@@GoldenJayTime Actually the beauty of that is that Laura _didn't_ do that, it just emerged naturally and everyone though that was a brilliant part of the original story.

I like how Liam was so charmed by Ashley’s cuteness in her presentation that he totally missed the fact that Marquita Picata was a bad person from the start. Matt looked like the most pissed of 3 year old with a full grown beard that absolutely does NOT want to go to bed when his recording started, I snort-laugh-cried And I have no idea what Sam took but oh my god
When Ashley isn't narrating, everyone thinks she was the one to modify the story. But as soon as she starts her story, it becomes a civil war between all the others about who forgot what. Love it
I felt sorry for him as he basically had Matt onwards adding each other's personalities into a snowball of a mess of themselves and side comments into the story acting instead of just the story itself.
Why do you think it went from fancy house to Extravagant Mansion once Taliesin started talking? and where do you think the idea for "The Happy Fun Ball" came from?
Ironically, Ashley said she went easy on them? Like, she had a harder story planned but took pity on them? That's adorable, Ash, but next round don't be afraid to unleash the Yasha within you on your friends! ^_^
But consider this: the fact that she told a simple story with a straightforward moral and they _still_ managed to mess it up makes it even more punishing.
I think what makes it more apparent that they messed up the story is the fact that there was so few details so there was more pressure to get them right.
I just now realized that EVERY time Liam has tried not only to retell the story but also to recreate the manner of the person before😂 actually super impressive
Ashley: Please ma'am, if you would be so kind as to spare some water and a place to rest my head, I would be ever so grateful. Matt & Laura: Excuse me. I am poor. I am homeless. I am new in town. Sam: I need food and water. Two (clap) Things (clap)
54:21 - Travis' reactions to his wife never cease to put a smile on my face. The little, "Marwy me." Fun buns were definitely the right way to go this episode!
It’s an old DM BSing technique. Cover up your stumbling by adding more detail & adjectives until the players think “you really thought this out” instead of “you’re flying by the seat of your pants”
My single favourite moment is Ashley watching Marisha step into her trap. Her eyebrows go up immediately - she knows what's happening and the joy is palpable. So good.
Purple Jewel Cake Ingredients: Purple gem dust - 1/2 cup + 1/4 cup Bicardi - 3 oz. Apple-bottom jeans - 1 pair, finely ground Fun Buns - 2, medium sized Wish - 1/2 Confusion - 1/2 cup Water - 1/2 cup Pineapple - 1/2 medium sized, sliced into rings - Step 1: In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine apple-bottom jeans, 1/2 cup purple gem dust and 1/2 a wish. Stir gently to combine. Step 2: Add the 1/2 cup of confusion, making sure to incorporate well and break up any clumps Step 3: Add the wet ingredients, continuing to gently stir until small bubbles begin to form in batter Step 4: Pour batter into medium sized circular baking pan, making sure batter is spread evenly all the way to the sides of the pan Step 5: Place on center rack in oven preheated to 450F for approximately 30 minutes, checking at 25 minutes Step 6: Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup purple gem dust evenly across top of cake. Failure to immediately sprinkle will fail to produce a perfectly mirrored sheen Step 7: Lay sliced pineapple evenly across top of cake Step 8: Place fun buns on top as decoration - Allow to cool for at least 1 hour before serving or refrigerating
Sean Wadey just make the recipe multiple times to make multiple cakes then you can stack them. Remember to sprinkle the remaining dust before you stack or else it will taste unevenly

Just a suggestion for the critical role store that i think would be amazing, once everyone has done a story, make a short story book that looks like a childrens story book with all of the stories in it along with fanart for some of the scenes, id buy it in a heartbeat because these are fantastic
What you do is release seven different versions of the story book, each book contains the seven stories told from each member of critical role. So Matt's is all cinematic and beautiful and Sam's edition is barely comprehensible.
You could also offer a smaller, more ragged-looking version as a supplement, containing transcripts of the final, 7th telling of the stories -- all laid out just like the first book, but with the formatting somewhat askew -- and its art could be done by the same artists in the same places, but warped-looking and distorted! 😝
I just thought "sated" would have been the more appropriate conjugation of "sate" for that context :P (Although in hindsight "quenched" would be more idomatic for thirst, not hunger.

Star Sam is smart with it tho he messes it up so bad most people would assume he’s doing it on purpose
Pike's ending was a panic trap to make everyone forget the story, and I love it! She learned a trick from Sam.
What was the trick that sam did? i remember a straightforward story crammed with details.
i think you mean laura, who said "and the Traveller told me more stories but ill tell you another time :3" which everyone said made them panic because they thought they were about to get a whole new story
Pike is a Monstah.
@@GoldenJayTime Actually the beauty of that is that Laura _didn't_ do that, it just emerged naturally and everyone though that was a brilliant part of the original story.
Ashley is an evil genius and I love it.
Sam's pike scares me.
Not my Pike. New campaign slogan.
Sam's Pike is actually a Tracy.
that was truly terrifying
Ashley: "Markita Perkata"
The gang: "Marquise de Barcadi, got it"
I love you all! :D
Travis got it right...... Kind of.
I figured it was either going to end up "Picard"or "Bacardi"
I was low-key hoping for Hakuna Matata
If Sam doesn't have Pigtail Matt on his shirt when Critical Role comes back, I'm going to be very disappointed.
Mat looked a little like Ladybeard (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladybeard), it made me smile.
@@emerje0 wow I really did not expect to see that today
He won't have it yet. He needs to let that bomb tick away for a bit before dropping it
HE DID IT! HE DID IT! HE DID IT!
@@AshenSmokescreen And I'm very far from disappointed
I love how everyone just blames Travis for the lack of a recipe
His laugh was so great as he, live, realizes what Ashley did and what it means and how it is gonna go.
Insert Marisha:
when Laura's video came up he looked at her and said "you better not throw me under the bus either"
@@druid_zephyrus I thought that was him saying Ooh because he realsied what to say and then remembered that he was meant to say Ooh.
@@druid_zephyrus got to marisha at the end and was like "don't do it don't do it, it's a trap....she did it, well this will be interesting" lol
Well apparently Liam pretending to be Laura pretending to be Ashley pretending to be Pike is the recipe for perfectly reproducing Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker! And that's the real recipe here.
I can't unsee this
(TO THE TUNE OF HAKUNA MATATA)
Markita Bacardi, What a wonderful name.
Markita Bacardi, Aint no pauper dame.
shes was nasty, but her money went on for daaaays.

Markita Bacardi..
Now this is brilliant. ❤️

You’ve won the comments
I read this and received inspiration irl. Bards represent!
Roll a d4 inspiration
I like how Liam was so charmed by Ashley’s cuteness in her presentation that he totally missed the fact that Marquita Picata was a bad person from the start. Like, he genuinely was subconsciously going through thinking that nobody could be mean with Pike’s mannerisms, and the others “made her mean”, and nobody could convince him otherwise.
Excuse me, I’m poor. I am thirsty. I grant wishes. I’m new in town.
Is this a John Mulaney reference? Please tell me it is....
No no, don’t start with the wish. Build to that. First imma push her.
LMAOOO John Mulaney would be proud

@@OhHeyMarc fucking died
Laura as Vex telling Travis “its okay Grog,” when he gets overwhelmed by Pike’s cuteness is EVERYTHING
It's at 1:16:30 :)
@@Karreth thank you, somehow i missed it. I was hoping someone would time stamp it
Matt looked like the most pissed of 3 year old with a full grown beard that absolutely does NOT want to go to bed when his recording started, I snort-laugh-cried
And I have no idea what Sam took but oh my god
When Ashley isn't narrating, everyone thinks she was the one to modify the story. But as soon as she starts her story, it becomes a civil war between all the others about who forgot what. Love it
I love how Taliesin just crumbles when they hear Ashley telling the story...
'All of this is new information!'
'What did I do???!!!'
I felt sorry for him as he basically had Matt onwards adding each other's personalities into a snowball of a mess of themselves and side comments into the story acting instead of just the story itself.
Laura Bailey has turned a bunch of professional voice actors into people who can only do Jester's voice XD
Every time Tal is in a different room and it is NOTHING like the previous rooms
Every time he records from a different dimension
Why do you think it went from fancy house to Extravagant Mansion once Taliesin started talking?
and
where do you think the idea for "The Happy Fun Ball" came from?
He lives in The House of Leaves, and has explored every room
@@clownsoftheearth holy shit thats such a cool way of looking at it
He records from his own Room of Requirement.
Ironically, Ashley said she went easy on them? Like, she had a harder story planned but took pity on them? That's adorable, Ash, but next round don't be afraid to unleash the Yasha within you on your friends! ^_^
I assume the original actually had her doing the recipe.
Travis did a really good job, but the story makes it seem like he messed up the end which threw everyone else off
But consider this: the fact that she told a simple story with a straightforward moral and they _still_ managed to mess it up makes it even more punishing.
@@evansaschow That was 100% on purpose. Ashley is more evil than we think
I think what makes it more apparent that they messed up the story is the fact that there was so few details so there was more pressure to get them right.
Ashley and Pike are the living embodiment of girl who says bruh vs girl who says haiiiiiii
Plot twist: girls who say both
Matt: Jamedi Cosko
Everyone else: Yes, Jumanji Costco
Ashley: Marquita Parcata
Everyone else: Yes, Margarita Bacardi
Liam: Marquita Picard. *Number One!*

Ashley: "who cares?? that is the LEAST of our worries right now."
ashley continues to absolutely wreck 😂😂🤣
I just now realized that EVERY time Liam has tried not only to retell the story but also to recreate the manner of the person before😂 actually super impressive
This one ended up creepy.
He's Method.
That's his thing, for sure
His empathy ability has to be just off the charts to do what he does as well as he does.
These guys should do a D&D show together, they all get along so well
who'd watch that?
Mauricio Gatgens Ummm... not sure. Don’t think it’d do well. No one watches TH-cam vids over 20 minutes.
That sounds pretty niche, don't know if itd be that popular
Yeah... who’d even DM?
LMAO
Doctor: Sam's Pike isn't real, it can't hurt you.
Sam's Pike:
Sam's Pike genuinely scared me.
The little, "Marwy me."
Fun buns were definitely the right way to go this episode!
Everyone “hi, it’s pike trickfoot, not jester”
I love how, when Matt started panicking, he added MORE DETAIL to the story 😂
It’s an old DM BSing technique. Cover up your stumbling by adding more detail & adjectives until the players think “you really thought this out” instead of “you’re flying by the seat of your pants”
It is such a mistake to let him tell a story so early because he add so much everybody after have to be confused XD
Fake it till you make it 😂🤣
And his sidebar comments ^_^ so good!
Ashley: Hi! You all made fun of me not remembering and getting it right?
Let me tell you a story...
Everyone else: well crap.
Can we appreciate how well Travis actually retold the story? He got practically everything right
My single favourite moment is Ashley watching Marisha step into her trap. Her eyebrows go up immediately - she knows what's happening and the joy is palpable. So good.
Travis retelling the story so well I was like "hey they might pull this one out!"
Two people later " I don't even know why I had hopes"
Purple Jewel Cake
Ingredients:
Purple gem dust - 1/2 cup + 1/4 cup
Bicardi - 3 oz.
Apple-bottom jeans - 1 pair, finely ground
Fun Buns - 2, medium sized
Wish - 1/2
Confusion - 1/2 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Pineapple - 1/2 medium sized, sliced into rings
-
Step 1: In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine apple-bottom jeans, 1/2 cup purple gem dust and 1/2 a wish. Stir gently to combine.
Step 2: Add the 1/2 cup of confusion, making sure to incorporate well and break up any clumps
Step 3: Add the wet ingredients, continuing to gently stir until small bubbles begin to form in batter
Step 4: Pour batter into medium sized circular baking pan, making sure batter is spread evenly all the way to the sides of the pan
Step 5: Place on center rack in oven preheated to 450F for approximately 30 minutes, checking at 25 minutes
Step 6: Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup purple gem dust evenly across top of cake. Failure to immediately sprinkle will fail to produce a perfectly mirrored sheen
Step 7: Lay sliced pineapple evenly across top of cake
Step 8: Place fun buns on top as decoration
-
Allow to cool for at least 1 hour before serving or refrigerating
Additional step: Blame someone else for the mess in your kitchen and make them clean up.
I have the Apple-bottom jeans, but can I add Boots with the Fur for extra flavour?
@@kiddo6393 Yes, but you'd have to double the amount of water to a full cup to prevent the mix from drying out.
But I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a layered cake, how do change the cooking instructions for that?
Sean Wadey just make the recipe multiple times to make multiple cakes then you can stack them. Remember to sprinkle the remaining dust before you stack or else it will taste unevenly
The whole cast took radiant damage after watching Ashley's video
Ashley, you evil genius, adding that bit to the end of the story knowing how it would turn out down the line.
🤔 I wonder if she actually did have a recipe there at one time -- you know, to mess with everyone -- but had to cut it for time.
i love taliesin just in a constant state of dying from cuteness all throughout ashleys video. he's ancient and immortal but not immune to baby pike and i love it
"a magical place called Marquet"
Matts mind has stopped working
Wasn't Marquet the place where they meet the Meatman? And where they got the Spice?
Travis with the "City of Marquet" was bad enough, you could see Matt's reaction
Everything is legal in Marquette
Marquette is more technological as far as I could tell.
Marquet is like Africa, where it's an entire continent but too many people treat it like it's just one country... or city in this case.
Me after Ashley's: "hm, the recipe thing is an odd framing device, im sure nothing will come of it"
After everyone else: "...clever girl"
RIGHT?! It was such an evil twist. XD
Can we talk about Matt’s low key shade for plot points in the story that don’t make sense. It’s adorable like the Storyteller in him can’t let it go.
It’s weird that he had a problem with the wish-granting kid being unable to make food for herself. It’s a really common trope in stories for a powerful being to make a mundane request from mortals to test their kindness.
@@captain_eaglefort Usually, though, the being gives no hint of their true nature until they finally reveal themselves at the end.
In this one, the girl explicitly says she can grant a wish, but isn't ever shown to be anything other than a young girl.
I was just noticing that lmao, he did it with the kids not running away from the crone in liam's story too
That is why his story telling is so good: because nothing isnt accounted for in every hook and line. It is also why he weeps in insanity.

Travis on critical role is amazing with accents but here he can do like 3 voices and all sound vaguely eastern European, mockingly french or like how you talk to a cute dog. I love it.

I love how quickly this episode descended into "the blame game".
Esp since the moral of the original story was to be kind to other people.
Ashley knew exactly what was going to happen when she said "Oh I forgot the recipe"
4:06 the little "yep" KILLS ME. Also I LOVE during the viewing when everyone says "oh, it's the SIZE of an apple" and Ashley says "oh no" as she realizes how fucked up this is gonna get.
Ashley:
Sam: 👁👄👁💅✨👖🍎
Sam has that valley girl energy that is so far removed from Pike's adorable sweetness that it just had me laughing.
54:59 "I'm here to tell you a story about... _oh no."_
That one clip could sum up this entire show
Just love how Taliesin is like "Sam's always been a agent of chaos, its Sam's fault". Too good
Pike: "Don't forget to love each other."
I just noticed; The white book to the right of Liam says "Marisha Ray's Guide to Accents". 😂
Liam's Folder has had a new joke in everything he's streamed in These Uncertain Times(tm), but his webcam quality is often too rough to catch it. I'm sure someone out there (cough*critrolestats*cough*) has them all recorded.
I have not once been able to find the joke but I know it's there... Somewhere... Mocking me.
Once it read "Laura Bailey fanclub minutes"
I love how Liam is always trying to not only regurgitate the details of the story but also trying to imitate the person that went before him too. xD
The contrast between Ashley as angelic, soft spoken Pike in this video and yelling in a booming russian man voice "HELLO I AM JESTER" is... incredible
matt just making shit up as a defense mechanism is perfect
That's kind of his whole life! And we love him for it.
Just a suggestion for the critical role store that i think would be amazing, once everyone has done a story, make a short story book that looks like a childrens story book with all of the stories in it along with fanart for some of the scenes, id buy it in a heartbeat because these are fantastic
This is an amazing idea honestly! I hope more people/the cast see(s) this!
What you do is release seven different versions of the story book, each book contains the seven stories told from each member of critical role. So Matt's is all cinematic and beautiful and Sam's edition is barely comprehensible.
@@quinnsinclair7028 oh my gods, yes. That needs to be a thing.
You could also offer a smaller, more ragged-looking version as a supplement, containing transcripts of the final, 7th telling of the stories -- all laid out just like the first book, but with the formatting somewhat askew -- and its art could be done by the same artists in the same places, but warped-looking and distorted! 😝
