The biggest lesson. “Just feeding small quantities for a good hour before I start. “. It’s a great lesson to everyone. We all struggle to allow the fish to get their confidence but it’s a perfect lesson and essential in small narrow rivers. Thanks again my mr Crabtree.
Hi my friend I want to thank you for all the great fishing you’ve given us all. Sorry to here about ur health, and you going into the hospice. God bless you always and tight lines my friend. Big massive hugs xxx
Just been watching some of ur old vids, wot a pleasure to watch an everyday angler like most of us.As u say Bill it's about enjoyment not 4 days on a carp lake for 1 fish .Keep up the great work. Ordinary anglers love them.tight lines buddy.stay safe.
No ' scoffing' about any fish like that bill, brilliant to see you out and about again , great video as always, you just take it steady as we say in Yorkshire 'Tawd lad'. I just wish I had a small stream like that to fish but we make do with what we have, your videos in particular teach us all how to fish many different types of waters I commend you for that.
Hi thank you for your nice comment. I am surprised that you don’t have access to any small streams, I would have thought that there were a few becks and tributaries in Yorkshire! I find that these days they are mostly ignored as anglers frequent commercial fisheries more and more. Mind you my local Gt Ouse is hardly fished which as it offers miles of good fishing is surprising. My gain as it means I have the river to myself. Regards Bill
Hi Bill good to see you out and about you take it easy it's all part of fishing missing bites the barbel you caught was a nice fish , the video was very enjoyable like all of your videos are tight lines Bill till next time.
Bill, it's lovely to hear the birdsong, to me it'll always be part of the pleasure of fishing, and I love your kind and gentle handling of the fish, always the sign of a true fisherman! I was driving home from fishing last year and picked up a young man who was hitching and holding a car saying he wanted to get to Worthing { which was on my way home to Brighton anyway} so I picked him up! He was quiet for about five minutes and then suddenly said 'How do you know you haven't picked up a homicidal maniac'? I was suprised by his sudden outburst, but I have a weird sense of humour and replied 'What are the odds of that? what are the odds that there could be two of us in the same car'? Then I glanced at him and winked very slowly and gave him a bit of a mad stare for second or two! He went very quiet and when we got the the outskirts of Worthing he asked to be dropped off by the next bus stop, which I did! He was out of the car like a scalded whippet, he muttered 'thanks' and went off towards the bus shelter pretty quickly. All the way home I kept expecting to hear police car sirens behind me and getting stopped by armed police or something, but of course I wasn't! When I got home I told my wife and daughter about it and as usual it was all my fault for scaring an innocent young lad half to death, and my sense of humour was going to get me arrested one of these days, and it would serve me right! That's a true story Bill, but apparently, I'm the only one to find it even remotely funny according to my dear wife! Tight lines mate!
Love the video of the small stream fishing and yes you are right there's lots of small streams and Rivers, that go through local parks that are absolutely free to fish. And are choca with chub and the odd barbel. And walk past them every day and don't give them a second look. Keep the video coming
The variety of fishing on your videos is great, it's not constant Carp Fishing in Commercial Fisheries like many others. I realise your problem, I just wish there was some way that you could shield your Mic from some of the traffic noise. Thanks.
Lovely bit of fishing Bill, I used to fish a lot of places like that but over the years access has become harder and harder, good to see you enjoying yourself.
Hi you are so right and it’s a shame. I have noticed someone has been putting stakes in the middle of the river, festooned with private no fishing signs. However I may challenge that. Bill
Lovely session I care not for the weight either Bill its all about the enjoyment for me. I'm off out tomorrow taking one of my sons for a session need to get the next generations on the fishing bug.
Would love to have small streams near me with fish in them. Even the river near me gets polluted at least once a month. Take advantage of them whilst you can.
boboneleg Hi thanks. It is a beautiful tiny river but sadly the fishing rights are being lost, private no fishing signs springing up all over it. It’s so sad. Bill
Hi Bill Another great watch. Been watching you're how to's for a while now and think I've watched them all, have learnt a great deal. Appreciate your time and knowledge. Tight Lines Fella.
Hi I try to show people how to catch more fish with simple tackle and baits, and it gives me great pleasure knowing I have helped you, and others. Bill
Hello Sir, its great to see you out and catching, I have a river that size behind my home here in Ireland. Strange, it now seems more noteworthy and interesting. We hope you are in good form, your always interesting and as a returning angler a great font of knowledge and advice. I have a 10foot waggles rod set up now in my garage waiting for the rain to stop. If you are ever short of vlog topics could you do one on keeping maggots fresh. I have been toying with the idea of a beer fridge but as yet undecided. Take care of yourself, regards Grumpy
Hi glad you enjoyed the video. I will try to fit in some more sessions on small streams and rivers because these type of venues are what I like! Trouble is there are so many venues and species I want to target. Bill
Lovely video Bill. I find when after Chevin as a whole is not to hair rig. Bait directly onto the hook is better. You will hook straight into them most of the time. The Red Range rods for the money are super rods.
Great video Bill I haven't been fishing this season due to limb amputation But now I got a wheel chair my son's gonna push me down to the local river so I can catch a nice chub or barbel tonight .
Smon Clark I’m sorry to hear of your loss of your leg. I had my lower leg torn of in a hit n run accident but fortunately the surgeons managed to re attach it, but I’ve had 8 operations and it still gives me trouble! So going fishing is a great therapy and you WILL find a way around your limb loss. You might find that the places you go will be dependant on access which is why so much of my fishing is in urban venues, but adapt and you will find a way to catch fish and enjoy yourself! Bill
15ft Wide and left than a foot deep ! There's some clonkers in the tiny tributaries ! Enjoyable as per ! Tight lines bill ! Sunday morning I'm being dragged around shopping with the wife !!!!! So sitting on a bench in the town centre ! It's just making me want to leg it ! Fetch the car and get out fishing ! It's gotta be worth giving her the Taxi money to get home ! Cheers mate tight lines (oh and it's worth the aggro !!!! It's got to be worth upsetting one old Trout to catch a beautiful fresh little brownie !!!! Ps I didn't mean that last bit about the Mrs and that Trout ? What a ment was I will go and catch a BIG TROUT ! Tight lines Bill ! ALWAYS A PLEASURE NEVER A CHORE !
Hi well small streams etc are neglected because people think there no fish worth worth catching. Those that try clump down the bank plonk a heavy box down destroy the bank side vegetation then blank and say there are no fish. It just needs a different approach and while not all hold big fish enough do to make the effort worth it. Bill
News Clash Hi well I don’t know where you live but barbel have been stocked all around the UK. Go ask in your local tackle shop, if you have one or look in the where to fish sections of the angling press. If you catch one treat it with care as they give there all in the fight. Make sure the fish is held in the water until it recovers and swims away under its own steam. Let me know if you manage to catch one. Bill
Go on Bill It's the Middle of winter/NEW YEARS EVE And we are watching you on a small Stream listening to the a Black Bird Singing I can wait for summer ! Not a fair weather fisherman its just I want to target Trout,Roach and anything in a river that's been turned around by the TROUT and Salmon Trust : )
I have just found this site; what a beautifully scenic spot. I'm in Western Australia..Are these freshwater fish edible, or are they very bony. No I'm not much of a fisherman, but enjoy watching others fish
Hi nice to hear from you. I don’t have access to much barbel fishing and that’s a shame, A beautiful stream which looked like a miniature Avon near me was stocked by the EA in 1991, I think, and I watched the fish mature and enjoyed catching them, but now it’s a syndicate, so that’s another water gone for me! Now while I don’t know what part of the country you live in, but if you can travel it’s worth the effort, trust me. Bill
Easy Fishing thanks bill glad your back on bank, 🎣 catching lovely fish, yeah river seven is close but do hear it’s gets a bit hammered, where I fish, I see know one, used to having the river to my self, it has no big fish but plenty of roach and perch, might do fishing holiday on seven, want to catch a barbel thanks for replying look forward to your next video 😬👍🏻
I once delivered to industrial unit round back of woking, There was a tiny tributary of a tributary stream alongside. . Sat with my flask for 10 mins. . Watching huge chub in the clear stream full of pallets andcpaint tins shopping trolleys etc Nobody fish there ☺ . .
pmay222 Hi just seen your comment and as I know the Woking area very well I bet that was a tributary of the Hoe Stream. I went back to try and fish there but it was so overgrown I couldn’t get to the water but did see some very big chub in there! Next summer it’s on with the chesties and try for them, providing I can actually get in the river! Bill
alanrtment porter Hi not so familiar with Old Woking but I fished at Send on the pits and the Wey and the canal.Huge eels I that canal! Fished Pyrford and the Hoe thru Woking to the old Walkers factory. Even caught fish from the few fishable lengths of the Basingstoke canal! Didn’t recognise the area when I visited this summer. Shame used to be some fantastic fishing in the area. Bill
Easy Fishing thanks for the info bill, love the look of that river, I find it amazing how such quality and decent size fish come from such a small stream. All the best, Jack

Thank you Bill nice to see back on the bank. Lovely fish, thanks for the tips. When I go fishing No time for when I’m going home. 👍👌
Lovely video Bill. I find when after Chevin as a whole is not to hair rig. Bait directly onto the hook is better. You will hook straight into them most of the time. The Red Range rods for the money are super rods.
Hi mostly I would agree but sometimes hair rigs score. I think that it depends on the bait and how the chub are feeding on the day. Bill
Bill I enjoy watching your vblogs you are less pretensious the the more famous angling faces👍
Said it before bill I’m a matchman but your channel is my favourite fishing channel always dream venues in my opinion 👍🏻
Hi and thank you. You will understand that most anglers steer clear of this type of venue. Bill
It’s been a pleasure watching you keep them coming

Hardly enoughwater to soak your bread in! Fantastic
huttonista dav Hi well these little shallow streams get overlooked which suits me. You just have to use tactics and bait to suite the river. Bill
That suits me just fine, too.
interesting Bill I got a small stream near me so ill give it a go well worth watching as normal A1
Hi go for it. You can never tell what small streams hold. You may get a fish of a lifetime! Bill
those are some nice fish. I've read so much about brown trout where you fish. Do you ever get any fishing for chub and perch?
great to see you back on the bank tight lines billy boy

2 foot twitch lol You funny Bill but good
Well that is what those bites are known as! Usually caused by the fish picking the bait up and swimming downstream, Bill

The only freshwater fish worth eating are Perch and Eels. Most everything else is like cotton wool stuffed with needles.
