne1D that's the point 😊 when the wrist skid, although it might make you hit with elbows etc they prevent the wrist catching which is what usually makes it fracture. just like mc gloves are designed for us bikers. you want to skid along because the slower you stop, granted your kit is good enough to not rip off the less blunt force trauma you get.

    I am a beginner and I realised yesterday that keeping my body leaning forward with knees bent helps me find my balance faster. Also keeping the blades slanting outwards helps in the same respect. And keeping arms in front of my eyes helped a lot too.

    Just a suggestion on wrist guards: Absolutely get them.
    I was an avid rollerblader in the VERY early days of its resurgence in the very early 90s. We did handrails, big steps, halfpipe and bowls and just a whole lot of random stuff.
    You have wheels on your feet. This is fine for when you fall forward. But when you are just starting to learn, you are not only learning to skate but you are also learning to fall. And one of the most dangerous and extremely common mistakes is falling backwards. Your will automatically throw out your hands and try to stop your fall, arms straight and essentially take your whole body weight + momentum force on your wrists. They will break.
    This is the most common 'serious' injury that I have witnessed, repeatedly. From beginners to experts.

    dude, i am even not begginer (i am shaking on the grass ;d), yet i still see two non- professinal things that i want to stress out:
    - where's your protective gear?
    - your skates are barely hanging on your foot and while you are standing, you leggs are pointing inwards.
    if i would see you as my first youtube tutor i'll probably toss rollers hell away due to fact that laces and straps "connects me" to rollers as seatbelts connects me to car.
    please correct me if this "loosely technique" is deliberate and recommended by you, because maybye i am missing something educational here which may help me overcome my fears and unbalanceness

    • @MarcelsHockeySchool
      @MarcelsHockeySchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In the Video, and for beginners, I definitely recommend protective gear. I’m also one of the few coaches in Germany who wears a helmet on-ice while coaching. However, I have a bigger chance of falling down the stairs at home than falling by myself doing a beginners tutorial, so I didn’t put on any gear.
      Because this video is very simple, I had my skates on very loose. The main reason my legs are pointed inwards though, is that the chassis of my rollers isn’t not mounted perfectly (too far out, hence it makes my ankles bend in). It doesn’t really bother me though and I’m used to it.

    • @lis6502
      @lis6502 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MarcelsHockeySchool well, that puts much perspective on this video. Thank you for answer :)

    I tried inline skating for the first time yesterday. I had no protective gear because I just borrowed some skates to see if I liked it. I had a blast, but should have definitely worn wrist guards. When I fell I instinctively caught myself with my hands every time. My wrists hurt so bad today, that I want to advocate the wrist protectors to every other beginner, seriously should have worn some! My friend also told me he always wears them after breaking his wrists multiple times.

    • @MarcelsHockeySchool
      @MarcelsHockeySchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doing a hockey-like stop on rollerblades is extremely difficult; I can’t even do it.
      For beginners, it’s best to have a “stopper” put on on the back of one of the rollerblades. You lift up your toe, the stopper hits the ground, and you stop

    as a biker (mc) I can tell you right now the wrist guards are a god send. they might not be exactly like a mc set of gloves. but the premice is the same, you want the plastic protector to skid along the asphalt completely preventing road rash, and a very common fracture forc accide TS where the skin simply catches on the ashphalt, grips too much and twists your wrist 180 degrees the wrong way. a stiff one also helps prevent that fracture
