As a deck owner I have a hard time justifying another half a grand handheld, Im waiting for a true generational leap and I feel all these other devices are mid gen refreshes of the same type of product where in another year or 2 we should be seeing a giant leap vs stop gaps, Also I decided mentally that my Deck is to catch up on back library of games, My PC is for AAA new games, PS5 for VR and exclusives , Switch for socializing locally, theres no real time to play in same day and to expect desktop performance out of a handheld seems like a dragon chase, expensive af, By January something more powerful will be out by Ayaneo or something, Its congested so much its no longer about hardware but about support, Nothing matches the Deck yet in that area

I agree. I went to Micro Center and they have the Lenovo for you to test out. I wasn't blown away. It's just really a bigger version of the ROG ally. Is it better then the Steam Deck? I guess but I don't think you have to replace it. My opinion

I own both Steam deck and Rog Ally. I spend most of my time with Rog Ally. The biggest reason for this is that it can play games at higher resolution. I do not compare Windows and Linux. If I do, of course the Linux operating system will be more stable. However, I started to prefer playing at higher fps with 25-30 watts or with the same fps at higher resolution. By the way, I still haven't experienced the SD card problems that people experience with Rog Ally (I've been using Rog Ally with SD card for 3.5 months). Finally, the only thing I was not happy with was the battery. I wish I could play games for longer. I have to travel with a power bank.

@@Jaephers If I didn't live in Turkey, I would agree with what you said. However, in my country, 1 dollar = 28.40 Turkish Lira. When I bought Rog Ally, it was 1 Dollar = 22 Turkish Liras. I have a desktop computer. First of all, I can't play games, I'm a graphic designer. I have to get a lot done at the desk. My interest in handheld consoles started with the Steam deck. It's like I'm lying on my bed and playing games before falling asleep. Since the official Steam deck is not currently sold in my country, everyone started selling it for the same price as Rog Ally. Here we are complaining about the sellers, not the manufacturer. Therefore, we started to prefer to buy a newer one for the same money. Probably if the Lenovo handheld computer is sold for a similar amount of money, people will still prefer it over the Steam deck. Well, the truth is that buying games with this dollar exchange rate is not what everyone does in this country. Most people play games with crack. The simplest newly released AC Mirage game costs 2/10 of the minimum wage in my country. Therefore, more people prefer to use Windows.

_Btw I'm not a fanboy as the steam deck is just too heavy for me and my carpal tunnel and so the controllers are useless, but I still get blown away by the fact that the $450 machine can play so many games and that I actually have access to them. @@zainmushtaq4347 it is mediocre. Value it brings though is different. Its a pc. That can play not so demanding games at 30 to 60 fps. No matter what it is priced at, it is mediocre in terms of graphics fidelity. I have a 4090 just because i can, that's not mediocre but the value is nowhere near a steamdeck. Dont confuse these two.
Now the legion go/rog ally is much better being able to run more demanding games smoother. Plus with gamepass my library of day one games automatically increases. I can play on my pc, xbox, and on the go legion go. That alone beats steamdeck. Not to mention the bigger screen better battery. Steam deck needs to be imported here, 700 for the basic. 999 for legion go. No brainer. Now as to stability, ive been using windows for gaming before i had psone. Before that DOS, hmm maybe a few hiccups. I dont see any major issues, if legion delivers regular software ans driver updates.

Great to see what ASUS and Lenovo have brought to the handheld PC space especially the controller you can turn into a mouse and the beastly screens but my Steam Deck is keeping me happy until I see what the SD2 offers when/if it turns up. My issue is price, for £700 I have enough carry over parts from an old setup that I could build a 6700xt desktop PC for the same price and just keep the Steam Deck. The £460 price was just right to tempt me in with the Steam Deck, now I know I have a use case for a handheld PC I may spend £700 in the future but it would have been a turn off as an entry point. The other big issue is OS and support, Lenovo and ASUS don't have the capacity to match Valve in that regard. I hope it and the ALLY do well though.

I think the most important things are price, portability, and playability. The Lenovo Go is $700 and the Steam Deck starts at $350. The Go is quite larger than the Deck which makes it harder to carry. The Go is about 40% faster, but the deck feels more like a console and feels more durable with part replacement being a breeze. The deck is also easy to use as an emulator and has tons of plugins for better customization. I think they are both great, but if you're looking for a console for when you're away from your main setup then you can't beat the Deck.

I think this is one of those I am going to wait a couple of years to see which one really is good as far as durability and updates. I keep seeing people battle with the heat issue on the Lenovo Legion and people have said they still need some updates to catch up with the Steam Deck and Asus. I personally am seeing a few bugs comparatively and if I’m going to spend that much money, I definitely want it to be something that I will like that’s rounded and tested properly over time. Maybe by then I can afford one too haha. I think for me I’m too overwhelmed by the options at this point, I’m still a novice in the gaming world as far as devices, and emulators, and I’ve never owned a pc so it’s really hard for me to just jump in and attempt to compare when I have no experience to compare it with. I know what games I want to play but that’s as far as it goes for me, which device can play them best, and others, like retro games, I need to do a ton of more research.

The weaker SD hardware in combination with the extra translation layer is what is causing this huge gap. 1 on 1 native comparison wouldnt had that huge of a difference.

Plus the deck is modular n design so you can easily replace and modify parts on it. Like upgrade the screen too oled and 144 hz.
