Fun little fact: The lyrics "Like a sliver bullet piercing through. I throw myself into you" Is played in Vergil's theme but not a lyrics but as a melody. You can actually say those lyrics and it will match up to a certain point in bury the light
Isn't that supposed to be "Embrace the darkness that's within me" because it's more inline with Vergil's "Bury the light deep within" melody/instrumental?
This song is the perfect venting song! It's not healthy to keep negative emotions bottled up, and sometimes when the pressure gets to be too much, you've just "gotta let it out! Gotta let it out! GOTTA LET IT OUT! GOTTA LET IT OUT!!!!"
I feel that Nero is the balance between Dante and Vergil. Dante is chaotic and his personality and fighting style includes random movements and unpredictability. The way you can switch styles on the fly when you play his character seems to support this. While he is carefree in his life and may appear to not take anything seriously he does. He just doesn't let it keep him from enjoying the life his mom sacrificed herself for. Vergil on the other hand is precise and methodical in his approach to life and fighting. When you play him his character is very orderly and seemingly by the book in how he does thing. There is a very strict structure to the styles he uses. He is also very disciplined with himself and expects it of others. Now Nero is calm and cool and approaches things in a serious manner, but he doesn't like being so stiff. He knows there is a time and a place for things but he also knows he need to enjoy his life. With his fighting style he is a bit chaotic like Dante as it throws his opponents off. But he treats each fight as a serious matter just like Vergil.
The most interesting thing about this tho is that out of the three, Nero is without a doubt probably the closest to who Sparda may have been when he was still around
I really love the way that the ending fade out is super dragged out because it makes the song itself seem like it's so powerful that it takes ages to dissipate
DEVIL TRIGGER LES FING GOOOOOOO!! Never played the game but I LOVE this song!!! So I'm a *little* biased hahaha. Really loved your analysis on this song! It's so fascinating how just using something like a siren can increase the impact. I had never thought of mixes as being "wet" or "dry" but it makes sense! Will keep that in mind for the future!
The song Devil Trigger Revolves around Nero finding his true power and releasing it, along with his rage completely bursting it out in a surge of unimaginable power Nero is releasing something inside his heart that he doesn't know it exists and pulling it out from within him to be able to stand up and fight for what he thinks is right Basically saying "I'm going all out and I'm not stopping this time"
i absolutely love sitting here and it's as if i'm jamming with you, it's great can't wait for you to listen to the rest of the character's themes! particularly excited for you to listen to V's theme.
If you remember Bury the light theres the namedrop from the song "Bury the Light Deep Within, cast asid all theres no going home, were bringing chaos in the wake, drifting in the ocean all alone" and that part is supposed to be a mirror to the "Embrace the darkness thats within me, no hiding in the shadows anymore, when this wickedness consumes me, nothing can save you and theres no way out."
Would love to see a video like this, but about how all of the music in DMC5 is tied to your score; the more "stylish" your score the more "layers" of the song that play. It might be cool to see someone who knows what their talking about analyze how they do it and how effective or good each "level" of the song is.
Ah, my boy's theme song! Out of everyone in the franchise, Nero is my favourite to play as and his music always goes so damn hard. Shall Never Surrender from DMC 4 goes really hard too. This is just such a good song for Nero and the lyrics are such a perfect embodiment of who Nero is as a person. DMC 5 is absolutely peak DMC for me and I put way too many hours into that game 😅
Probably the thing I love most about this song is the way it contrasts with Nero's battle theme in 4, The time Has Come/Shall Never Surrender. Both the melody and the lyrics of Devil Trigger reflect his character development over these two games.
Its crazy how nero got this masterpiece, Vergil got Bury the Light, they both got themes that suit them very well and then dante got sub human, a good song but absolute not dante's
There is something that made me come around to Dante's theme in this game. I'm not sure if it is just a regional thing, but where I live there is a stereotype of the Metalhead Uncle, and this game's version of Dante fits that to a T. The stereotype is an older man with longish white hair, Who wears a leather jacket, has a beard, who rides a motorcycle, always cracking jokes and having a good time, and always has metal music playing nearby. Dante in this game has all of these characteristics and is literally Nero's uncle. It is probably just a coincidence, because I doubt that Japanese game devs are in the know about stereotypes from a small hick town in Canada, but it fits so perfectly that I find it makes the song fit him, even though it wouldn't normally be my first choice of a character theme.
i would say DMC3's "Devils Never Cry" represents him pretty well still after all these years. I do like DMC5's Dante's theme, but yeah, it doesn't hit like Vergil's and Nero's does for me.@@marvinamor1330

If you ever get the chance listen to Dante and V's theme. Since you are playing the game when you listen you realize each theme represents their characters in the melody's with devil trigger capturing Nero's energy and Bury The Light capturing Vergil's Motivation. Highly recommend V's Crimson Cloud and Dante's Subhuman themes
I cant remember the part where it's at but there is a section of bury the light that is either exactly or almost exactly the rythm of one of the parts of devil trigger.
