The giant cat you saw at the end is indeed based on the Cheshire cat, it's bayonetta's stuffed animal which coincidentally was named Cheshire by her and it was her only friend until she met Jeanne. We aren't sure why Viola (the blond with the sword) has it though.
It belonged to her mother ;)

When Viola was first teased so many people thought it was Vergil. Sorry folks, Enzo is still the only DMC character in Bayonetta.

There's also Bayonetta concept art of Enzo in Rodin's bar playing poker with someone who seems to be Dante, since the art features a red coat and a strawberry sundae, Dante's favorite dessert. A nice way to reference his obscure appearance in DMC.

The puppy thing you saw at 2:30 is called “Lappy“, and it’s the mascot from Astral Chain. When this trailer was released, many (including me) believed we‘d be getting Astral Chain 2. But after seeing it to be a trailer for Bayonetta 3, I wasn’t complaining. Super fun video, really happy you guys decided to check out some more Bayonetta. I really love this game series, they‘re just so fun, and full of sass and spunk.

BTW funny Dog Mascot suit you see in a second trailer is from other game from Platinum - ASTRAL CHAIN.
Astral Chain itself focuses on a story of Futuristic Police Force fighting against invasion of Other Dimensional Threat - beasts called "Chimeras" - which corrupt anything they touch converting it into matter from their dimension and can only be fought off either with use of equipment coated in specific frequency fields (Hence most common weapon is a Police Baton merged with Shocker) or using "Astral Chain" to control tamed Chimeras to kill Wild ones.
Meanwhile this Dog Costume was a local Police Department's mascot called Lappy and was used by non-combat (and very fast albeit clumsy runner) Police Officer Merry Wentz for promotions, boosting team's morale, interacting with kids and while doing menial tasks at precinct like cleaning floors (Overall unlike most of badass cops on the unit - she was hired only to meet the quota needed for functional police precinct by local law). One of hilarious facts about this costume is that Merry made it herself and used some kind of super high-tech material she took from futuristic weapons and armor lab at department which resulted in costume while being hilarious to look at... Actually having very high defense and ability to scramble scanners which every police officer had - hence most of the precinct didn't even know who was inside Dog Costume - their scans will just say "Name: Lappy. Gender: Unknown. Age: Dog Years. Biometrics: Some dummy data"

Nice reaction! Based from what we saw on the trailer, there is like 2 frames on it that confirmed that Bayonetta ripped out her own heart in that last trailer. For what reason I would LOVE to know.

Yay I’m so excited to see you guys finally covering more of this awesome series! I highly recommend playing the games yourself but you can also do story cutscene reactions similar to what you’re doing for DMC. I also recommend getting through both games story before the death battle just in case of potential spoilers.
Also just due to the nature of Bayonetta I recommend playing it yourself. Just watching cutscenes won’t give the full lore and you’ll also prolly be very confused as to how she gets from one place to another lol. The bulk of the middle part of the game doesn’t have too many actual cutscenes in it. Or you could watch gameplay that works too lol.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Only Bayonetta 2 and 3. The first game is available on PC and also released for earlier Xbox and PlayStation systems. Idk if it’s been ported to the newest ones tho. The reason Bayo 2 and 3 are Nintendo exclusive tho is because partway through development of Bayo 2 Sega had to leave to go to another project so Platinum Games needed more help to finish the game. At first nobody they asked was willing to help so the game was almost scrapped, until Nintendo swooped in and said “Hey we’ll help you finish it, if you make it exclusive to our system.” And they said sure let’s do it.

As many will say DMC 1's Phantom the giant spider. Also Viola being a Vergil in gameplay but in character she's the Nero. Really makes the desire for a cross over more desirable now that both series have three major characters.
Kamiya isn't the director or producer this time around, he's the SUPER PRODUCER. The guy came out and said straight out to Capcom he wants to make sequels and spinoffs to all his old series. Including a cross over between them. He had a chance in another game that had a bunch of cross overs but sayed no and later said he regretted because he realized that was probably the only opportunity for a Bayo x DMC cross over.
Some other details from the trailer most wouldn't know. The first dog I think might be a reference to the one game Kamiya is a director of right now call Project GG but that only has a short teaser. The second dog though is from Astral Chain another game they made and is the mascot of the police force in that game.
More importantly Viola also has the same hair as the guy from Scalebound. Scalebound was supposed to be something like DMC meets Monster Hunter but you could ride Dragons along with friends. It fell through and got cancelled for various reasons but Platinum seems to have retooled some ideas to work with Bayo as you can control the monsters like in Scalebound.
Scalebound sounds like a fun idea in concept. Maybe they will bring it back at some point with this as a testing ground 🤔
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames That's the hope. I forget why but there have been a few things to make people think it could come back. However it's owned by Microsoft and Platinum works for Nintendo and Square Enix which makes mostly PlayStation exclusive stuff.
The more likely thing I hope for is they work on a Drakengaurd game. Drakengaurd is a similar sort of game that's got notoriously bad gameplay but good story. It was directed by the guy behind Nier which is owned by Square who hired to Platinum to make a sequel and remake of the series.
Drakengaurd is related to Nier so people hope it will comeback with a sequel made by Platinum that is just Scalebound but a cute young girl. Platinum isn't the best working for people but they had a good relationship with the director who was able to protect their famous Platinum shine but in something people can enjoy for it's story as well.
There was actually a funny moment they had where the director Yoko Taro is known to not show his face. He does in person interviews with a mask seen in his games and at one point interviewers ask him to take it off. He agrees only to reveal Yoko Taro wasn't there but instead legendary game director of Platinum Games Hideki Kamiya in disguise. Not sure but I think that's how they revealed they were teaming up.
That game and series is considered to be one of biggest games of the generation and a modern classic so a lot of people are eagerly waiting to see them do more.
When the gameplay trailer first dropped and we saw that person with the sword, everybody thought of Vergil. lol It's no coincidence that her name also starts with the letter V. Bayonetta games like to reference other games, specially DMC as both franchises share the same creator.
The demon lava spider/scorpion monster is a throwback to that giant spider boss from the first Devil May Cry! Can't wait to play this game and also see you guys react to more Bayonetta stuff. :) Dante vs. Bayonetta's Death Battle after the DMC4 cutscenes will be perfect! 😍

I can't wait to play this in October, been waiting for so long for Bayo's sequel. The only thing left is for one day to finally have Dante and Bayonetta in the same game kicking ass, to have it finally come full circle.
One of the current theories for Bayo3 is that since it does involve multiversal setting, the current trailer Bayo is not the original game ones but the Cereza from Bayo 1 all grown up. Cereza is technically still Bayonetta, but she had a different influence in how she grew up.

Fun little fact, when Nintendo decided to put the Bayonetta series on their consoles they did not Hideki Kamiya to censor her. And in 3 they added a "Naive Angel" mode as a means to cover her up, this can be turned on and off of course.

Have you guys seen the cutscenes for the other 2 games? They're an absolute treat.
Bayonetta is one of the best female badasses in fiction. Femininity is so tightly knit into her design and not just some surface level superficial shit for the sake of diversity or what-have-you. She was designed by a girl and mo-capped by a dancer to get her to feel enchantingly beautiful while at the same time they subvert traditional gender stereotypes by making her a gun wielding, magic casting brawler/sharpshooter. Even when creating the music they really wanted to nail this idea of "What would a badass immortal witch listen to?" and so they created this insane blend of J-Pop, smooth jazz, and R&B. I highly recommend listening to the music on its own sometime, its really worth the attention.

If I was to guess, Bayonetta is wearing a special costume as she normally has her bodysuit made of her hair and we didn't see any of it retract during her summons.
The part where she turns into Madame Butterfly is new.

Platinum Games is famous for constantly adding in-jokes in all its games related to their earlier ones and even games made by their staff before they formed Platinum.
The dog statue is of Lappy, a mascot character from Astral Chain.
The 101 on the building in the distance references The Wonderful 101.
Even the Shiba Inu is a reference to Project GG, another game Platinum Games is working on right now.
So everyone had a hard time guessing the trailer was for Bayonetta 3, after the game's production was very quiet for a number of years.

Best way to explain what Bayonetta is, is a Monkey Witch, she uses her hands and feet to shoot her 4 guns, uses her hair to summon portals of giants fists and other such monsters and can slow down time by using her "Witch time", always activated by dodging at the right moment, and although I never played Bayonetta, it does seem enjoyable, especially if it's made by Platinum games.

Yeah, watching the cutscenes for the first two games is an absolute must. The story is completely incomprehensible even with context so you aren't missing out on that, but you are missing on some 15/10 action scenes.

So in the first game we had Angels to deal with (Paradiso) then in the second game we had Demons to fight because they saw weakness in the balance of power to try to take root(inferno) and now we have Artificial humans called Homunculus from our world (world of chaos) for some unknown reasons.....NICE!!!
Also Phantom the giant Spider had a mother that Bayonetta summons called Phantasmerania the infernal queen That you fight in hell in her dark home after literally dropping in here territory and we kill her. So that spider demon is one of her thousands of children

The Dante vs Bayonetta death battle is a bit controversial. I’m talking Yang vs Tifa bad. The animation is phenomenal so you’ll definitely love it. I just hope you do a reaction to Bayonetta 1&2 first & read up on the in-game lore. You’ll definitely understand then. The games literally have books spread throughout them that explain the lore, how magic works, how the world is set up, etc. I know it’s a lot, but I’m just letting you know.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames there is no new system, Nintendo Switch is their latest console, there are rumors that Switch 2 may be released in 2023 but updating graphics wont do much, the game has to be built for a new system from the ground, otherwise they can only do minor things. So a breakthrough can only happen in Bayonetta 4....if only Sony bought the IP and not Nintendo...Bayonetta 3 on ps5 would be absolutely amazing with stunning visuals and animations....sigh
I like how Bayonetta wears her Cereza childhood hairstyle as default now, nice visual que that she came to terms with her past in the previous two games. Really hoping here that the story will move on from her backstory though, two games were enough for that theme.
