    I bought a 2023 WRX base model about a month and a half ago now. It is a blast to drive. I'm loving every second of driving that car. I wanted a Honda Civic Type R but that was out of my price range so I ended up buying the WRX and I don't regret it one bit. I'm really happy with my WRX. I wasn't the biggest fan of the looks of the new WRX but it grew on me once I bought mine. Now, I love how they look and the car drives awesome. Honestly, it's the best purchase I've made this year. I couldn't be any happier with it.

    • @Shortay1325
      @Shortay1325 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      There's been proof that multiple stock VBs on dynos are putting down around 245-255whp. Multiple Dyno videos from big channels & others on the internet showing their bone stock dyno readings. All are 245-255whp. Yes, I know there is more loss with the AWD drivetrain, but it's a simple fact that a multiple stock VB WRXs are putting down around 250whp. So this means that the claimed "271hp" from factory is likely underrated for whatever reason. With the 20% AWD loss from crank, the stock VBs should be making right around 220whp. Interesting indeed that many reputable people are seeing 245whp - 255whp bone stock. This theoretically means that a typical bone stock VB is making 305-310hp at the crank.

    After watching tons of videos about this car and building up hype for weeks and weeks, I finally got a chance to drive one on a dealer lot and boy.... let's just say I was disappointed. For one, I really didn't like just how loud the rumble from the exhaust/engine is in the cockpit. Maybe it's just the frequency of it, but it felt like I just had a subwoofer underneath me playing nonstop. Maybe it's something I could get used too, not sure.
    Aside from that though, there was a clattering noise I could hear up along the dashboard. It sounded like the hood was rattling or something but I can't be sure. Also, it's way underpowered given the premium fuel requirement and poor fuel economy. I already own a 22 Outback Wilderness and I honestly felt like the WRX was not as quick and not as peppy as the family wagon. Stopping power was also pitiful.
    I guess it's fun to slam through the gears on an open road, but for a daily driver, it's too expensive and too underwhelming to be a serious contender for me. The upgraded stereo wasn't worth a damn given that I could barely hear it over the engine noise. The one I was looking at was a hair over 40k with all the upgrades and options, but that's way too much given what else you can get for the same money elsewhere.

    Just tossing a intake on with the tune on these makes them so much more satisfying to drive and pull really hard, even with conservative tunes can hit 20 psi and get all the good noises with the intake with a good increase to how hard they pull. Bone stock i think i was pretty bored with it. Still considering leaving it eventually for a supra but they are fun for how little the cost is compared to others while having awd still.
    Dual pinion steering btw, its a bit of a floaty steering the sti definitely handles better in that dept. 600 hp builds are with headstuds, you need them past like 400-450 or so. 400 tq on itll blow trans pretty quick if your hard on it

    Nice car guys but fyi in Australia we dyno our cars at a much more realistic level and these new wrx models make 200-220hp at the wheels on a mainline dyno which is one of the most reliable and accurate dynos in Australia. I’ve noticed Americans / Canadians love to exaggerate numbers. STI makes 150-160kw at the wheels and completely stock VB is 145-155kw at the wheels. Also did you say that the VB handles better than a sti ? lol made me cough up my drink and then you said everyone knows it hahahaha. All reviewers of the VB have said it’s a better road car but revs to low and not as track focused as the sti. They tune better than the ej motor which is a fact but it’s not an sti sorry. Just checked my dyno graph sti 2019 vs the same tuner when he did a vb wrx and sti was 151kw stock at 16 pounds and 190kw after pro tune 16-18 pounds boost vs the vb wrx same dyno different day 146kw stock 13 pounds and 188kw after pro tune 16-18 pounds. He did mention to me the sti has tighter tolerances and stronger drivetrain ( gearbox and diffs included ) so it loses more to wheels than regular awd vehicles. www.bachmansubaru.net/blog/sti-vs-wrx/#:~:text=The%20Subaru%20STI%20is%20the,more%20powerful%20brakes%2C%20and%20more.

      Sorry mate, but dyno numbers are just a number at the end of the day. It is a tuning tool, and it doesnt matter what number it baselines at, its about the curve and improvements from parts.. thats what a dynamometer is for. You can say "most accurate" etc thats totally relative.. Here in the states, a typical STI dynos for around 245-255whp without any mods, that could be due to many things, but fuel is the main constraint. We also have stringent environmental factors when it comes to cars in the US. Lastly, the VB platform is very under tuned from factory but still puts down around 245-260hp without any mods.. those are similar numbers which means that subaru underrated the car. That is much closer to 300 hp at the crank (when mulitplying by 1.2 which is standard correction for parasitic loss) which is where subaru releases info about.
      Now to speak to your nonsense about STI's, I have owned 3, still own my 05 sti, which is the best year we got in NA, and no, the previous generation STI's do not handle better than the VB out of the box, they under-steer more, and arent as balanced. The chassis stiffness from the VB platform makes it a much better handling car overall. As far as it being a better road car, this is also true, its just better technology all around when it comes to suspension and chassis stiffness. Where the VB loses to the STI is drivetrain. For example, the transmission, differentials and engine potential. The EJ has port injection vs the FA's direct injection (port injection being better for making big power). Other than that it comes down to chassis stiffness and suspension which as I said, has been improved with the VB. All of this info is readily available with a simple google search. The VA was better than its predecessor, but the GD is still better than the VA in terms of raw potential, is built better etc.
      You should stop stating "everyone knows" when in fact many VB owners are former VA STI owners (myself included, 15ISM, and 17GPB) and the VB has a better chassis. Enjoy your 19STI, and learn to appreciate that its ok, that the VB is good, it doesnt mean your VA STI is bad.

    • @gengiz
      @gengiz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@juanticimo I think the reviewers doing these amateur videos need to compare it with the old wrx not the higher performance model sti as it’s not in the same league anyway. • @zombielivesmatter7294
      @zombielivesmatter7294 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      you're spot on gengiz, my buddies Zach and Matt from thesmokingtire were given a VB to test by Subaru themselves and took it to Willow Springs and they themselves in the video said it's almost unusable at the track. The VB also placed last and one of the worst times ever for C&D's Lightning Lap 2023. The engine is very new and nice, but many don't realize the AWD drivetrain in VB is straight from the Crosstrek and Forester using front open diff and rear open diff with brakepad torque vectoring. AWD performance cars like the STI you mention, the EVO, and my GTR all have front limited-slip diff, center active DCCD/AYC/ATESSA diff, and rear LSD for AMAZING handling at track and canyon.

      I'm pretty most STI owners don't buy it for straight line drag racing pulls, I don't have a STI but it seems most STI owners, like EVO owners, and my GTR, like those AWD cars because they handle amazing with front limited-slip diff, center DCCD/AYC/ATESSA diff, and rear limited-slip diffs. The VB unfortunately uses open front diff and open rear diff with brakepad torque vectoring from the Crosstrek and Forester SUV, but for many using it for daily driving it handles amazing for those duties.

      @@HesiDrift I wouldn't drive on those Cobb OTS tunes for long. They aren't made for your exact car, so numbers will be off, which can blow the motor. Get a downpipe and a dyno tune.

    VB doesn’t handle better than the STi, STi has been tuned to be significantly better, in no way has the wrx been better in that aspect…I own a vb, and to have 300WHP, it would have a lot more pep and pull significantly harder, this one performs stock, making sense why the owner doesn’t tell anybody💀 it likely isn’t true. Street inspired and heavymetalwrx have shown 300 WHP, and it is significantly more rowdy. Not to mention to make 300WHP, it has to increase to more than 14 easily. I’m stock and have peaked at 14.4…13.1 is stock and looking at how boost builds on his wrx, it stays single digits. Tuned WRX’s hit double digits easily. This car likely isn’t 300WHP.

      well different driving, for video poster type of driving it handles amazing for daily driving and I'm not surprised, the VB has the chassis and drivetrain straight from the Crosstrek and Forester SUV and those handle amazing for daily drivers with front open diff and rear open diff and brakepad torque vectoring. But for track and canyon and performance you are right, the STI, along with the EVO and my GTR have front limited-slip diff, center DCCD/AYC/ATESSA diff, and rear limited-slip diff for that amazing handling.
