I just had surgery on Friday and they made me drink 10 ounces of propel an hour before I had to be at the hospital. They told me that it helps with the pain and the healing process.

I can’t believe they didn’t tell you to lay on a heating pad cuz it is sooo helpful for that gas pain. I’ve had several laparoscopic surgeries so I know how painful those gas pains are. I thought I was having a heart attack I had such awful gas pains that settled in my chest, upper back, and shoulders. I’m not sure why exactly but for some surgeries I had more gas pains than others. One time, for about 5 days after anytime I got out of bed & tried to walk around a bit, that awful gas pain would resume. I pretty much paid on that heating pad 24 hours a day for a long time. Glad you’re on the mend!

I am sorry that you had to go through everything that you did. I would like to respectfully correct you on some terms that you are using concerning what you had done. You in fact did have a total hysterectomy. A partial hysterectomy leaves the cervix. If they remove the ovaries, uterus and the cervix that is called a total hysterectomy with oophorectomy. The term hysterectomy means only the uterus, oophorectomy means removal of the ovaries. For example I had a total abdominal hysterectomy. Which means that my surgery was done with a large incision through my c section scar. My ovaries were left.

There was a time I took Pyridium daily. It numbs the nerve endings in your bladder. My urologist told me I have the most sensitive bladder nerves he’s ever seen and he’s been doing it for years. I’m on a pretty good treatment plan now for my interstitial cystitis but it’s awful! I also had air pumped into me for my tubal ligation and my whole body ached especially my shoulders for some odd reason!
I’m glad you are past all that. How often do you get ovary ultrasounds? The only way to check your ovaries is an ultrasound so do that yearly or every other year.

I had 3 C-sections prior to my LSH. My hysterectomy was WAAAAAYYYYY WORSE than any of my C-sections. I was down for 6 weeks after my hysterectomy

I got diagnosed with acute urinary retention 4 days ago and was sent home with a leg cath.....It is a week and 2 days before my hysterectomy. When I came home from the er, my period came.....So the cramps and bladder spasms are HORRIBLE..... I'm going to have the Cath taken out in 2 days, I can't wait until I have some relief before my surgery.....

Hello! Not to be to intrusive but did the partial hysterectomy have an effect on your desire to have to have “sexy” time? Or any other issues in that realm?

Not too much as far as libido, but it did effect my confidence about my body for a long time. Things were definitely different for a bit afterwards but it did get better!

There are women that have spontaneous uterine ruptures during their first labor. THEY DIDNT CHOOSE THAT. Choosing to VBAC is agreeing that risks are worth it. Choosing to VBAC without informing yourself of the BIGGEST risk does not mean you didn't choose it. You took a calculated risk and this was the outcome of your actions. Very sad, you did not deserve it. But lets not act like it was a random thing that happened to your body :(
