    Honda also refers to this switch as the BPP (Brake Pedal Position) switch.

    My 01 has the same problem. Sometimes it will take me 6 tries to get it to work by stepping on the brake pedal and all the suddenly it will work. How much is the brake pedal switch cost.

      I believe this is the one I got, around $20 Part #201-1460.

    I have a situation where the brake lamp fail indicator is lit on the dash. Initially, I saw my drivers brake light were not lit when I hit the brake. I found out the bulbs used were single filament and changed them to double filament. Now none of the brake lights come on when depressed. The van can start with no brake fail indicator but will trigger brake lamp failure whenever the brake is press and remain on. Could this brake pedal sensor be the problem? Or does it only affect shifting out of drive to park issues?

      I would match the same type of bulb that was in the light before. The sensor could be an issue, not sure. Don’t think my cruise worked after using a non-Honda replacement part. The brake circuit is tied to many systems including the cruise.

      Carl Davenport it called for a double filament bulb according to autozone. Maybe whoever put in the other bulb was the wrong bulb anyway??

    Hey bro my brake lights don't work I tried replacing light bulbs checked fuse and still don't work could it be the brake switch that is broken?

    • @carldavenport1583
      @carldavenport1583  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be the brake switch. My cruise control isn't working now, and may have stopped about the time I replaced the brake switch. It is part of the cruise circuitry, so it may be related in my case. I don't recall them being that expensive.

      Also, check the voltage at the bulb connections when pressing on the brake.

      Carl Davenport what should the voltage be at the socket?

    I just ordered my neutral safety switch, it came with the entire wire, except there's no plunger like you have,... So is the plunger the problem,.. or the wiring switch, or both?

    • @carldavenport1583
      @carldavenport1583  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I replaced the entire assembly. Worked great. As far as I know it is the plunger portion. I don't recall it being expensive.

    What the part called that looks like a nipple that makes the breaklight work for the switch

    • @carldavenport1583
      @carldavenport1583  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The brake switch or brake pedal switch includes the nipple end.

    Did it show anything on the dash? Mine won’t come out of park and the dash is not working. The tac, speedometer, gas, water temp, and mileage are not showing anything at all

      I didn't have any of these issues. I know in order to shift out of Park you need to press the brake, this is a safety measure. I guess it makes since if the Van doesn't think the brake is pressed it won't let you shift out of Park. Have you installed a new one?

    Very stupid design! The little plug on the brake lever sits in a hole and hits the plunger on the part he is replacing to tell the car that you are NOT stepping on the brake. Now the 2 cent plug on my car fell apart and now it's just a hole where it was and nothing is there to tell the car that I am NOT stepping on the brake. The consequence??? The brake lights will stay on until you fix it, pull the fuse, or the battery dies... If there were no hole, they wouldn't need the plug, if there were no plug, there wouldn't be anything to break off.
    The fix??? Take 2 minutes to go to the garage and find a bolt that fits in the hole. (I used one with a rounded head) Take 30 seconds to get down by the brake pedal and drop the bolt into the hole. The bolt head will stop it from falling through and gravity will keep it from falling out. The plunger will now hit the top of the bolt! You're done... Did I mention the stupid design?
