Yea it’s true but have almost the same case and designe like JLC ..i dont like this..JLC have amazing movement and dial but I dont like this vintage case..It will look much much bether in the case like A.Lange & Sohne
I liked IWC for Brand of the Year. Not just the Eternal Calendar. They relaunched and updated much of the Portugieser line, including new cases for the 7 days Automatic, with a new box crystal, and new color dials. The ice blue dial on white gold case Port Chronograph is delicious!
There were some interesting watches this year and, I agree, Cartier was the strongest brand this year BUT no watch was as persuasive as last year's breakthrough, the JLC Reverso Tribute.
I generally agree with your choices. Cartier is growing on me (for the love of *Christ,* release a yellow gold, manual wind Tank, Cartier - it's ridiculous that this isn't a permanent fixture of your catalogue...no, I don't want it as a fucking quartz).
Not to be the guy who only thinks in binary terms but a bit hard for me to square the circle of Rolex getting Most Disappointing and Best in Show. Feels a little like having your cake and eating it too. Look at us talking trash about Rolex but still also acknowledging that they’re still the one who drives the bus that we’re all on.
the biggest problem with the gold black bay is the price....its just a few dollars less than market price for the 126619, literally. Or i could get a 116520 and the 36 wimbeldon and still have change.... whats up with tudor's pricing ???
@@romanmichaelhamilton8729 Its all about Tudor getting people like you to talk about it. Pro-Tip from the Stoics: You don't need to have an opinion about everything.
Answering your question as for whom is the new Rolex Gold Deepsea: Latin American Drug Lords!! For me this W&W Edition was all about IWC, JLC and Vacheron. Some beautiful pieces showing what real craftmanship is.
You and the IDGuy nailed it. The 1908 is a signal for where the crown will eventually take the brand. 1908 Chrono? Worldtime? Great platform to expand upon.
Thanks for the awesome and enjoyable recap of a pretty pack week of releases. As they say, brevity is the soul of wit! With that said, as a proud Explorer II owner, I still can’t shake the Rolex cosplaying as Patek vibe from the 1908 line (or Celini for that matter).
I feel like having the 1908 as best in show was intentionally done to get comments because there were significantly better watch releases across the brands. Agree that it opens up what Rolex could become, however, not event close to Best in Show in my opinion. But that's it, just an opinion. Cartier and IWC were the biggest winners for me and I completely agree that Cartier got the Best Brand. They pushed the boundaries from a fashion sense and also provided "function".
The red Tokyo lion (liger… bigger than a lion) dial shows off a technology that will make the pattern more visible on dark dials. The big difference between the blue peacock and the original teal peacock is the latter is paler so the pattern is more visible (which is why it retains more value than the blue). The new technique will give GS greater range in dial shade. That’s my innovation of the W&W24.
Look at the writing on the Rolex dial (Rolex and Certified Master Chronometer) which disrupts the rice-grain pattern and tell me agin that it’s Best in Show over the IWC Eterna which doesn’t need reset for 45 million years.
Hi Thomas, thanks for this in depth review. My question is a bit off topic. What is that stunning blazer & shirt that you’re wearing in this video. Much appreciated! 😊
GMT coke Tudor = buy. Ez winner. Beautiful. That new 1908 rolex is absolutely stunning. I think it everything i could want. Price? Scared to look. The tortu Cartier is something i am now considering first. But i feel it’s a need to see in person watch. Longines is very much like that, so is Cartier. In person, on a wrist, they look and feel much better than youtube can show. I was hoping for more JLC reverso options, even just two medium ones. Winner is that 1908 rolex.
My worst watch is Rolex Deep Sea Sea Dweler in gold and GMT gray/black lunete…my best watch is VC traditionelle tourbillon and Laurent Ferrier moonphase,my most beautiful watch is VC overseas dual time and PP nautulist,my bigest suprise is JLC manufacture and I except more of Czapek ..
I would say, don't buy a Nomos unless you like spending a lot of money sending the watch back to Germany, and waiting for months on end to have it serviced. They refuse to send parts to anywhere.
At 7:07 Thomas asks who is the Rolex Deep Sea in solid gold aimed? Answer: the Jacques Cousteau crowd who never get their watches wet! I do have a concern based on this year's new watches from Rolex. Is Rolex leaving the tool watch market? Other then the GMT with the black/gre bezel, all the watches were high ended pieces that cannot be considered tool watches.
Guess that's the setup. Tudor is for customers who want the 'affordable' robust work/sports watch, what Rolex used to be, while Rolex itself now is more to people who first of all want the brandname, whatever type of watch and price, and prices have sky rocket with the higher demand than supply.
I like what Tudor is doing, but I feel like they’re stretching it out too far. Like they’re literally updating the black bay metas one color at a time lol. You can still get the old blue one as is. Like why not just update the whole line and move onto something else next year? It feels lazy.
Good point. It’s likely a business strategy of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Moving onto something else is exciting for fans but a risk for the brand.

JLC, IWC to name but a few turn up with high horology. Meanwhile, Rolex turn up with a machine finished wrist watch and win best in show? And Tudor continue to launch homages and steel the show? The coke is fine, although the gold finishes make it look dated and not in a good way, whilst the new Submariner, oops my mistake Black Bay is last years watch in monochrome. Compared to others brands, with 400 year perpetual calanders, you would have thought they would be worried. May as well award it to the new Moonswatch Snoopy for its moon phase. Maybe Rolex asked for the hype on Tudor given it lost market share last year and fell behind Hermes, down in 17th. Tudors share of headlines, given its complete lack of innovation in both design and horology is nothing short of mass hypnosis of the media.

Let's talk about your Best in Show, the Rolex 1908. Rolex needs to be rebuffed for their recent bullying of Artisans de Genéve. In a single stroke, Artisans de Genéve "out-Rolexed" Rolex with the Artisans de Genéve Honey Green Daytona, the greatest Rolex of last 60 years. This pissed Rolex off and they are suing Artisans de Genéve. It's easier to sue than improve your product. Rob Dickinson of Singer pissed off Porsche by transforming the 911 into a masterpiece. Artisans de Genéve designs similar miracles with the mass produced, artificially restricted supply of Rolex. Watch collectors are narcissists, however. Watch collectors will kiss ass to gain the approval of daddy. They'll continue to snivel about Rolex's arrogant waiting lists. "Make a ton of money. Get on your knees. Be a good little boy and you might get a Rolex." While Rolex turns out mass produced luxury for people with more money than taste, they use their power and money to crush genuine excellence. It's shameful and watch collectors turn a blind eye.
The way you spoke about Tudor was a bit much: best value for...."any Tudor". Really? Came across as a bit sucking up. And poor Grand Seiko gets "nothing short of respectable." That actually made me laugh out loud. It's amazing that ANY Japanese brands even bother to show up at this uppity event where the Swiss invite other countries for PR reasons only. On a positive note, good approach to content in this video.
The best thing Rolex could do is reissue the beautiful pre Daytona chronographs to their catalogue.... Let's face it the current Daytos are a bit of an ugly duckling in my humble opinion.... If I was in the market for a luxury chronograph a BREGUET X type would be my choice or even any chronograph from the hanhart catalogue both of these chronographs kill the ugly Daytos stone dead..... 😊
W&W 2024: Best watch and worst watch? Cast your vote.
Can't follow the logic of the Best in Show designation. But I agree that Cartier was this year's best brand at W&W.
JLC once again showing why they are Masters of their craft.
IWC eternal calendar deserves attention

Christopher Ward by a mile.
For me, Cartier has the best release at this year W&W.

Hey Thomas! Great video- as an aside what was the jacket you wore in the Longines vid? Really like the corduroy details on the sleeves. Thanks!
Thank you for the episode
Thanks for watching, David!
Omega 2024 Paris Speedmaster was the best to come out. Straight banger
The heliotourbillon perpetual calendar from JLC is the most beautiful and impressive watch I have ever seen.
Also the largest. It’s way too big
Best VC green overseas - any of them
They’re a little late to the party for green & gold, but ya can’t argue with the results
lmao. they change the dial on a 8 year old watch and people are giving them big praise. for what??? changing a color?
The same story like nautulis..but VC green dial is much much bether than silver dial..
Agree with Cartier as brand! Agree 1908 or Tortue for best in show…
I more respect old monopusher with Vianney Halter dna
I wish I had just stuck to one good watch - near 27 now - waste of bloody money😅- good video

Yes, and you still wind up with an aluminum bezel insert on the Tudor that can be found on a $400 Seiko 5 GMT.

Rolex and Patek obviously not listening to their customer base. W&W 2024 was an underwhelming disappointment.
Is that a Cucinelli Blazer? I own one that looks identical
Tortue is the best. To beat the original movement (now used in de bethunes) was a tall task but they did it.
JLC IWC VC such great and serius watchmakers. They deserve the podium.
Look at the writing on the Rolex dial (Rolex and Certified Master Chronometer) which disrupts the rice-grain pattern and tell me agin that it’s Best in Show over the IWC Eterna which doesn’t need reset for 45 million years.
The Chopard "skeleton" looks exactly like the Emporio Armani "skeleton" dial kind of quality.
A watch I really like is that new 'Espresso' dial Piaget Polo...

I think this year’s winner is definitely between IWC and JLC. Tudor and Cartier has no competitiveness at all.
Best watch: Zenith vintage diver revival
Worst Watch in my opinion. It's all about preference.
Why penalize Patek because of the strap??? you can change it if you don't like it...
Best outlook ive heard yet, nice work old sport

The 1908 is definitely a step in the right direction but the Cartier Tortue Monopusher is the winner for me
Zenith made nice reborn vintage diver, red details..but defy looks like corum..
Best was Vacherin Costantin. Worst was Rolex.
Canadian tuxedo 😂😅. Patek sees Rolex coming at them and they want to be hip to keep the rappers and ballers.
Winner of the W&W show is VC hands down!
