ChrisFix hey Chris, AMAZING channel you have put together! I have several scratches on the inside of my windshield from the previous owner. I am thinking it is from a dog. Is there any technique or trick to hide them so they are not so visible? Thanks
i had a rock hit my windshield but it didnt chip. It was really loud and i was surprised it didnt chip the windshield but there is a scratch on it now. Do i need to fix that or is that okay?
Good video!.... A couple of tips I can give yo.... I was an Auto Glass installer for 43 years before I retired. I did chip repairs for over 30 years..... When you are doing the chip repairs, make sure to wear Nitrile gloves all the time and never get the resin on you... A long the last, I developed an allergy to the resin and would break out in a rash. Bad stuff.......Also. Try using a single-edged, razor blade to scrape the dried resin from the glass.... Instead of using a "Slicing" motion (as shown in video) to remove resin, hold a single-edged razor blade at a 90% angle to the windshield and rub it back and forth, as if you were plaining down the excess resin....This will this process will make the repaired area even with the rest of the windshield... After you are done, use a little car wax to shine up the area..... There is also a product you can use called"PIt Glaze" but car wax will do just as well.... After the area is polish, you may not even see the damage............ Hope this helps............You did a fine job repairing the WS on this video..... and you offered no misleading info.......Thanks for posting!
Thanks a lot for the tips Jack and I appreciate the feedback from a 43yr pro! I used some of your tips in my new video: th-cam.com/video/aAsUG-jbLlM/w-d-xo.html
I would be a good idea when repairing a crack, not to have your car in direct sunlight... First, the polymor used to repair the chip is cured through ultra-violet rays of the sun... Second, The windshield should never be hot from the sun, during the process... A hot windshield is likely to crack much easier......Always do the repair in the shade and make sure the windshield is rather cool.... This may help.......... The best repair kit on the market is made by Aegis..... This is professional equipment and is expensive, but once mastered, it can pay for it's self.......
Applied your knowledge and fixed a tiny chip like this on my windshield more than a year back. Since then, no further problem. You are really a great DIY teacher
So I was a little skeptical at first that these cheap window chip repair kits were worth it but when you pulled off the yellow square I was legitimately blown away. Great job!
This is the most useful video for fixing chips on your windshield! Have had two in the past 3 months and watching this video and following the steps really helped me use the kit and it made the crack completely go away .
Your video on windshield chip repair was excellent! I work at a car dealership where we see this problem all too often. Your repair looked better than repairs we pay for. I am going to try doing this myself on our next stone chipped windshield. Thanks to your video I know to expect better repairs in the future. Thanks Chris.
Thanks! Some chips come out great and others, well, at least they are fixed haha. Glad the video was helpful! Here is another with some more info: th-cam.com/video/aAsUG-jbLlM/w-d-xo.html
Why would anyone give it a thumbs down? He is showing people how to repair a windshield so people can save money. If you don’t like the video don’t watch it.
Being a auto glass technician myself I say this is pritty cool and very interesting, good for people who don’t have $100 to get there chips fixed just have to make sure your very careful not to let it crack of in the process. One additional tip for this diy repair would be to lightly heat the inside of the screen with a lighter right where the chip is. This will help make that resn get thinner and will make it easy for it to get right out to the end of the legs of the chip and lightly tap around the chip with a small piece of steel :) cool stuff
What the heat does is expand the area that's damaged while you are injecting resin into the area and let's that resin get into the voids while you have pressure on it.
What the heat does when you hit the bullseye or starburst with a torch lighter is it expands to open the lines in the damage where the resin pushes further into the Crack. You just very quickly hit it with torch and then get off of it.
Its always nice to watch someone else try a product out before you muck it up yourself. Thanks for the video, you convinced me this works and works well. @@chrisfix Things can always get worse, driving to oreilly to get the permatex kit, the chip split left and right about a foot each. Nice video CrisFix!!! Keep up the good work!!! I love your videos!!!!!! This video was really helpful. My grandma had a crack in her windshield and I told her I could fix it for her and I did!!
I also got a rock flung at me from being behind a dump-truck. Some guy wanted to charge me 75$ to fix it, same size as the one you got. Thank you Chris! Always very helpful and informative, definitely going to try this out and save a couple bucks! Thanks again.
I wish I had known about this a month when I got a chip. I guess its too late bc now I have a long crack. I went to several repair shops. They all said it had to be replaced. They knew. I love Chris' honesty.
Just a quick FYI to all individuals looking to fix their small cracks this way. Make sure your car windshield aint too hot in comparison to your alcohol wipes as it might cause the crack to grow exponentially even if you wipe real soft and gentle..... You might have already guessed but I made that booboo and my problem became a big problem..... Thank god for AAA insurance. The glass repair guy was the one that filled me on that tidbit so be careful with your temps especially during prep. ;)
I’ll have to give this a try , Had a crack or chip in my trucks windshield for about a year now, not getting bigger or growing but it’s on drivers side & in your sight line, so it’s annoying.
I already started worrying on a chip , which I noticed today. I don’t know how it came. But now I know how to make it disappear. Thank you so much Chris.
Your video is really great and easy to follow. I had a similar sized crack and don't know what I did wrong maybe cleaning the crater with a pin? Or removing the syringe too early during the sucking out the air portion, but the crack is gone, but now I see a black line of the crack where it used to be.
Got a rock to the windshield when we got hit with that tornado here in vt and I followed your steps and let’s just say it seems like nothing happened now! Thank you dude for always being so helpful and also being so easy to follow. You rock man - from a dude that always goes to your videos first.
Damn TH-cam, it knows! I just had this happen on my Jeep: small rock made a dent on my windscreen. I didn't search anything related to repairing it or even mentioned it to anyone, other than directly talking to them. But boom! All of a sudden this was on the "recommended" videos. I've never watched this video, since never had that issue before. But right when I did, TH-cam decided it was time... :'P So here's my appreciation to your earlier work Chris! Well done!
@@jeffbundt9138 Listening... learning... Skynet confirmed! Actually, that's not bad, since now I didn't have to seek out tutorials. Of course, having a insurance will take care of that for free, but always nice to know stuff like this.
Awesome video as usual thank you. Can tell this is one of the older videos because it wasn’t as energetic of a “HEY GUYS” as usual lol. Keep them coming.
Most vehicles cost around $300 for a new windshield to be installed. You may want to look into who is charging you almost triple. Either that or you have a VERY unique vehicle that needs an equally unique windshield.
They always say that to get easy money off of you. I chose for them to put the resin on the windshield instead and they charged me 60 something dollars...
Sometimes "tiny" chips are super deep, cracking out, or in the line of sight and if you live in Florida or Kentucky then its better to be safe then sorry (it may spread while repairing or within a day or so of driving) Comp coverage on most ins's with even a 2500 deductible covers replacement mobile and free (even non-static recalibration) with virtually no premium change with a glass waiver and repair for free as. Replacement isn't free without a glass waiver but it can be inexpensive like 15 bucks more a month for around a 0- 100 deductible
Can't wait to try this. Put a new windshield on my CR-V, after a chip like this turned into a big crack. Less than 4 months later, I'm passing a large truck and a rock hits my new windshield, small but annoying chip right in the driver's line of sight! I'm going to give this kit a whirl and hopefully it does the trick!
Nice. There really should be something done about those dump truck and semi's that haul rocks and gravel. Those signs a lot of them have on the back saying "not responsible for broken windshields" are bull crap but I guess they hope people will believe it and not try to get them to pay for it, and they probly believe it themselves, but it's not true, if you fail to secure your load and that causes damage to somebody else's property you are responsible for it. Good video, thanks for posting it.

i had a chip like this on my old car and never fixed it. 2 winters later it spread all the way across my windshield.
Because chipped glass is very easy to damage.
To cut piece of glass we need just to make a scratch and then bend it a little bit.
If water gets into it then it freezes you need another windshield.
It is neat how light refracts though glass and when you fill it, it is almost invisible!

@@chrisfix Things can always get worse, driving to oreilly to get the permatex kit, the chip split left and right about a foot each. The chip had been there for months, so they must have put pressure on it and forgot to actually fix it? This was a huge auto glass business, got a refund but now need to install a new windshield. You have a video for that too, thank you! I'm 100% doing this myself. This is the age of doing everything yourself. Can't trust anyone to do the simplest of jobs anymore.
Didnt even knew this existed... thanks
Glad the video was helpful!
me too ,,i got crack,, i need this quick,,,

Great explanation. Simple, clear, doable. Thanks, Chris!
I just want to let you know this video really helped me alot. Thanks for taking the time to do it!
I'm glad the video was helpful!
Thank you bro!! I'm going to order the kit today and can't wait to fix it. This is the number one go to channel for fixing your car and truck
Glad to help! Lmk how it goes
The glass repair guy was the one that filled me on that tidbit so be careful with your temps especially during prep. ;)
+ApolloSol Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the tips! Here is more info on chip repair with my new video: th-cam.com/video/aAsUG-jbLlM/w-d-xo.html
I saw this video a couple of years back and now it’s finally being put to use. Thanks so much!
Just found your page yesterday. Great content man! Looking forward fixing all the issues with my wife's car. :)
Thanks a lot and I am glad you are enjoying the videos!
Wow... Watching this, I can see how far your skills at making videos have progressed. Keep up the good work.
Great job mate, I have been in glass industry for 18 years. Good on you son. 👌👍
It looks damn near perfect
3232myke Yea, it really came out great!
I’ll have to give this a try ,
Had a crack or chip in my trucks windshield for about a year now, not getting bigger or growing but it’s on drivers side & in your sight line, so it’s annoying.
did it work after a year?
Did it work bro
I already started worrying on a chip , which I noticed today. I don’t know how it came. But now I know how to make it disappear. Thank you so much Chris.
Thanks chris. This was so helpful
Thanks I got two chips today behind a truck so I’m gonna do just like what you showed. 👍
Your video is really great and easy to follow. I had a similar sized crack and don't know what I did wrong maybe cleaning the crater with a pin? Or removing the syringe too early during the sucking out the air portion, but the crack is gone, but now I see a black line of the crack where it used to be.
Probably the best fix I've seen with this kind of kit
Thanks man. Got a fresh chip on some glass that I just had tinted!
*Anything happens to his car*
Chris: CONTENT!!
really love ur vids man. Lots of help thanks!!
Thanks!
Got a rock to the windshield when we got hit with that tornado here in vt and I followed your steps and let’s just say it seems like nothing happened now! Thank you dude for always being so helpful and also being so easy to follow. You rock man
- from a dude that always goes to your videos first.
I just moved to NH, we get tornados up here? Damn you just can’t escape them lmao I drove to Vermont last week it’s so beautiful
Dude!!! I was so worried about my windshield chip. I really can't say how it got chipped, will try this!!! You deserve unlimited subscribe!!
Pretty neat kit, i've not seen these before.
Well done!
Finnish Fatman Right? Man that’s real creepy.😬
Your phone is always listening
@@jeffbundt9138 Listening... learning... Skynet confirmed! Actually, that's not bad, since now I didn't have to seek out tutorials. Of course, having a insurance will take care of that for free, but always nice to know stuff like this.
Your videos are very helpful. Keep making videos.
Thanks Sean!
HES LIVE!
Just bought the kit, glad you had a video on this. Been watching your page for a while, love when I search youtube and you pop up in the suggestions
Excellent presentation thank you
Thanks!
Awesome video as usual thank you. Can tell this is one of the older videos because it wasn’t as energetic of a “HEY GUYS” as usual lol. Keep them coming.
That was a really clear step by step video! Thanks very much! Subscribed!
SadamFlu Thanks! I am glad the video was helpful and that you subbed! Welcome aboard!
You are seriously my most valuable asset out of all my subscriptions
This is like magic! Cool.

I just noticed I have 2 small chips in my windshield, and I will love to see those gone. Thank you !
$10, better than $800 for a new windshield.
yep and beats paying the deductible for insurance lol, this is really neat.
Actually its only 300, well it depends on the windshield. For my 4 cylinder Toyota truck that's how much it cost.
@@povang Replaced for 80$ with double layer :D
You must be gettin jewed lmao
Most vehicles cost around $300 for a new windshield to be installed. You may want to look into who is charging you almost triple. Either that or you have a VERY unique vehicle that needs an equally unique windshield.
Cought a rock on the freeway and this Answered all my questions.
Thank you
Thanks! The auto glass company told me I needed to get my glass completely removed and replaced for a tiny chip.
Glad the video was helpful!
We aren't allowed to repair a chip on the driver side of the vehicle
@@punktalley in what state? Just curious. Different states sometimes have different laws
Perfectly awesome!
+frankyoriginal Thanks!
Super, you continue to surprise me !
Vic Wong Thanks!!! Here is another video what shows how to fix a different chip: th-cam.com/video/YK1kpSZpMPM/w-d-xo.html
I'm running g to the store today to get this. ty
worked?
Good luck!

@antrobber. Just ask for a 'Buttplug-Kit' at any Auto/Body repair shop, they'll know what you mean...

I have used this video about five times easy and great explanation. Thank you.
Great video's! I appreciate your attention to details.
Thanks Frank!

Lol, I was thinking the same thing.
Jason Bradley you speak the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I really do think that this is very similar to what safelite and other chip repair folks use!

Nice job......thanks
