  • @Deetroiter

    One of the most terrifying, and rewarding, experiences happened when I was learning to ride when little. I never rode anything bigger than a Suzuki rm80...then, I hopped on someone’s early 1980s Yamaha yz490...to say these two bikes are the opposite end of the universe is a severe understatement. I enjoyed the ride and survived. It’s all about the right hand and respecting the machine. Even to this day, would I let the right hand have it on the yz490? Hell no. That’s a wicked bike and demands respect at all times.
    I can imagine the hayabusa is the same idea. Very manageable and can be enjoyable but must be respected at all times, THAT is where the experienced part comes in. Knowing your limits and having the self control to stay within those limits

    So for those who don't know, really ANY bike made from Suzuki, and a couple others, in the past few+ years have a "power mode" A,B,C selector. A=Full Send, B=75-80%Power, C=50-60%Power. So anyone can start with a litter bike and with the aide of the computer and not get hurt. In my opinion the GSXR1000 is a masterpiece. Peace

    Josh is right - you cant beat an SV650 or any of the 650s in terms of all around fun and usability -- Busa is like a dragster, great for the strip, but imaging city riding on that thing, or even the twisty roads -- it just wouldn't be that much fun. It's a specialized machine and a beast at it.

    I own a gen2 2012. I love a gen2 2012. The gearbox is buttery smooth. It munches mile without a hitch. Granted it's the weight of a rodeo bull but once rolling turns into a comfortable and understanding beast. Riding at sane speeds the fuel consumption is good. Planning on lots of city riding put it down to B mode. Chances are if you have ever red lined this bike A/ you are being chased by the law. B/ you are planning to be chased by the law. It's a very well refined machine, pillion is comfortable with torque for days. Meaning it could easily take two most places without grumbling. The brakes can be sorted but stock ones are fine if you know how to apply a good f/b ratio. It can be a cruiser / it can be a cruise missile. Everything is in the wrist and mind. Great video always nice to see other rider reactions.

      I guess considered beginner compared to yammie but to some the "beginner" is pretty experienced

    • @benstech726
      @benstech726 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@andrewr2572 it's true riders of 10 years + will handle bikes with far more confidence (or fear, depending on their history with them) but it isn't the case he's a beginner. A beginner by definition would be new, nervous and stiff, and a bike wouldn't obey his expectations completely.
      After 2 years a rider should be on their way to relaxing their arms, positioning themselves for comfort and feel and deciding which line a bike takes based on their needs not on random chaos that beginners tend to suffer from.
      It could be seen from his riding he was still getting accustomed to the bike but was comfortable on 2 wheels. It's past the point of a beginner, regardless of who he is compared to.
      It doesn't really prove the point that someone new to riding can get on a busa and go no issues. Worst things like target fixation, panic braking, not looking where to go, awkward in slow maneuvers, bailing on a lean mid corner do happen and on a busa that can go worse given you'll unknowingly be doing higher speeds.

Weight, stability and torque are big pluses on longer rides.

    It's all easy and manageable until you roll on throttle too fast, downshift and clutch too quickly, or hit a bump that jiggles your throttle, and then you're dead. For anyone considering it, star with something SLOW to learn throttle control and smoothness.

    • @Ritalie
      @Ritalie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I switched from a 27 horsepower XS400cc to a 115 horsepower ZX-6R when I was 19, and the only problem is the stopping distance. Going fast doesn't cause an accident. Not being able to stop in time, is what kills people. That's why fast motorcycles kill people. Because they don't anticipate the stopping distance. A Hayabusa could effortlessly get to 150mph before hitting a turn, and then you're dead. The Hayabusa does have a button with 3 "speed levels" A, B & C. You can turn it to C, and it's a dog.

    this guy's impression is basically why i ride a liter bike for the street, i've always liked the racing look, but a 600 needs to hit mid to high rpm to make some decent power, while something like my r1 just has that low end grunt from like 3000rpm, i can only imagine how torque-y the busa is with those extra 300cc's. easy to pass vehicles, also more engine braking which is fun in traffic too.

    • @Ritalie
      @Ritalie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem with the 2nd generation Busa, is that it has lots of torque. But has horrendous gear ratios. It is geared for a race track, which doesn't make any sense. In top gear, the engine is turning about 4200 rpms at 70mph. I cannot understand why motorcycles don't come with an overdrive gear. They make an overdrive gear set for the Hayabusa. They also make different sprockets to make the top gear less obnoxious. All motorcycles are always under geared for some reason.

Not every advancement is achieved only by time. Maybe that dude has 1000 miles under his belt, doubt it though. I bought my CBR600 from a guy that put a few hundred miles on it in a year. I did that in a week.
