to be fair, Brennan didn't break Lou, Lou broke himself because he RP'd so hard and realized mid-speech to the warlocks that he was making a really, REALLY bad move, but he was fully in character and committed to it.
the bit after the tactical late guys where brennan just says “this guy’s got 3/4 cover” is truly the cherry on top of a great bit
The way that Brennan knows Ally so well that he could have the crew set up a custom setpiece and dome graphic specifically for a bit that he knows Kristen's going to commit to even with everyone else on the verge of death

There's this part of Unsleeping City chapter 2 where Ally's character grows a beard of feathers and the captions say Ally featherBeardsley and it lives in my head and my heart rent free. I need the captioning team to know I you and I love you
also the transcripts of all the captions make it so easy to look bits and moments up I love you dropout caption team 💛💛💛💛
There's also a moment in Unsleeping City where the players are talking while Brennan rolls dice and it says "(Brennan rolling too many dice)" 😂
i do appreciate them so much however the captions for old D20 seasons can be so so horrible 😭
@madelyn1758 "it's two sides of the same coin," but honestly, I think until around Starstruck, it could be pretty hit or miss. I know sophomore year is fairly atrocious with the captions, but the last several seasons of every show on Dropout have just been, like amazing. Like a parallel joke, I would call it. It enhances each show so so so much.
If this season of Fantasy High were a house, it would only have sliding glass doors and exposed shelving, that's how unhinged it is

On god. Starstruck Odyssey was what I would've considered the funniest season for a LONG time, but it's so easily supplanted by Junior Year and we aren't even DONE yet lmao

idk though, Misfits & Magic is also really, really funny; Evan Kelmp has several masterstroke deliveries and Aabria is so outstanding at teeing things up and then reacting to them both in and out of NPC character 😂 Junior Year and Starstruck are both funnier if the cast themselves breaking is weighted highly, but if it's more about how hard you laugh whether they are or not, it's maybe a bit tighter of a race to call? 🤷♂️😁

I love how the best way for Brennan to break Zac was by giving the exact kind of response Zac would give if the roles were reversed. No lore or monologue, just comedy sniping gold 😂

Everything to do with Fabian and the Bill Cultists kills me every time. You can tell Lou knows everything he’s doing is the dumbest, most dangerous thing he could possibly be doing but it’s so in character he has to follow through, and nothing has made me laugh harder than the “he said he was gonna shit in my MOUTHHH” breakdown where Lou was laughing so hard explaining everything that it made Fabian sound like he was absolutely sobbing.
The vulture dimension was the biggest 1000000IQ chess move Brennan has ever pulled off as DM. It’s such a perfect encapsulation of how well he knows the heroes

The look on Lou's face as the Bad Kids are stolen away to the vulture dimension is, and I don't say this lightly, a true masterpiece of somatic emotion. I hesitate to even call it acting because it was simply so true to how I imagine Lou must have been feeling in that moment. Genuinely one of the greatest things I've ever seen--not the funniest, not the most moving, not even particularly memorable. It's just _good,_ to a remarkable degree.
Fully Convinced that his mission now to break all the intrepid heroes each combat. It started with Murph, then Emily, then Zac.
And they all have completely different senses of humor too

Fig being like "look what happened, you did that, you just did all that" to the shrimp elemental really got me 😂
ik you meant 'the fire elemental who was holding the shrimp' but for a split second i imagined an elemental whose element was shrimp and was made out of shrimp 10/10 lovin it

I love that when Zac breaks, he laughs so hard that it's just quiet. No sound coming out at all. That's the kind of laugh that makes it hard to breathe.
I was right there with Murph on the tactical & late yorbies. That battle was so long and difficult, the whole party was mentally exhausted. They already won, they were literally just cleaning up. They were absolutely DONE. The fact that two enemies were just lying there waiting to jump out with brutal efficiency just to move the finish line back like two inches is so freaking absurd

I will say that the vulture dimension bit does seem to get her pretty good. Not as much as other people in the other clips, but she does seem to be rendered speeches for a moment
Siobhan's moment was in Neverafter when Brennan was giving the speech as the mouse (I think) from Cinderella's story about the existential horror of getting turned into a footman.

I love how what makes Brennan breaks is often his friends breaking as well. Both with Murph and Zac this season Brennan is so surprised and genuinely happy he breaks as well.

Lou disassociating at the beginning of the Vulture Dimension at the end of ep8 was what really got to me

Breaking Murph with the tactical but late Yorbies is something that goes through my brain like, 2 or 3 times a day unprompted. One of the greatest moments of comedic timing ever.

I've watched the vulture dimension scene so many times because everybody has such a great reaction to it and you really have to watch everybody's face. It's really the best.

my boyfriend introduced me to dimension 20 via this series in november last year, & i’m so glad he did, because not only did it teach me more about d&d, it brought me into this amazing show & world 🥰 we’re currently going through season 3 & i’ll be so sad when it ends 😭

I always forget because I usually only see clips of it, but Fabian’s almost demise and rallying the cult was all done LIVE. Meaning no producer could try and stop and be like “Hey, maybe don’t kill off one of the main characters, someone who is very much beloved by the entire fan base.”

The shrimp kind of pisses me off a little bit. Its just such a contrived railroad
From what I understand about Fig's Bardics at the time of the episode is that anyone who used her Bardics needed to roll a saving throw against her spell save or be struck with horribly bad luck as a result of the curse she unlocked in episode one. Cassandra rolled a 2 on the die, so even with a +10 to the save, she failed to resist it and being knocked out was the effect.
Adaine would take a Bardic in a later episode and also be knocked unconscious by the bad luck that followed, so really, everything leading up to Cassandra getting knocked out was effectively flavor text.
I think the only other time I’ve seen Zac been broken so completely was by Izzy in Coffin Run, awwww
