A nice simple method fishing a pole rig, for sensitivity, off the rod top. Anyone can do this with a shop bought pole rig. You don’t need a centre pin reel, I was just using one for the sheer pleasure of it. Just like I used to use as a boy but the rod in those days was a garden cane with rod rings made from safety pins!
James Archer Hi well a couple off points. Match your float and rig to your bait and target species. For carp using bigger baits you can use a thicker bristle but for finicky fish like roach, crucians etc use a finer tip and ‘ dot ‘ the tip down. As you will be fishing very close in you will have no problem seeing the float. I often make up the rig on my reel line so there no extra knots, with or without a hooklength. Also you can use them on flowing waters, I did that yesterday on a small stream very happily. Now if you are using an actual separate rig, like a ready made rig I just tie them to the reel line with a 5 turn uni knot. Don’t try casting these light rigs they are for fishing close in. I hope this helps Bill
James Archer Hi well I wouldn’t use them in situations where I needed to cast. I suppose you could cast a heavier pole float but the only time I do that is when I am fishing flowing water with a long rod 15 ft plus then I fish them like a stick float. For this I normally use a 6 mtr ‘bolo’ rod. I would normally not cast them but use them for close range work if I wanted a running line instead of using a pole. Hope this helps Bill
The Mere in Diss is very beautiful lake wich can give you great fishing moments. Ill visit the lake very soon. Thank you for your video, great fishing.
Thanks for a lovely video. Second only to actually being there myself! Have visited 'Diss Mere' a couple of times, both without fishing tackle but with the missus instead (slaps forehead). Love the chilled way you fish, and the fact you get pleasure from any fish caught, perhaps like me, fish were smaller in waters I fished when very young and with no fishing mentor I often ended up catching nothing. Not like youngsters of today; I'll be sure to introduce my grandson to fishing catching little'uns, they are lovely to catch in their own right even at my age of approaching 60..
Hi Bill, Holton Pit just outside Halesworth in Suffolk is a very good day ticket venue. It holds tench, rudd, carp and crucians. There are some large carp in there but most are just below double figures. Loved the video.
Absolutely delightful to watch Bill as you know I love fishing with a centre pin and its a shame that a lot of other anglers don't give it a go. I look forward to the next one.
Hi, thank you. My fishing is geared towards the maximum pleasure. Now I admit that I can get my big fish head on sometimes, even a matchfishing head on odd occasions, but fishing should be about pleasure. I was watching a Tom Pickering video once when he stated he can’t go ‘ pleasure ‘ fishing only match fishing and that is so sad! Bill
gazellis1961 Hi the feeding is the secret and working how the fish want it on the day. Basic stuff really but much more important than expensive tackle! Bill
It's been a long time since i've done any coarse fishing, but thank you for the video Bill, you've got me back thinking about re-visiting my old haunts too.
You hit the nail on the head Bill trying to film, talk and fish, nightmare but when it works it's great nice bream Bill and that looked a great Crucian.
Hi Bish well you have found this out as well! But it makes a good video even more rewarding for me. Even if as on this occasion an expensive battery ended up in the water! Bill
Magic video Bill. Nothing better for me. Action at a rod or 2 lengths out and every fish a surprise. Where did you get the hooks from? If I could get them for the wife where the fish drop off without her touching them she'd come with me! Ha ha. Take care and enjoy your holiday.
Nice video Bill, agree wholeheartedly, progress isn't always for the better! Tried my Red range float rod and a feeder rod in a three hour session at my local pond a week or so ago, 3 bream 2-5 pound range on feeder and 3 roach 3-5 ounces on an insert waggler, missed a few as well.
Hi I’m glad you enjoyed the video. The 13 ft Red Range float rod is a lovely allrounder and I hope you go on to catch a lot of fish using it. Don’t be afraid to use it for bigger fish either. I have managed double figure carp on mine with no problem, sure it bends quite alarmingly but providing you are not fishing a snag filled peg it will cope. Bill
Nice video bill enjoyed it I'm lucky i have 3 great lakes by me that hold a fantastic head of crucians and carp bill try using the dynamite F1 pellet soak crucians love it mate great for dying your pellets yellow they standout big-time hope you enjoy your steak and ale pie my friend good to see you enoy your holiday bill Alien
Yes bill i agree with you crucians i use to fish for them when i was a boy and still do today bill I'm 62 now It's a shame the way all the streams and ponds have all disappeared i use to love these magical places loved them days the world was a much better place to live then bill wish them days would come back people had manners and respect for each other

@@easyfishing1936 I used to do lot of fishing round Wisbech used to go to a holiday park called Virginia lakes and button lake and fish the drains can remember there was some cracking perch in them drains
Chris's variety channel Hi they are a common uk fish and highly prized as the bigger ones are very wary and tricky to catch. The record is just over 4 lbs and any fish over 2 lbs is very special. Bill
Hello mate, I know this might appear odd to an American but coarse (freshwater fish) aren't eaten in the UK. Many many years ago carp were eaten (they're something of a delicacy in eastern Europe).
Great to see a lovely crucian. Really sad what has happened to so many small rivers and ponds. The 'gentrification' of the English countryside. Over exploitation of finite resources and thousands of acres of old farmland built on for the wealthy middle classes.
nice clips sir brilliant keep them coming :)
My wife and I enjoy watching your fishing videos, simple tactics and effective. Looking forward to others you upload.
Gary Price hi I’m glad you and your wife enjoy my video’s and health permitting will be posting plenty more. Bill
