@@LukeLavablade I think the first story to do that was Ashley's story, Pike's Purple Jewel Cake, in an even more evil way, tacking on a detail at the end with "oh, I almost forgot" in the original, exactly the way retellers had done in the couple episodes before that. I was interested to see that Matt's version held up through a couple iterations since performing it that way looks intentional enough even in a re-tell, and different from what it looks like if they actually just forget a name to say. @@JohnVanderbeck I feel like it's the other way around - they've gotten way too good at picking up the details, so there's less wild guesses and random new storylines. It just get's condensed and simplified now (generally speaking).
When you go back to an old game and play on Nightmare Mode right away. Travis was amazing. Sam was smart to make new alliterations rather than try to remember the earlier ones. Like before? They always had the original story first
@@IISheireenIIThey mean having all the retellings then the commentary
Matt went so hard the Stone Jaw joke didn't even get to Ashley's turn..
Having the narrator have a moment of misremembering is genuinely such an evil thing to do in this game. Expert move from Matt
(Especially since it's Grog.)
"I'm sorry the rest of you aren’t good at dark souls" 😂
Matt sure told a fancy story about how Artagan turned Grog's genitals into flowers.
Matt, applause to you, amazing start to the new Narrative Telephone! :D
Utilizing that many forms of wordplay while maintaining a meaningful story is impressive.
YES THE RETURN. I have missed this series so much.
How hard it went off the rails with Marisha and her getting attacked by almost everyone with the Vertical v Horitzontal, was amazing!
This is my first Narrative Telephone experience since I only got into Critical Role last year
Check the old ones regardless, they were ray of sunshine during pandemic
Just know that Matt came for their revenge
In some ways I prefer the originals. They got too good at making it hard, so the stories fall apart pretty much instantly now.
@@JohnVanderbeck I feel like it's the other way around - they've gotten way too good at picking up the details, so there's less wild guesses and random new storylines. It just get's condensed and simplified now (generally speaking).
"It was 2-minutes, but it felt like 2-hours."
In a different context...maybe the best special time compliment ever?
I’m so glad they brought this back!
When you go back to an old game and play on Nightmare Mode right away.
Travis was amazing. Sam was smart to make new alliterations rather than try to remember the earlier ones. Ashley's choice to drop them almost completely was probably best; if something must be sacrificed, better it be the alliterations than the actual content of the story. I like how Marisha tried adding some Grog in there. After that it of course devolved into improv.
Laura is always a delight.
So happy to see this is back!
Just seen it starts with Matt! So excited!!
"Held wide his haunches" is the Shakespearian version of a "spready to the gods", Ozzyman would be proud
“Hello my name is ___”
“Moral of the story is…”
“Mariah’s was-“
The holy trinity is back
"Stretching your wings"? I would have thought Matthew would have learned to steer clear of that phrase.
The alliteration was supremely sublime.
Extra points for quoting Clue.
This is my first episode of Narrative Telephone and it is absolutely unhinged even by CR standards!
If you like this one, you'll love the others 😂
Pure mayhem
@@RuailleBuaille I'll check them out sometime. Which ones would you say are their greatest hits?
Be aware that some of them are spoilery if you haven't watched all 3 campaigns. :)
The older episodes of Narrative Telephone are much better paced imo, hope you check 'em out as well!
@@TimpanistMoth_AyKayEll I've watched enough clips over the years for that to be not a problem. Thanks for bring that up though.
