    Subaru was supposed to release an sti with VB chassis with an sti trans, hence why our cars have the dcccd cut out. There is a wherehouse with brand new sti trans, just sitting there. Subaru had the VB on the development phase since the release of the VA STI. They had big plans, but the STI got cut out the US market.

    300hp was what the STI was making 20 years ago, when it was 200lbs lighter.

    Development Target = Emissions restrictions. Subaru was very clear they killed the STI program due to not being able to meet emissions, they might be able to make a limited run and not get too much flack from governments.
    You said "we get" these will all get scooped up by collectors and will likely root in a warehouse somewhere.

      FA engines are very reliable with power, they can easily handle 350-400WHP daily driven, no problem. The transmission is the weak point. In f act, just a downpipe and tune will get you close to 350WHP, if you have a VB.

    I had 2018 STI. Sold itz for 23 WRX premium. Sold it. I couldn't bring myself to spend 45 to 47k on a tS, that doesn't even have the decent trans when we are in the Type R etc price bracket. Mental.
    Bought a truck until Subaru get theirselves together.

      Could always get a base model and build the trans with the money saved. You won't have Brembos, but you could just geta big brake kit, which would also be better than the factory Brembos, anyway. If it's not going to be a track car, the Brembos aren't an immediate requirement, anyway.

    Subaru’s “S” models are not only the hardcore motor sport version of the STi but it comes at the end of that version, like the last hurrah, so this could mean a new model is in the horizon.

    If this had the STi 6 speed, I would buy it immediately. Those seats I could do without.. they look great but they really add a lot to the cost.

    There is no need for limited slip differential if you have torque vectoring actually most of the clutch pack style limited slip differential will cause problems with torque vectoring you can have one or the other if you have both they will have moments when they will interfere. Open diff transfer power with reduced losses . Even if you are rally racing the car one car argue that torque vectoring is more reliable and more effective system and integrates better with the all wheel drive. Regarding the automatic transmission all automatic wrx have a superior central differential that is control by the ecu that is by far better than the outdated silicon based lsd. Plus the car has a better bias 45 to 55 and final gear ratio is 4.44 to 1 vs 4.1 to one on the manual version so in reality everyone that purchased manual car has received more durable setup able to take on modifications but far less sophisticated and efficient compared to the auto and on top of that an average driver in an auto car will almost always win against manual simply because CVT can transfer torque faster and with non interruption due to gear change and missed gear. So if you are planing to put a lot of power manual is the way to go but if you keep your car stock CVT is a way better option.

    Sure it has a SPT but it's Japanese only and they get no manual. So it's fine. I'm sure it drives incredible regardless of transmission choice.

      Yep! I do say in the video that the Japanese market stopped getting manual WRX’s since the VA generation so it’s no surprise it comes in auto. Agree with you on the driving part, should be tuned well for what it is.

    I love to have the seats. My gosh!!!
    Love the interior!
    But still no sti transmission or even rear brembo brake calipers. The overall look is a lot better in my option. And now to color match the fenders would be easier since it’s now a painted surface compared to the textured ones.

    Good video Sepp, thanks. S210 looks good but wish it had STI trans. Interesting the Japan market has gone auto! Power is probably limited to ~300 hp because of the CVT trans?

    If it's a power bump it's probably above 300 given the 271 from the vbs is clearly closer to 300 when they dyno at 250whp

    Few comments: 1. JDM only? 2. Current WRX has 300 HP (the 271 number is under-reported)-does that mean this thing will actually have 330? 3. CVT only?! This seems to be a tS on a few steroids, or the GT on steroids. This will likely be a very limited production version, likely not USDM. Will see….

      This is for the japanese market only unfortunately. Not missing out on too much since it’s CVT. Hopefully they got something better for the overseas folks

    Now why the heck would make a 300hp S210 when the previous 2019 S209 is about 340hp with an HKS turbo? That's laughable. Subaru hasn't competed in the wrc since 2008, so I don't know they keep sticking to the norm. We need a 400hp STI or something.

    S208 was 329 PS from port injected 2.0L that also revved to 8k… modern emission standards or not 300 PS is not acceptable from a special halo car with turbo 2.4L direct injected engine.
    I am guessing they had to limit it due to fear CVT blowing up. They really need to get TY85 STi trans back in the cars.

      TY85 would be nice. People have done it on this car so it is possible. Who knows with subaru what their move is for the overseas market

    Why the step backward with horsepower?? The last S spec production car sold in the U.S had 340+ horsepower and made cloae to 400 with just a upgrade to 3" downpipe and 94 octane tune. 300 is 2004 era power? Its 2025.

    Subaru of Japan and Subaru of America are like the Rockstar Games of the car world for enthusiasts.
    Regardless if this is just for the Japan market, they go through so much hassle with special edition and limited edition after special edition and limited edition after special edition and limited edition instead of just doing the obvious thing and the right thing for this car and it's to give it a proper STI.
    They already know the WRX tS will be dead on arrival (DOA) in North America. Do they really think Japanese WRX / WRX STI enthusiasts will go for a CVT-only transmission limited edition S210?
    Both Subaru of Japan and Subaru of America know that they have run out of ideas and options and need to face the reality that resistance of a VB STI is futile.
    They need to just give in and listen to the STI community and do what they're told by the STI community and give people the VB WRX STI that they originally already had fully built and ready to go to begin with and this can all be voided and avoided.
    The problem with Subaru of Japan and Subaru of America (and I don't care if they read comments here or not and if they do, they take offense to it because I'll tell the truth whether they want to believe it or not) is that they keep playing this game like Rockstar Games does with Grand Theft Auto 6 like when is the next trailer going to happen in their illogical sense of "how long can we make people crack until the community forget everything STI so we can transition to hybrid CVT-only and pure EV only STe axing the manual transmission and everything the WRX and STI stood for including its high sales take rate in the manual transmission?

    Isn’t this car going to only be limited in Japan? If it was sold in this market, it would be $65k USD at minimum. Probably around $75k USD as someone stated in the comments. I genuinely feel like no one would want to buy this car. I wish I understood Japanese so that I could understand the video reveal for this car. But from a foreigner perspective, this car makes no sense for it to be an S series car.

    It’s one of the best-looking versions of the new gen WRX, but why a CVT? It looks so hardcore, but has a tranny softer than baby s#%t. There are so many better automatic transmissions that don’t zap every last bit of fun out of driving.

    Yup Subaru gets all the blame they did use dirty just my opinion for one the WRX should be at 300HP, They never did anything about the EJ engine but give us different rate suspension for the STI they everybody change once they get one I will stop there I have more and yet I still drive one so lol let me stop venting 😂
