Been waiting for mine for over 9 months and was hoping you all would put out a video like this, thank you. I’d actually ask that you do more and stick with the rum mount start to finish with live fire and do another with the booster and another with direct thread, these aren’t cheap and I’m sure I’m not the only one who would like to see more of these, thanks again great work 👍🏼
Awesome!!!! Thank you for this video. I'm waiting for my Surge X to get out of NFA Jail, and will definitely get a OBSIDIAN 45 soon too. They are DEFINITELY Rugged!!!!😃
Very nice! Mine were 1 and 3 days in late April. Currently working on paper form 4’s to transfer them from individual to my trust. Sucks paying an extra $200 per can to get them faster….but I’m here for it with Biden bucks, they ain’t worth shit anyway.
The Surge X will be dedicated to a Savage 110 Precision Elite 6.5 Creedmoor. The Obsidian 45 will be moving around from an AR 15 in 450 BM, AR 15 350 Legend, and a Glock 19.
@@Ruggedsuppressors If I put a Rugged Universal Mount (R.U.M.) Stainless Steel, on my suppressor do I have to use one of the Rugged suppressor muzzle brakes for it to lock correctly or can I use my JMAC - MDI-CO 360HD 5/8-24 - HUB
The sudden huge increase in demand due to the new Form 4 approval times set us back temporarily for keeping everything in stock, however we are working as hard as possible to boost production capabilities while maintaining QC and we've been getting muzzle devices back in stock now.
If I put a Rugged Universal Mount (R.U.M.) Stainless Steel, on my suppressor do I have to use one of the Rugged suppressor muzzle brakes for it to lock correctly or can I use my JMAC - MDI-CO 360HD 5/8-24 - HUB
The Rugged Universal Mount is designed for our proprietary quick detach Dual Taper Locking System so you would need one of our muzzle devices with it. If you wanted to use the JMAC mount, it would thread directly into the suppressor and work like our Universal Direct Thread Mounts. ruggedsuppressors.com/product/universal-direct-thread-mount/
I can't get the RUM mount off my new Surge X. Am I understanding the process correctly? First insert the dual taper adapter tool into the RUM, then lock the locking collar. Then use the flats of the dual taper adapter tool to twist off with a wrench, lefty loosey?
I bought the micro 30, and have been fairly unhappy with the QD mount. No matter how much I tighten the can onto the mount on the rifle, it tend to loosen up after about 30-50 rounds of shooting. Kinda sucks, since there is no other mounting solution and I'm kinda stuck with it since it's a NFA item. Any advice? It has the dual taper. Maybe you guys could update the design. those two little pivoting arms are kinda hokey.
You should not have any issues with the can coming loose especially after 30-50 rounds. We'll do demonstrations/testing shooting all day long on various rifles/machine guns including the M240 without them coming loose. If you can send an email to info@ruggedsuppressors.com or give us a call 864-810-0513 we'll get you taken care of.
Myself and others have noticed the locking system binds up right before its fully tightened. If you use a strap wrench to push it over that little extra friction you can be sure it won't back off. With time it wears and gets easier to do.
One thing that was never mentioned on this video. Is the piston that comes with or you have to buy separate for the universal cage to mount on a pistol?
Good question, a piston is not included. We weren't sure exactly which piston customers would like or if they already would own one, so we decided not to include one in order to lower the price and not have anyone purchase something they don't need.
I wish i did more research i bought the rum mount thinking i could toss in a 3 lug without removing the universal threads i think this system needs work it should be set up that the universal cage goes into the rum mount ....im confused how the dual taper mount us different than the rum mount? I love the 360 ti ..its so light it feels fake but heavily disappointed in the rum mount
I am currently waiting on mine. If I am trying to put this on a 9mm PCC with a fixed threaded barrel... Could I use the universal direct thread mount to mount it on the PCC?
You could do a Universal Direct Thread Mount or Universal Cage and use a piston with a Fixed Barrel Spacer, however it will cost more to do it that way since you have to get 3 parts as opposed to one. Another popular option is to use a 3 lug which will be the fastest attachment method. You would need a 3 Lug Adapter (male part that goes on your PCC), 3 Lug Mount (female part) and Universal Cage to do that.
That way if you have a wrench set you don't have to purchase an additional 3/4. If you're using a vice it doesn't matter, however if you're at the range or don't have access to a vice you need to have a wrench on both ends. Using 3/4 and 11/16 allows you to do that with your standard wrench set.
With the RUM that comes with the standard Alaskan. How many degrees am i supposed to turn the lock to know that it’s locked. Also is it normal for the suppressor to be loosen by hand off the muzzle when the collar is in locked position? It’s my 3rd suppressor & first rugged. I love it so far. Just need to understand the rugged RUM system better.
To go from fully unlocked to fully locked the collar rotates 1/2 turn. If the collar isn't rotating smoothly try some permatex high-temp anti-seize on the inside of the collar that should help smooth it up, that worked best for me and won't burn off since it's good up to 1600f. The locking system is enough to keep the can from unthreading by itself (big emphasis on by itself) but yeah if you grab it and try to unthread it while the collar is locked you can unthread it enough to un-lock the front taper and maybe a little bit more but then it will stop. Basically with the collar locked it's not going to walk off even if the front taper gets broken loose for some reason. Hope that helps!
It's about a half turn, as long as No Go is covered up when the suppressor is attached you're good to go. The Dual Taper System utilizes a friction lock, so it is possible to manually twist the suppressor when it's lock, however it should not unthread while firing.
So I bought the 360 Alaskan suppressor and just got it from its mail but now I’m supposed to buy the additional mounting systems? I just bought the qd mount $100 !!!!! And that’s for one rifle and now I’m supposed to buy more stuff so it can switch between various rifles and pistols ? Not very impressed quite honestly. It should have came with the cage and one qd mount at least.
The Alaskan360 comes with a $249 universal mount. There are so many calibers and platforms to cover, we feel that including a mount would be most always the one the customer didn't need/want.
register your can before you buy muzzle devices. after you register you can buy 4 muzzle brakes for 100 directly from rugged. I also wish I had known this sooner as I bought some full price muzzle devices before I realized they had the paragon program.
At 4:45 he uses a 3/4" socket. I don't have a RUM mount but for direct thread mounts, which only offer flats, not a proper socket face, a 7/8" socket will do.
So you never actually covered the 3 lug, you went into a lot of detail about everything else, and never showed the 3 lug, I assume you follow the same process as the booster system and that I will need the universal cage.
To mount the Alaskan to a handgun you will need to install the universal cage and then the booster into the cage Universal Cage + 3 Lug mount 9mm + 3 Lug Adapter 9mm This is a quick detach option designed for installing and removing the suppressor quickly without having to thread it down every time for pistol calibers up to 9mm.
Great video - these help a lot and are much appreciated. Keep them coming for all your products.

Will a TI direct thread 1/2x28 ever be available? Same with a TI end cap for 5.56?

You can get the Obsidian Dual Taper Mount for your 300 BLK.
I own a rugged razor 762. Are these mounting options compatible with it? For instance is there a mount to run on a 9mm pdw or carbine? Tri lug?
9mm will not go through a .30 cal can without damaging the suppressor
Not true
They are not compatible, however the Razor762 does use the same Dual Taper Mounts as the R.U.M. The aperture on the Razor762 is too small for 9mm.
Will the universal cage fit the Obsidian 9?
It only fits the Alaskan series
Why ¾ and ¹¹/16 just make both ¾ u could use the wrench on both rather than needing 2 sizes that are ¹/16 apart
